The Adepta Sororitas (also "the Sisterhood" or "Daughters of the Emperor") is a religious group that was incorporated into the Imperial Cult millennia ago. It is a common misconception that the Adepta Sororitas is the same as the Sisters of Battle, but the latter term technically refers only to the Orders Militant, the best-known part of the organization.
The Adepta Sororitas are an all-woman subdivision of the religious organization known as the Ministorum or Ecclesiarchy. They share with the Inquisition a similar role, policing the divisions of the Adeptus Terra. While the Inquisition's jurisdiction is entirely broad and encompassing, the Sororitas' is confined to heresy and mutation. The Sisterhood is religious where the Inquisition is relatively secular. As the Sisterhood's power extends only over the Adeptus Terra, the self-governing Inquisition remains beyond the Sisterhood's vigilance.
The Sisterhood's Orders Militant are the mailed fist of the Ecclesiarchy, rooting out and mercilessly destroying corruption and heresy within humanity and every department of the Imperium. The Decree Passive rules that the Ecclesiarchy cannot maintain any men under arms. The Sisters, being all women, are exempt from this decree.In the 41st millennium, the Adepta Sororitas is a part of the Ecclesiarchy and is divided into two Convents. The Convent Sanctorum located on Terra, and the Convent Prioris based on Ophelia VII. The overall commander of the entire Sisterhood is the Abbess, based in the Convent Sanctorum, and one of the potential High Lords of Terra.

Filthy Peasant Out of curiousity which is your first fav? For me its mechanicus (altough I dont own models.) Followed by sisters (altough they get easily brainwashed ;P) and Necrons scary sad motherfackers. And lastly Tau the obnoxipus bastards. Fifth The smurfs. And so on.

Remember seeing this tribute for the first time, when i was heavily intoxicated with mind altering substances. The way i felt and experienced this tribute is just pure awesome. In my eyes it all started with regular squads of recruits with first blood skirmishes. First trials of fire. Then on the second phase of this tribute when the Immidiate music kicked in i felt like watching the real deal, battle hardened warriors. And the third part was all about the legends, saints and veterans.

Adepta Sororitas, my favourite fighting force in the Imperium. Who doesn't like hot chicks shooting aliens, daemons & heretics? They're far more awesome than the Imperial Guard or Space Marines from my perspective.

The gap is quite large apart from the equipment. You're talking about dudes with ceramite-strengthened bones, rib cages that have fused into one bony plate, who can go for weeks without sleeping, take nourishment from anything they put in their mouth, have a secondary heart, a third lung that filters poisons and lets them breathe underwater, a black carapace that makes them one with their power armor, spit acid, and so on and so forth.

Indeed, the Daughters of the Emperor did become the Brides of the Emperor during Goge Vandire, but afterwords, they became the Adepta Sororitas - Sisters of Battle,
"One notable change was the Decree Passive of the High Lords, which declared that the Ecclesiarchy could have no men under arms."
Thus they became "Women under Arms" and give their lives to the emperor, and if my memory serves, they are forbidden to have court-ship with any men.

Every picture told its own story. Now, every time im tripping, im reading 40k lore. This is something out of this world.

This has got to be my favorite of your works Makkovar. I think because this was your hardest to do you really put forth a lot of effort into it and it paid of nicely.
Out of the many tributes to the sisters of battle I feel this one is the best.

My point is that he didnt reckonize how powerful chaos was until til after half the legions of the space marines were divided into 2. That is why he called for the creation of the inquision and ultimately to the creation of the the sisters of battle. To fight the threats that the conventional forces of the imperuim cannot fight.
I just love how Space Wolves kicked Sisters asses after the "inqusitors" decided that Wolves are doing something heretical. Just downright stupid. Leman Russ even went into the the eye of terror so he could get the cure for the Emperor.

What was the most troubesome was getting those all music pieces and pics together. At first I thought I will have not enough pics but in the end I had to throw some of them out...

