Did the gasoline damage the black frame that holds the glass mirror? I'm having the same issue on my 89 Ford Ranger with both side mirrors? Also, what type of silicone did you use to glue the mirror back on, and how did it hold up through time after installation? 🤔
1 - Slightly, Yes. But it's not very noticeable. 2 - 100% clear silicone. 3 - To be honest not very well, partially due to me not knowing exactly what I was doing. I think I ended up taking the mirror apart twice because the first time I didn't tighten the bolt enough/I think I had grease in it. If I did it again I would not soak the mirror very long, and get it right the first time. Also I would not try to make it adjustable. It's a lot easier to have it fixed in one place. Just tighten it down all the way. Side note: the ball on my mirror, kind of wasn't round any more due to rust. So trying to adjust it was unsmart.

Why buy something when you can fix it?
and that is why our landfills are so full, cause some people are just to lazy to fix things. Kudo's to the young man did a good job.
Replacements don’t use convex mirror glass. Using this video, you can swap the OEM convex mirrors into new metal bodies.
