These bikes are amazing and having no rider aids just adds to the rawness of them. I picked up my 2008 1098 about a year ago and pretty sure I will never part with it.
i own a '08 1098..... love the bike. absolutely great on the twisties, granted it's down on power compared to today's modern superbikes, but it will get more looks than most of the bikes out there today. and a bonus it will keep up with most of the bikes on the street today. maintainance is a must, but what a great bike.
I've got the bigger sister 1198, white pearl color. No electronic control, 170 hp, impressive torque, she rips off your arms... and still so beautiful!
@Danny oh I've ridden in the rain dozens of times. I just don't like to clean my bike afterwards. It's not that I can't, I prefer not to. I live in Houston. We get rain constantly. Slow down and be more cautious with the distance and you'll be fine.
I had one of these. It turned into a station wagon. Miss it quite a bit. Now that I’m on the other side of small children etc thinking about picking up another Ducati. Had the Termi exhaust on mine. It sounded absolutely epic.
Well I got a 1988 Ducati Paso which I still think is very revalent compared to other Ducati's. Still a gorgeous looking bike, still turns a lot of heads than most Ducati's, gorgeously fast, very comfortable to ride and still very reliable.
Found your vids cause this will be my forever bike. Going to start searching for one. My first bike was a 748 and I want dry clutch to bring back sentimental vibes. Because bike 🤙🏽
I have an 07 1098. Termi exhaust, aftermarket rear sets & triple clamp. 1 up 1 down on gearing. A bit too aggressive for me. I also added the new lithium battery which weights like 2 lbs vs 20lbs and a slipper clutch which made a huge difference! This bike is fun! Is as pure as you can get. Really all you need. The new v4 def is the next level
Great bike man, also got the 1098S. I think you should indeed go for the standard mirrors, they make the bike even better looking. You do have the full system by the way, easy tell is the heat shield just above the foot pegs. Enjoy the bike!
I just bought a 1092s 3 days ago my first impressions are it’s an awesome bike for sure could do worse mine is in a little better condition I agree the levers could be bigger and for me it’s a little small I’m 6’3 and feel like it’s too small but yeah these bikes will just go up in value for sure
After seeing all those new high tech futuristic liter sport bike i had an itch to try and own Ducati 1198/ 1098, for me it was and still the sexiest bike ever made, the headlight, the under tail exhaust, the slimness, do you recommend to get one if it was low mileage and had one owner who took care of it ??
So I kept this one for 4 months. Absolutely awesome bike. Sold it to get the 1098r which is what I originally wanted. 1098s is an awesome bike. I would recommend it without a doubt.
Park it in the garage, look at it, work on it, clean it, and let everyone know you have one. That's the value. Riding that bike around in 4th gear at 60mph is a literal sin. Appreciate you wanting to be safe and all that other good stuff but damn, such a shame! Congrats on the new bike!
@@dorian_vlogs It's an absolutely amazing machine. I have one myself along with a 996. I think from a lineage perspective they are close to the top of the pack in relation to superbike evolution but no comparison between the two in terms of raw power and maneuverability. There's just something different about the 1098 (aside from the extra 50 hp). I think main shortcomings are the stock exhaust (doesn't have the grumble the bike deserves) and the weak turnover when starting (who cares).
You are spot on! The more I ride it, the better it gets. It's hard to believe it's 15 years old. It's incredibly powerful, maneuverable and nimble but open it up and it's a beast. Powers up in second effortlessly. It's a great bike. With the correct rider, good luck catching it on the twisties. Mine has an arrow exhaust that's loud, as it should be and as far as cranking, mine starts right up on the first crank if it's been ridden that day but more often than not, first or second try when it's been sitting for days.
I owned one 1098s did five miles and put in the front room smartest bike I have own and most uncomfortable full termi exhaust in titanium glows red when hot I was unable to select 2nd gear under 45 mph OK crouch down now put your elbows on your knees now look up that's 1098 seating position now doing 100mph looking over the rims of ones glasses lol
I owned 2 1098S. That single sway rear bar effects those turns BUT saved me in a hit & run from behind doing a left turn. It turned to the right and the rear rim took most impact. Causing me to eject instead of being catapulted. This design saved my life. I have video footage of this accident. Safest superbikes designed for track crashes. ❤
@dorian_vlogs let me know if I could share the security Camera footage of that hit & run 11 months ago... walked away with 3 scratches no helmet & only 1 scratch on right fender... the dry clutch helped obsorb the last momentum of the impact only broke 2 lugs on clutch. Busted rear tire, rim and a new clutch other than that... This Italian Lady is a Guardian Angel itself on the roads!
@dorian_vlogs maybe 2 that night on June 7th 2022. The next day people put crosses & candles at that scene where the crash took place . That tripe out the most when I saw that. I was like "yo nah I'm still here!" Thank you Ducati 1098S !
Got a yellow 1098 and got to agree with you easy left turning bit dodgy on the right also got a 749 and it feels the same maybe it's just me great bikes though
Turn left and right should be the same thing . As you complain about it must check your suspension as there you will find the solution for it. Enjoy it like i do enjoy my 2012 1098r

It's a gorgeous bike. That dry clutch and steel frame is to die for.
For sure.
Well literally. It's very likely to die on one of these things xD
This is the bike that brought out my love for Ducati and really motorcycles in general when I was little.
A great bike for sure and definitely one of the best Ducati's ever made. 👍
To me, 16 years later, still more beautiful than 90% of the sport bikes today. Ducati makes timeless beauties!
Very true.
Very nice bike. I had a 1098 a few years back, but it remains a gorgeous bike. In mine opinion it competes with the 916 for most beautiful bike ever.
916 is cool. I think the sport classic 1000 is the best looking bike. Just my opinion though.

@CharlieMoto182 I rode it for hours at a time with very little discomfort. I'm 6' tall and it's pretty good.
Bikes from this era are peak motorcycling. Right before all the electronics tomfoolery that keeps people on the road.
This is exactly why I went with this model. All rider, no rider aids. 🤙👊

Oberon mirror extenders helps a lot
I have a black 1098s. Tire pressure affects handling quite a bit. Also, front tire may be worn funny if lots of straight line riding
Tire pressure is on point, tires are new. I figured it out.