@Zelretchify You are correct in saying that they are technically a part of the military wing of the Hereticu. However Inquistors can also call upon their own agents and most have atleast a squad of stormtroopers in their retinue. And like it was said, the Ecclisearchy and the Hereticus call them in when they want to make sure the taint is completely and utterly removed. In my opinion the only ones more effective at battling Chaos in the Imperiums aresnal are the Grey Knights and their Malleus.

The suits the Adeptus Sororitas use are a different version of Power Armor. They increase their physical capabilities, but due to the fact that the Sisters do not go through the genetic implantation like the Space Marines do they have a slightly lesser version of the Standardized Space Marine Bolter.
Well... this is probably the best WH40K tribute on youtube, and I've seen them all. Fantastic work Makkovar!
I could imagine the following set up:
Intro: The priest from IG stating "The End of Days is upon us". Scenery revealed: Terra, the Palace of the Emperor - Chaos on advance, the defenders valiantly fighting their last battle. Next scene:The Golden trone, foul Chaos Wizards are setting up a dark ritual to imprison the Emperor forever in his mortal shell.Suddenly the Chaos General chest is glowing from a hit of plasma.Cypher on the scene. Suicide atomic bombing.The conquest for the empire starts..

Hey guys! So, I am a fan of Warhammer, especially it's lore which I believe no other Sci-Fi franchise has been able to match, but that's just my opinion. Anyways, Warhammer, it seems, is having a big year with 4 major titles coming out soon. I still think that the community, or we, can do something to give Warhammer the attention it needs. Take ScrewAttack for example. They have deathbattles on a fairly frequent basis and I think it would be nice to get Warhammer in at least one of them. If you guys think it would be a good idea to post comments for our immortal Godemperor to face Darth Sidious in an upcoming one, please, leave a comment and maybe we can all come up with something. Remember, "When in doubt, throw more men at it." They can't stop all of us.

I would have imagined that, especially on less organised/populated planets, sisters defending the shrine would have a role in law enforcement, at least in keeping the peace in the area immediately surrounding the shrine.
If there was a disturbance taking place and the arbites were not available on this planet, or going to take a while to respond, I can't see why the sisters wouldn't sort it out.
Probably to the detrement of those causing the disturbance, and anyone else nearby.
*Be aware of the entire wrong setup: The Adepta Sororitas ARE NOT THE "Daughters of the Emperor"*- these were the SORORITAS SILENTUM only ! (the only onces except the CUSTODES and the SIGILITE(S) to the EMPEROR ITSELF directly at eachtime!!) in prior times !
HERESY! Everyone knows that Adepta Sororitas are pre-engaged to the Emperor himself.
He's not wrong. The rulebook specifically points out that an Inquisitor may call in anything he desires, from Marine Chapters to Titan Legions. What is true, however, is that not all Chapters actually answer a request, and that the Inquisition rarely punishes them for it (waste of resources).
But sometimes they do. It's one of the proposed battle narratives in the 3E SoB Codex - the Sisters being dispatched against a Marine Chapter who refused to help out.

The Tau High Command was roughly aware of what was going on,
just that their reinforcements did not arrive in time to save the colonies, and in terms of tactics and combat prowess, the local Tau defenders were "hopelessly outmatched".

I think at the beginning of a battle you should roll a die and if you get a 4 or 5 you get the "On the Rag" bonus, causing them to automatically win close combat.

