I love the concept of walking away from your own front door for such an amazing adventure and returning home still on foot! Looking forward to following along!
Sara! Great to see you on UA-cam! I recently viewed your SOBO on the AT and a few updates since. 7K miles! Wow! I'll start watching to see how it goes. Between you and Captain Jack (He's doing a "yo-yo"), you've got me motivated to do a SOBO starting in June. Planning and training continues. Wishing you great success, happiness during this next adventure!
So huge! I hope you get some rain down there. We did a short loop of the azt-get-skit in December. We found a lot of dry springs in the mountains. The BLM ranger claimed there was no water flowing between klondyke and the Gila river. Lots of cows out though.
I have a suggestion. When you arrive at the Northern Terminus of the CDT, do an assessment of how much time you have left in the year. If you are short on time, you may want to catch a ride over to the Northern Terminus of the PCT and immediately start hiking South in order to complete the Sierras by October 1, 2025 when the chances for Sierra Snow begin to increase. In other words, the goal is to complete the Sierras during your SOBO PCT hike before snow season begins. Anyway, you don't need to decide this now, you can decide this later. I am so excited for you and I can't wait to follow your progress on the trail. Whoooohoooo !!!!
Sounds like a good plan. I'm 73 and wish that I had hiked the AT. My son now has to look after me. Enjoy life while you can. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Hi Sara, I just subscribed. That's quite an adventure you have planned. I hiked the PCT in 2018. I was laid off work Nov. 2017 and half-heartedly looked for a job before my start. I'll be retiring soon and plan on hiking the CDT this year. I hope to start the trail nobo May 4, maybe we'll see each other.
Good plan Sara! 66 yo now, wished I would have pursued hiking more 35 years ago. Trying to cram it all in now, but my body is fighting me the whole time. Plus it hasn't helped that I've been smoking on and off most of my life.
Good for you! You're going to have some good stories for the kids/grandkids in the future. I'm new and still working my way through your AT hike. I was wondering just the other day what I was going to watch while on my step machine when I'm finished with that one. Now I know! Congratulations on your decision to go for it. You have all my best possible wishes.
Just came across your channel. Immediately subscribed after seeing this video. Cant wait to follow along! Wishing you all the best! Happy trails! My adventures pale in comparison to yours but I share on my UA-cam channel my hikes as well. Cheers!
Sara, I am so excited for you & Raf... you are going to do amazing! And very happy for Raf to work on his stuff too! Yay!!! Don't forget your bear spray 😅
I’m so excited for you. Just curious, as someone who has completed the PCT (23’), I know resupply is a main concern. How in the heck do you plan your resupply on something so monumental? To me the toughest parts to resupply are when you’re not on the “main” trails and just on connector trail where there are no towns forever to resupply in. Obviously FarOut will help you with that on the main trails but can you share how you’re planning your resupply in those aforementioned areas? I’ll be following along! Cheers Marmalade
I've always considered a Border wall hike from Campo to Tucson- Well Nogales then North. You would be the first to make the trek* Tbh a bit dangerous but what a journey.. I live in Yuma and have considered hiking el camino del diablo Sirra Vista To Yuma a common Bike pack route.. but a hike through that would be a first.
As someone who will be 67 next week and spent the last 9 years dealing with the aging parent thing, I say you go girl!!! Enjoy yourself & buy some bear spray!
I wonder if since your main goal seems to be to hike the CDT and PCT together, if maybe you couldn't simplify it just a little bit and just start at the Southern Terminus of the CDT and finish at the Southern Terminus of the PCT. That would still be a lot of miles for one year, but would eliminate some of the back tracking you would have to do. Anyway good luck with your plans. 😎👍
For sure! My main inspiration was to start/end at my front door though. :D I did look at potentially heading south and making my own route directly to the CDT terminus, which would require a lot of paved road walking.
@@sarawalksalot If you haven't already I think you should go on Postholer and make a good trip plan for the CDT and PCT sections. Then make you own hike plan for the connecting trails. Keeping a good schedule I think will be crucial so you don't run out of time to get though the Sierras. 👍
Awesome I hope to see you As I'm heading north on the PCT starting April 18th and possible see you up in Washington!!!! go luck 4Runner Happy Trails
