    Nice vid. Can you not just use a c-clamp to push the pistons in like you can on the fronts?

    My FWD mk7 350 140 has a rear stub axle diameter of 45mm. The dust ring is built into the wheel bearing assemble and is supplied already inserted into the bearing housing. I can only assume this is the 36mm spline with a separate dust plate. Having completed this job I can recommend just taking the stub axle off (4 bolts) and throwing everything else away. Get a new stub axle, disk and hub with bearing. The bearing hub and disk are usually welded together with unbreakable rust. Additionally they are welded to the hub spigot. Don't waste your money on pullers and special tools, just throw away the hub, disk and stub axle as one unit

    I thought hub nut was +400 nm. I'm gonna have to check that out.got some good advice from this video as I've not done this job before.
    Cheers

      Thanks 👍, my hub nut was a 44mm flange which was I believe 300nm, if you have a 51mm flange hub nut then it will be 450nm. Do you know your hub nut size by any chance?

    • @kenjohnson1041
      @kenjohnson1041 4 роки тому +1

      Dan-The-Man I believe it's a 36mm

    • @Shifty761989
      @Shifty761989  4 роки тому +1

      Ok, not sure about that one then, my spec sheet only states 44mm and 51mm flange hub nut, the overall measurement of the nut, tip of flange to tip of flange, mine was a 36mm spanner to remove the nut but the nuts overall flange length was 44mm. Hope this helps

    • @kenjohnson1041
      @kenjohnson1041 4 роки тому

      Dan-The-Man so 36mm with a depth of 44mm? All that will require is a deep socket.I'll find out when I tackle the job!

    im struggling getting the t50 bolts off the hub, i have snapped two, halfords advance t50 torx sockets, using a 24 inch breaker bar. Any tips on getting them out?

      If they’re really stuck in best bet would be heat and impact, do you access to a blowtorch? Maybe from friend/family, or a impact wrench (not driver), even a battery one might help. If you don’t I can only suggest filling with good penetrating fluid and leave overnight. Hope this helps

    • @ScottyPEightySix
      @ScottyPEightySix 3 роки тому +1

      Yeh , I’m a plumber so I have a blow lamp.
      I don’t have a impact wrench , just makita impact driver. Only thing I have is wd40 here.

    • @Shifty761989
      @Shifty761989  3 роки тому

      Ok well I’d be tempted to give bolts good soaking overnight then the following day just wipe excess fluid off and heat around it, don’t go crazy with heat near the bearing, I’ve only got a plumbers blow torch and that’s what use, in fact I think I did even need to use it on this job. Good luck 👍
