EXTREME Winter Storm Plane Spotting at MSP Airport

- Major storms that affect MSP often come with unusual wind components. These conditions can prompt the use of either Runway 4 or 22. The latter is used more often but this time, 4 was the only option! 4/22's operations are in close proximity to the Aircraft Viewing Area making it a thrill to film!

I grew up in Indiana. Why not as wintery as Minnesota, March could be one of our worst for snow and ice storms. Winter fighting with Spring.
It snows here in MSP most years in April....

I feel like they used 4 for landing constantly when I was a kid (mid 80s to mid 90s). We lived only about a mile from the end of the runway and planes were always lined up. I could see people in the windows as they flew overhead.

Nice work, sir! I really haven't seen 4/22 used as anything but a taxi way since 17/35 was built. There used to be a fence off of Hwy 62 and 34th (59th street and 45th Avenue South) where you could watch from the end of that runway when planes were taking off SW down Rwy 22. I never saw any takeoffs on 04 heading over Highland Park.
