- Der TX802 ist ein Rackmount-Gerät, das Teil der DX-Reihe der zweiten Generation von Yamaha ist. Der Tongenerator ist identisch mit dem des DX7II, wobei der gleiche 16-Bit-DAC für einen klareren Klang sorgt als beim ursprünglichen 12-Bit-DX7.
Es verfügt über 16 polyphone Stimmen und sechs digitale FM-Operatoren, genau wie im DX7 II. Es gibt 128 Preset- und 64 User-Patches für eigene Sounds sowie einen externen Speicherkassettensteckplatz.
Der Hauptunterschied zu Keyboard Version, besteht in der Möglichkeit, bis zu 8 Patches übereinande zu legen, allerdings bei einer maximalen Polyphonie von 16 Stimmen. Jedes Instrument verfügt über eine eigene Ausgangsbuchse, was es zu einer äußerst flexiblen Maschine macht.
The TX802 is a rackmount device that is part of Yamaha's second generation DX range. The tone generator is identical to that of the DX7II, with the same 16-bit DAC providing clearer sound than the original 12-bit DX7.
It features 16 polyphonic voices and six digital FM operators, just like in the DX7 II. There are 128 preset and 64 user patches for custom sounds, as well as an external memory cassette slot.
The main difference to the keyboard version is the ability to stack up to 8 patches on top of each other, but with a maximum polyphony of 16 voices. Each instrument has its own output jack, making it an extremely flexible machine.

Schön, dass du ein weiteres Schätzchen gerettet hast! Bezüglich dem Gehäuseausschnitt für die Kaltgerätebuchse (7:30) - diese Standard-Trennscheiben nutzen sich sehr schnell ab, sind spröde und brechen sehr schnell und den Wechsel fand ich durch die Schraubbefestigung immer umständlich! Ich kann wärmstens die Dremel EZ SpeedClic Metall-Trennscheiben empfehlen! Die Trennscheiben haben einen größeren Durchmesser (38mm), sind gewebeverstärkt wie die großen Trennscheiben. Dazu es gibt einen praktischen Aufnahmedorn mit werkzeuglosem Schnellwechsel-System. Das System funktioniert mit Federdruck - ein schöner Nebeneffekt ist, dass die Trennscheibe auch seitliche Belastungen besser wegstecken kann. Eben, weil die Scheibe nicht gänzlich starr befestigt ist. Das Ganze kostet ein bisschen mehr, aber lohnt sich wirklich!! Diese Trennscheiben haben dafür auch eine wesentlich längere Standzeit. Kannst du ja mal ausprobieren, wenn deine Trennscheiben aufgebraucht sind…

I see that you use a battery holder with the exact size of the pin pitch, where do I buy it?
I always have a hard time finding the perfect size.
First of all, thank you very much for the nice comment. I ususlly just use the Standard Socket for the batteries. In some cases they actually match the hole spacing, in other cases I extend the Pins with blanc wire accordingly and also fix the Socket with Hot glue

Out of curiosity, since you have replaced all other electrolytics in power supply, why leaving the main filtering one the old original?

In lack off I had to order the big one. During the restoration I recieved the cap and changed it. The procedure is not in the video.

A guy in the next village is selling a TX802. I had the chance to buy it before, in November 2022, but only got a Proteus 2000 off him. I don't think he sold any modules since I saw him, except perhaps a U-220 or something like that.
The TX802 now has developed a fault, possibly in the PSU. So I'm wondering whether I should make him an offer on the unit, considering that I'll have to go and try to repair it. While I know what end of a soldering iron to hold, and I recently changed the voltage of an EX-8000 (from US to Europe), I'm a bit worried what else I might find: leaking capacitors, leaking battery, maybe something else.
If you dont get it you will never find out! So give it a try.
Hallo Synth Hunter. Ich hatte auf deiner Seite vor Monaten nach einem OLED Display für meinen Roland U220 gefragt, kann auch ein LCD sein.
Ich finde keines , kannst du mir helfen?

Hallo Dietmar, es ist sicherlich schwierig ein exaktes Ersatzdisplay zu bekommen. Du könntest aber das Display hier ausprobieren. Technisch müsste es gehen. Ob es genau rein passt, kann ich nicht sagen.

Du hast vergessen das Display einzubauen!
Die Überlegung war da. Allerdings bestand noch keine Notwendigkeit. Das LCD ist wirklich noch gut zu erkennen.
