The amount of secrets and Easter eggs is one of the reasons this game is so great. I’ve watched a bunch of videos on banjo but still didn’t know about the different animations on the start screen, the town on the boat in rusty bucket bay, or the bottles attempt the delete the save file. Nintendos biggest mistake was not purchasing rare.
On the topic of erasing your save file, there are certain "illegal" cheats, these cheats can be used to open worlds, remove note doors or other obstacles in the lair. Use three of these and Grunty WILL erase your save. The game continues as normal, until you hit save and quit... upon return to the file select screen it will be GONE.
Funny thing is, there is even a cheat code to remove the first note door. The 2nd level with the sand castle (where you can enter those codes) is *behind* that door, so that code is kinda useless.
There's actually gameplay mechanics unique to the washer transformation. Washer Banjo is immune to all types of damaging floor by default (The swamp water in Bubblegloop Swamp or the hot sand in Gobi's Valley, for example), but Washer Banjo is unable to wear the Wading Boots or the Running Shoes.
I always loved how the classic Rare platformers were packed with secrets. I can't tell you how many hours I spent obsessing over the ? eggs and ice key teased at the ending. There was something magical about how it felt like the game never quite ended and there were still more to be uncovered.
@@cathycatsville67 Yes its pretty rare. You might not get it in entrie playthrouh. However it actually just happened in gamexplains recent livestream. Check their newest banjo kazooie live stream and check pinned comment that has timestamp.
There's ONE more thing you forgot, and it's not a secret, but rather an Anti-Cheat method. When three cheats (other than the ones obtained from the Bottles Bonus puzzles and the ones required for Stop 'n' Swop) are typed in Treasure Trove Cove's sand castle, Grunty threatens to delete your save after the first two, but unlike Bottles, she's not kidding about deleting your save after the third one. So, better safe than saveless, GameXplain.
I love how we can hear that Banjo is playing Donkey Kong Land on the Game Boy in the third save file of Banjo-Kazooie! I recognized the game's sound from Donkey Kong Land on the day I played Banjo-Kazooie for the very first time on the N64! I also love how that's why the Donkey Kong characters were in Banjo-Kazooie's Smash Bros. reveal trailer which is just the coolest!
I always thought it was an 8-bit banjo theme (music in the intro at least) but I’ve never played Dkl so I’m unfamiliar with the music in that game. Must be very similar!
I literally just hear the banjo kazooie 8 bit rendition playing. I don't hear donkey kong land at all unless it also plays the BK music for some reason
Fun fact about 2:46: Surprisingly, in the Xbox 360 version of the game, despite that Microsoft owns the series, the Game Boy is still in that version too (minus the start up jingle).
It's almost weird having this be a port of the original instead of the Xbox Live version at this point. The renewed lack of access to the Stop N Swop stuff is an altogether nostalgic but strange regression, haha. I suppose it's cool that both versions are relatively easily accessible on modern hardware, though. Still stands as my second favorite game of all time, behind Super Mario RPG
@@ToothPickOriginalz True, technically. Rather than speaking of a mediocre port, we're talking instead about mediocre emulation. At least this version has the Notes respawn each time―I know that's thought to be "harder" than the 360 change, but I do prefer it that way
if i recall correctly the Bottles puzzle progress only stays on that current game session. meaning if you save and quit and want to do Wishy Washy Banjo right away, you cant. you have to do ALL of the puzzles again. ouch.
There is also a secret or maybe a glitch in the file select screen. When you watch the demo play in the title screen until it reaches the fight with the frogs in Bubblegloop Swamp with the fast music, then press the Start button and scroll to save file 3 the music from the Bubblegloop Swamp frog fight plays instead of the 8 Bit Game Boy Banjo music.