They are not only recruting Orphans, special the ones from the Schola Progenium. They also recrut common Women with the right trust in the emperor.
They do have an extremely wide band of personalities, they are even sorted by personality into their orders. It's just a matter of being creative and research. But yes there is a hardcore Heretic burners but they are meant to be the banner bearers of the Emperor's love and welcome new world into the Imperium.

well here is an example of how they are more protected in terms of gameplay: most sqds can get 3 invul in middle of the battle their strength can be increased, there Initiave* can be increased, there bullets can be guided by faith to find weak points in the enemies armor and in terms of game play sisters of battle have the best moral system. They can have book of St. Lucius which essentially makes them stubborn for dirt cheap and if they break they auto rally regardless of restrictions sm cant.
And none but one of the sisters of battle have ever fallen to the chaos.
I understand how hard it can be to find good Sister pics these days, but you pulled this tribute off nicely. Well done! 5/5
I collect a SoB army and they are great fun to paint and a big challenge. Making them look realistic and elegant is a challenge and getting right down to the details is hard but it's amazing what you find you've missed in the model when you paint them. The sisters have a much better background to the SM and to be honest they are Zealots of 40k. I'd get them and paint them. I'm writing stories to go with mine ^^ far more character than SMs

At first the Haemonculi helped the Tau to fight off the Tyranids with their frankenstein monsters. In return they requested a lot of Tau personnel for "cultural exchange."
Then the Tau realised that said personnel were actually getting experimented on and turned into more frankenstein monsters, which were later used against the Tau.
Finally the DE main force appeared and slaughtered/captured all the Tau defenders.
Those last songs are from "Themes for Orchestra & Choir 3". I had them on my profile but they were removed at the request of the composer, so they're pretty hard to find

The Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle) are the most pure and fanatical of the God-Emperor´s servants. They are depolyed for missions mainly against worlds with heavy Choas infestation, where even the mighty Space Marines would fall to corruption.
In the final battle against Chaos it will be the Sister of Battle Orders that leads the God Emperor´s armies to victory.
They can be once they're altered through training, psycho-conditioning, and of course loads and loads of bio-engineering. Basically, the Primarchs geneseed is implanted into recruits, and then the recruit's geneseed is recruited into another recruit, and so on and so forth. In a way, they're closer to sons than clones. I imagine the Emperor cloned or had many copies of the Primarchs geneseed Pre-Heresy in order to create the Legions.
I have planned to build an IG army this summer, but I don't have the funds to do so yet (I'm working on it though...). They will be standard Cadians but with all sorts of grey painting for cityfight. The regiment is called 257th Ruben Vanguards.

Sisters power armor does increase the users physical strengh just like marines armor, just think of the exo-suits in the matrix films thats basically what power armor is under the outer skin.
What the black carapace does is it allows the marine to directly interface with the armors systems the armor becomes almost like a second skin to them, it just basically allows them to use the armor efficiently than someone without it.
@BurningQuranDay Wrong on at least one count - Inquisitors can in fact call in the Space Marines. No one is above the Inquisition. As for the role of the Sororitas, they really are the Ordo Militant of the Hereticus. Where the Arbites (on the whole) deal with common crims, the role of the Sororitas is to purge Chaos wherever it infiltrates humanity.
Sisters of battle! MAAAAAARCH!!! For the Emperor! Let none survive! Torch them all! Let them boil in their own blood, do not leave a single one breathing, do not blink until every last of them is burning cinders, cinders and ash!

Sisters of battle don't get strength and life support benefits because they are not implanted with the black carapace, that allows the Adeptus Astartes (space marines) to interface fully with their own armour.
No Sister would turn from the grace of the Immortal Emperor. They recieve special psychic screening and training from birth to ensure purity of their souls, and unlike the Space Marines they venerate the Immortal Emperor as a God.

you can say everithing about this girls but two things you can not denied one the sisters of battle are the most loyal servants of the emperor and two i havent seen a sister of battle fall to the corruption of caos so in my opinion the sisters of battle deserve a new chance of shine in a new warhammer game whats your opinion people
Of course, it was Chaos' trump card in a sense. The Emperor made the mistake of caring too deeply about Horus and that was part of the trap Chaos had laid to take advantage of it. And it ALMOST worked. Let's face it, he likely would have died there if that lone Custodes (personally I liked the Imperial Fist Terminator version) didn't arrive and get his ass obliterated.
They always recruit, it's pretty much the only way Loyalist marines are propagated. Now CSM, I've heard all these weird things, cloning, breeding vats, etc.

