Great video. Combining dodging, jumping, deflecting, and apparently also crouching (seriously, wtf) can make a lot of fights incredibly stylish. I think people is sleeping on rhe potential of this game's combat system.

That's why I'm so disappointed with Radahn, personally. It feels like a betrayal of the rest of the game's depth in hitbox and tracking by giving such absurdly large hitboxes.

You can actually only jump the first 2 swings before needing to crouch the rest, although I think you can also crouch those first 2 as well. But the last 3 quick spins aren't jumpable
They dont have what to jump signals in er because the jumps are very inconsistent on a lot of "jumpable" boss attacks so if they did it, it would just feel misleading unlike sekiro
Yeah the game is horribly inconsistent on what's jumpable and what's not. You can't jump a falling star beast gravity rock summon but you can jump radans gravity wave even though the wave washes your whole model and the beast rock summon doesn't even touch you.

Exactly from playing the dlc I also figured some similar strats, of basically either running past or around certain attacks. So far I found a run-past for Commander Niall's charge, a run around misdirect + jump for his airborne lightning kick and a run-past strat for Rellana's fast glintblade follow up lunge. Im not very precise at executing these sort of run arounds just yet, but looking at players like you it appears theres reason to keep training and boundaries to push way further than perhaps previously thought possible.
That's how most people figure this stuff out and it's not a good method. The game does a very poor job communicating. And still you're almost always better served with the universal roll.
@@normalguycap Oh, the tank is just what I used for a first playthrough so I could see what the game has to offer without immediately dying every time the game blindsided me. I made sure to keep it at medium roll max, too. My second build was a lightweight focused on offensive incantations & cipher pata. My third build was a pure-skill melee-only light roller with hookclaws & weapon grease types, quickstep replaced with cragblade, as a universal-roll build made to shred or be shredded quickly. The build variety gives you difficulty options!

Imagine the game not telling you something but instead rewarding you for taking risks and experimenting on your own rather than giving you button prompts which tell you the most optimal thing to do at any given moment.

This game should have commited to you having to use crouching and jumping tk avoid attacks i think , and indicate in some way that its a crouch attack or jump attack like sekiro did , would made combat flow much better

I accidentally discovered crouch as a defense when fighting Godfrey, Golden Shade. Inadvertently crouched and noticed him swinging right over me without making contact on some of his horizontal swings.
you can also dodge consorts second phase rocksling/meteor clone combo at close range by chaining i frames from miriams vanishing and a backstep into a roll but the timing is super precise
I think Romina is a wonderful boss! They did a great job of making her hitboxes feel reasonable instead of just huge and clunky across her whole body. Fight could've easily sucked a ton but it doesn't
U can avoid consorts launcher grab attack. Roll the launcher move, then sprint to his right sticking tightly around him junp last second to avoid down slam, enabling you to get a jump heavy attack with heavy weapons, no risk of fast follow ups like cross slash hitting u. It doesn't work well with light weapons because of their lack of range and tracking, so it misses
I think Romina’s tactic was intentional putt it in 0,25 and looked legit to me I think it’s because the centipede feet on the ground don’t have a hitbox
You can strafe A LOT of attacks, but most of them are too stressful to think in a fight and/or hard. Some requires specific positioning. So this will not always work... for a new player. You could easily get used to this if you have over like 1500-2000 hours in the game. Being a quick learner and being able to control character fast helps too.
There is no way to dodge through it without an item, it's impossible. If you wanted to dodge it without using Raptor's or VotI you need to outspace it, worst attack in the game easily
@@ooloh I've just accepted that you can't dodge it and it's designed to not be dodged. I mean like someone else said, if there's any attack in the game that has the excuse of being undodgeable, it's a f*cking quasar jet from a black hole. Also I found that the best way to minimize the damage you take from it is to just stay in the middle AOE and get hit twice from it. It doesn't do too much damage.

Nice video but I think that a lot of this displays what I think is wrong with some aspects of the DLC which is that there are so many different attacks that don’t work the way that they LOOK like they’re supposed to work which breaks immersion and makes it very weird and unintuitive to have to dodge even if you’ve figured it out except half the time there’s nothing that gives you a clue as to how to figure it out unless you’re familiar with the game’s code or just stumble upon the method by accident.
The thing is that you can't really say what is objectively intuitive. Different people can intuit different things and be right or wrong about it. There's definitely particular timings or some such that trip people up more than others, but it will still click for one person really well. I had an easy time with finding jump attack dodges throughout all the base game and the DLC. Many things just looked very low to the ground to me so I tried jumping them. I didn't even know how jumping truly worked until Zullies video, I just knew to try. (Even then, I didn't understand fully.) But many others didn't even attempt jumping at all. At a certain point it becomes experimentation, yes. But is that bad once again, if it leads to a boss having more longevity for those determined to find everything? Besides, a lot of the things in this video are no roll runner level tech. You can get through even something as complicated as Radahns clone slam just fine without it.

It's the default gut reaction to yell subjectivity so people take that as the truth. It's "easy" to think that's what's happening. Experimentation is good but not when punished so severely. Think this attack was jumpable? It wasn't even though it looked it? well now you probably died thanks to the overtuned damage or got stunlocked and lost your souls and now have to do a runback wasting time. Is that fun? No. Why bother experimenting when the cost for failure (and not even failure that's your fault but the game's bad hitboxes or poor conveyance) is so high?

You are malding in the replies of nearly every comment thread on this channel. Souls games are completely different kinds of "action" games and going for a completely different experience than the games you've listed above, they satisfy different things. There is a reason no one listens to people constantly malding about Nioh or DMC in the comments of Souls videos and that's because they're just not the same experiences. They're good games in their own right but people who insist on constantly comparing them every time someone posts a video where people do somewhat advanced things in souls games come off as extremely insecure and, in general, don't seem understand the appeal of souls games, and so are reasonably ignored. I am only replying to you because I see you've been constantly seething to people under this video and I've noticed this trend of malding Nioh/DMC people seething in Soul's comment sections for some reason. Please just go back to playing the games you enjoy and stop embarrassing yourself.