The sandcastle cheats in Treasure Cove, are problaly the most infamous secret that Rare has made, since the day it came out. Also, don't cheat too much or Grunty will punish you by delecting your save files. 😅
But thats only if you use cheats that are not obtainable in the game you can use 2 of them but the third will really delete your save file 😅 a nice method to avoid players using too many cheats but it seems that made lots of players angry as they removed it in Banjo Tooie were you can use every cheat code with no punishment 😅
1. If you enter too many gameplay cheats (not cosmetic ones), then Grunty the witch will threaten to delete your save file. Unlike Bottles though, she will actually do it! 2. There are 2 other transforms that Mumbo will mention, only to save them for the sequel. 3. You could have at least teased the Swop and Swap a little, before the seperate video on it. Beating the game with 100% completion teases the player with this, showing screenshots. 4. Since Microsoft killed Rare and forced them to work on stuff they didn’t want to, most of the original team left. Since then, some of those legendary developers started their own company known as Playtonic. 5. Kirkhope has said earlier that he did not intend to “copy” that tune. It was an accident he did not learn of until later.
One of my favorite secrets is in Rusty Bucket Bay. If you listen to the theme for Rusty Bucket Bay, there's a portion where you will hear 3 whistles. When you are near the whistles at the front of the ship, the whistles will not play in the theme.
Hey, GameXplain, I love all 10 Banjo-Kazooie secrets. I love Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest and Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. I like Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K. Rool and Banjo &;Kazooie because they're four popular Rare characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I love this video.
I can definitely hear the similarities between Gruntilda's Lair and Teddy Bear Picnic. However when You hear the similar notes each song does go into its own direction, so I wouldn't call them identical. Also those same notes are arranged in a different fashion, which gives each melody its own tune or flavor.
I´m not really sure if i ever heard Teddy bears picnic, but the grunty lair OST had always a deja vu feel to me. At 2:33 Banjo is not really playing DK land. He is playing Banjo Kazooie with the soundfont from the DK land games. And my personal fun fact: For me, captain blackeye looked like a muppet character. xD
I am assuming the stop n swop codes can still be used, it’s a question of whether the game data stops saving after doing so. Either you can enter them manually without any penalty like the OG 64 version or you have to have save data for Tooie which we will most likely get later and won’t need to enter the codes like on the Xbox version.
You don't get punished for using the stop n swap codes you can enter all of them and collect the items but as we all know they do nothing 😅 i highly doubt they are going the extra mile to make them have a function in Banjo Tooie IF that even gets released for Switch... hopefully it does
Yoir forgetting the codes you can enter on the sand castle to remove the ice to gain entry to the giant ice key and different codes to gain access to the hidden mystery eggs aswell
I really hope we get dk64 and diddy kong racing since those have not seen a rerelease in over 20 years (I think, I’m not sure if they ever made it to virtual console due to copyright issues)
I kinda hate these ROMs that we don't actually own that will go away when the online service ends, but I guess it's better than nothing for those who've never had the pleasure of playing them before
the fucking Freezeezy entrance is an advent calendar...yeah i never would have guessed that. ive seen them over the years nowadays and it still didnt come to mind. maybe if the individual square had been marked or something? any time ive seen an advent calendar they are usually lined up with numbers or some other thing to signify where the "pocket" is.
If you enter CHEAT and then OUTOFTHESEAITRISESTOREVEALMORESECRETPRIZES, you get to enter Sharkfood Island and collect the Pink Secret Egg shown in the 100% ending when you've beaten the game with 100 Jiggies. But of course, due to Stop n Swop not working, even if you get the 3 Stop n Swop items along with 4 others not shown by Mumbo, not only will he think you still missed the 3 items but you're stuck with them permanently regardless of which save file you picked.
5:21 oooooooooooh...I thought that was jolly roger. I never played Banjo Tooie lol so I just thought that was him and he and Grunty have "history". All these years...WASTED ON IGNORANCE!!! 🤣 I'll just have to wait for Tooie to come to NSO...hopefully this year.

The cheat codes in this game are so legendary. I wish more modern games had cheat codes. They are very fun to play around with!
I also remember there are some that grunty will erase your save file and it’s funny😂😂😂
A relic of the 90s and early 2000s for sure
Companies learned that they can sell cheat codes as dlc, which I wish they hadn’t learned how to do