The difference between a Space Marine and a Sister of Battle? Well, one has implants, and the other is an Adeptus Astartes.

I view them like this. If you seen the anime called hellsing, there are special organisations like hellsing and the iscariot which are designed to fight off vampires and other abominations of hell. Now if in the hellsing series they sent a normal military army that would get completly annilated and probably possesed*. So how this translates into the 40k universe, the sisters of battle and grey knights are designed to fight off the forces that the conventional forces of the imperium cant.
@BurningQuranDay Actually,they're really more of a highly recognizable, well-armed internal police force. Sisters are kind of the Imperium's religious equivalent of the GSG-9 or SWAT: Equipped with distinctive gear designed to scare the hell out of the enemy, well armed, extremely well trained, and able to both cow heretical groups and root them out if need be. They're the Chamber Militant of the Hereticus, after all. You call in Sisters when you *really* need it dead.
How to win.
Put the Imperial guard in the front and middle, put sisters of battle in a rear and tell them to kill any one who dears to run.
Ugh, if the Emperor had lost... that probably would be the end of it right there. Without him, only Malcador would have been keeping that portal deep within the Palace closed, and he was being fried alive trying to do just that. Bad enough all that Chaos outside the Palace, but inside as well? The reinforcement Legions would arrive only to find Hell where Terra once was. If they didn't get lost forever in the Warp.
@nexusstalker That's simply not what GW's own books say, though. In fact, they list the intended high level of purity for all progena as the chief reason for gender seperation - they had bad experience with the opposite under Vandire's reign. Where necessary (keeping in mind that the SoB have their own techniques and tactics), the training regime can be absolutely identical based on what their tutors know. You don't *need* the kids to intermingle at all for that.
I just gave one example - that does not mean that there aren't more. If you want to read up on a whole Order of Sororitas having fallen to Chaos, you might want to read up on what happened on the planet Parnis. ;)
I am a Sisters-fan myself, but I do acknowledge their weaknesses - which make them all the more human, and thus more sympathetic to me.
Actually the bolter the sisters use is superior to the one that the Marines use because it less prone to jamming and smaller but still has the same stoping power.
The power armor they use is essentially the same apart from the fact the marine armor has alot more ablative plateing which makes the armor look alot more bulky.
The sisters of battle are (They are just the Orders militant)... But they are not all what the Adepta Sororitas has to offer.

The Power Armor may or may not boost their strength a little, but not to the same extent as it would on a Space Marine/Chaos SM. SoB and Inquisitors lack the Black Carapace that Marines have, which interfaces with the Armor to a level that makes it like a second skin. They also lack the Marine's gene boosted strength.
At 2:11 the seraphim fires like it another day on the job...

I guess it is best to compare the Living Saints to "ordinary" Sisters Militant like a stick of magnesium to candles. Their lifes burn a lot brighter, but only for an incredibly short duration.
@DrMabuse2006 They *are* nigh-universally liked or looked up to because they are even more rare than Marines and few people actually have -any- business with them. Cain's "difference" is another issue entirely, for someone like him would have never become a Commissar in the first place. Unlike what Mitchell seems to think the Schola does not -force- people into specific roles. Someone who is a coward and not martially inclined will simply get trained to be an Administratum clerk.

@avrey52 There's only one expansion as of now, and the races are SM, CSM, Nids, Eldar and Orks. It's probablly gonna take a few more expansions, like in DoW1, before we see them there.
I say only Dies Irae and the Iron Warriors did it already in the past. Dias Irae was the Titan who brought down the gates of the palace of the emperor himself. It was possible, it is possible and it could open up the next chapter in W40K universe.
The Sister of Battle are the Militant arm of the Ecclesiarchy and they use a lighter version of the Space Marines power armour....they are all women although other people from the Ecclesiarchy will usually accompany them.
