+Nikolaus Brocke Very true, Brett's a wonderful guitarist with lots of taste and chops! As you say, his navigational skills are excellent too; wait till you seen the full version of Grasshopper - not an easy tune to solo over!
+Jason Sidwell I learned to play the grasshopper song, just hearding, but I'm did not get the backingtrack, not found. I see you playing this song in youtube. Congratulations.
Brett's an amazing talent. He has it all great sense of melody, feel incredible slide playing and he can sing as well. I've taken a few lessons with him and he's a fountain of knowledge. Which reminds me I'll need to catch up with again soon.
I love looking at the wear marks individual players leave on their fret boards. All players have some areas they rarely touch, some more than others of course. But Bretts ESP tele (with very few minor exceptions) only shows he doesn't use the low E string much past the 12th fret. Otherwise, that fret board has been very well used everywhere.
+Dschungelsepp Brett's picking hand technique is very smooth; when he wants to even out the dynamics a pick stroke or a finger pick are played at the same strength. Fingers will also generally produce a thicker and warmer tone than a pick. Indeed, Slam Bam is the musical equivalent of a toboggan ride!
Trango Fast - Brett uses many scales/modes in his playing along with arpeggios and a healthy amount of chromaticism. To pin his usage down to, say, five note pentatonic scales and seven note Mixolydian and Dorian modes doesn't quite provide a substantial enough representation.
Absolutely the most underrated guitarist alive. In a very small group I call: the best.
Brett is one of the best guitar players on this planet! My favorite!
one of my favorite players and such a nice person.
Brett is an amazing musician and a really nice, kind human being as well.
I love his saxphone approach to the guitar. Love his album Dark Matter. One of the best guitarist we have on earth.
one of the greatest to pick up the instrument......every guitar track he lends, elevates the track.
I must say it again: Brett Garsed is one of the best. Great phrasing and how beautiful he plays with the harmony changes.

Awesome...Stunning as Always..
Sign of a truly great giutarist: he plays five or six completely different guitars, and they all sound just like 'Brett'.

How was this recorded? The guitar sounds so fat and smooth, hardly any pick attack. The playing in Slam Bam is incredible.

+jasonsidwell Is this a miced amp? The sound is so fat.
+Dschungelsepp Yes, the amp was mic'd. Here is Brett's gear: Rola JTM 45 amp, Carl Martin Plexitone pedal, Rode NT1-A microphone.
+jasonsidwellThank you very much. Best sound I've heard in quite some time.
+Dschungelsepp You're most welcome. Very true, Brett's got an outstanding tone for all of his solos here.
Your T-Sirth, I wanna one for Me!!!!
what kind of scales does this guy use?
