    That's informative an all but would you mind telling me how long a bath back scrubber handle should I have to avoid bumping it into the shower doors plz?

    What about the top side of sliding shower doors? I see ours is clamped with looks like aluminum clamps, not rubber between that. Just metal to glass. Should I add rubber spacers?

    Thank you Mark, very good video. Just a question, why do we need to apply the safety film on the exterior of the door not the inside?

    • @MarkMeshulam
      @MarkMeshulam  6 років тому +3

      Thanks for writing. The wet environment might cause the film to delaminate over time. If the film is specifically designed for the outdoors or a wet environment, then you can use it on the shower-side.

      Thank you for your reply Mark. My shower glass door is 10mm thick. What thickness safety film do I need? 2mil, 4mil, 8mil or 12mil? Thank you.

    I would like to know if there would be less of a chance of a frameless sliding glass shower door (only one door sliding, other glass panel fixed) shattering if there are the following:
    1. The glass panels are 3/8 inch thick (hopefully the thicker the glass, the less chance of shattering?)
    2. Vertical PVC/vinyl seals on all edges of the glass except the edge of the glass of the fixed panel which is attached to a metal strip, attached to the wall
    3. On the bottom edge of both the fixed panel and sliding glass door, there are PVC/vinyl seals
    4. On the top metal support bar where the rollers are, there is a rubber shower door stopper near each side end.
    5. There are two anti jump pegs under the metal support bar.
    Thank you, Linda

      Hi Linda,
      Thickening the glass may increase chances of breakage due to nickel sulfide. Protecting the glass edges is always good.

      @@MarkMeshulam Thank you, Isn't Pyrex glassware made from tempered glass? But I have not heard any reports of this shattering like shower doors.

    do you find that toughened glass which has a bevelled profile edge for a transparent 'H' joining bead used in internal glass walls shatters with thin sharp shards around the edge due to the bevelled profile. ???
    I had an injury at work and recieved a puncture wound which they now claim was not possible.
    thanks for the useful vid !

      Shower door with a security film applied outside the glass is a solution. mail me and will explain more...

    • @MarkMeshulam
      @MarkMeshulam  6 років тому

      When tempered glass breaks, the shards around the edge tend to be longer. It's as if the edge is snapping off. I can imagine that with a beveled edge you could get a long thin shard breaking off, but I have not seen it firsthand.

    I need to replace the handles on my shower door. Can i use a glass/tile drill bit to widen the hole for the bolt through the glass? It is currently 6mm and I need it to be 8mm

    • @MarkMeshulam
      @MarkMeshulam  3 роки тому

      No you can't drill tempered glass. It will shatter.

    Thank you - my shower door "exploded" at 2am last night. My wife though we might have a ghost :) but on a serious note it is massively dangerous - if our child had been in the room when it happened the consequences would have been unthinkable,

    You mentioned installing safety film on the exterior of the door. Where can I get this film and what is the exact name of it?

    • @MarkMeshulam
      @MarkMeshulam  6 років тому

      Google "window film" and ask the vendor for a safety film that holds glass together in the event of breakage.

    My shower door exploded while my 9 years old daughter was in the shower. Luckily she was uninjured! THE INDUSTRY MUST MAKE CORRECTIONS instead of passing the buck!
