Thanks Brian. I'm really happy with the visibility of the rock in this just appearing from behind the trees. Like alll forests it just needs some time now to mature
Yeah they seem to work really well no matter what we do with them. I've yet to do a very vertical composition yet, so I think I'll have to perhaps plan something like a large stone pillar with one lone tree clinging onto side
I knew this would look amazing 🥰 Those compositions are made for looking at them and dream of being there ❤️ Thanks Tony and enjoy your day 😘🙋♀️ Cheers Martina
Thanks Martina. I agree. I normally snowboard in the special in the Austrian Alps and I just love looking at the wonderful trees more than the actual snowboarding 🏂🏂
i kinda like the mother daughter in a less conventional shape ... some children grow away from their parents on the human end of things too. the planting turned out great i really like it.
The composition looks great. I didn't know nothofagus grew so well from cuttings. You clearly have the knack. Keep up the video content. Love the double act with your dad.
Nice composition Tony I like it, just hope they all take, in time they will look natural which I know is your aim mate, good luck with it. Take care Tony and dad.
Thanks Joe. If a few cuttings don't make it, that's fine. Nature does a better job than we ever could and the odd bare patch would probably look good and more natural
The moss gives it already a totally different look. The added cuttings look right now like little sticks stuck in the soil but already in a year, it will start to look very differently. I really love this composition.
Great video Tony, yet again. You have certainly made the most from that pot. Nigel Saunders would approve I'm sure and Corin would be pleased to see what you have done with the pot. Keep them coming mate, I still look forward to your videos and your sense of humour. Moses could get lost in that forest in a couple of years mate. Have a good day.
Yeah as soon as I start working on this kind of landscape, I hear Nigel's voice talking about miniaturisation. One area we differ on a little is that I am more drawn to randomness and chaos to play a bigger part
Lovely little leaves. I can't explain why, but I think the Nothofagus is sweeter than the chinese elm, but just as versatile for bonsai! That forest has real promise.
This looks like the sort of terrain I'd expect mountain goats skipping from crevasse to crevasse - rugged foothills with meandering glacial rivers plunging to the lower flood plains. Brilliant!!
Yeah I see a similar scene in there. I like how scruffy the terrain is. I've Just been back to review the video, and I think I'll add a couple of pieces of small deadwood lying on the forest floor to add to the idea that only a goat or deer could live in there
I have searched true many nursery's here in Norway for a notafaguas, but the species is not be find. Butt cant have every species of tree 😂😅 thanks for still posting videos and keep on smiling, mate! You are awesome!
It looks beautiful with the moss on the rock. It gives you the impression that it's a real rocky outcrop with little bits where enough soil has collected for trees to get established. The pot is a lovely colour too!
Cheers my friend Moss really does lift these forests. I'm hoping to add some thicker bits this week to hopefully add the impression if little bushes dotted about
I’m not familiar with that species but it certainly is looking interesting. Between your muck recipe and vet tap promotion id say you’ve made your mark in bonsai lore. Thanks, keep growing
@@TonysBonsai what's the recipe for the muck though? I'd love to use it. I know it's clay (what kind?) and sphagnum moss, and a third thing (can't remember) . But what ratio? Love this idea! ;-)
Hi I'll find a link tomorrow to the video in which I make it, but it's equal parts finely chopped sphagnum moss, coco coir, and pottery clay. I mix the damp coir and moss then add the clay until it's a nice firm consistency a few days before
Hi Tony, I would like to send you a pot or two, that I am making. But I don't know whare to send them. My cancer has been more difficult lately, I haven't shared my work with eny one. I would like to do that before I can't. If it's OK with you can I ? If so whair do I send them. Let's hope it's not cost prohibited.
Hi Jason. Thanks for the lovely offer. I'd love that, but it would also be great to be in touch anyway If you can email me on anthonyhigginsonphotography@gmail.com that would be brilliant mate. I hope you've had a good day today!
Looks great! Looking forward to future updates on your rock composition.
Another excellent video Tony, really interesting work
Thanks Brian. I'm really happy with the visibility of the rock in this just appearing from behind the trees. Like alll forests it just needs some time now to mature
Great planting Tony, I've been jealous of those rocks ever since you first showed them. Your Dad certainty has a good eye.
Yeah they seem to work really well no matter what we do with them. I've yet to do a very vertical composition yet, so I think I'll have to perhaps plan something like a large stone pillar with one lone tree clinging onto side
Super cool Tony, as usual!
Thanks David. Considering I just wanted to use up some cuttings, it's ended up being one of my favourites
That's a good start. Cheers Tony...a nice start indeed.
Thanks Mark. Considering it was really just a way to use up some cuttings, I think it's looking pretty good
Great composition that Tony. Gonna look really good Nice twin truck as well 👍
Cheers Andrew. It's a bit unusual, but definitely has its own character and might well develop into a decent tree with some simple pruning
i kinda like the mother daughter in a less conventional shape ... some children grow away from their parents on the human end of things too. the planting turned out great i really like it.
Cheers buddy. Good point. This planting is probably quite a metaphor for many families although that is getting pretty deep for bonsai 🤯
The composition looks great. I didn't know nothofagus grew so well from cuttings. You clearly have the knack. Keep up the video content. Love the double act with your dad.
Yeah they root really easily
in our climate here. The more you bury the more roots you get.
Definitely a winner with that one Tony and I havemno doubt those roots will eventually grip that rock beautifully. Cheers
It's one to leave to nature to sort out now. Definitely another interesting project

Yeah given a year or two I think this one will really begin to transform into something much more realistic
Great video Tony, yet again. You have certainly made the most from that pot. Nigel Saunders would approve I'm sure and Corin would be pleased to see what you have done with the pot. Yeah me too. In spring, the fresh little leaves are much better and then in autumn they turn a pretty strong
Red which is a nice bonus
Outstanding job Tony and your dad!
Thanks Raymond
Lovely job Tony
Thanks Raymond. Considering this was just a way to use up some extra cuttings, I'm really happy with how it's looking

Email your address to me at anthonyhigginsonphotography@gmail.com and I'll try to get a couple of cuttings in the post to you buddy 😎
Wow thanks Tony that would mean so much to have something from you in my garden!!
Nice Tony looks great 👍👍
Cheers Andy. I'm loving these landscapes. They're so full of detail and most of it just happens by accident 😂

@@TonysBonsai I'm jealous! I can't keep it green here in the summer - too hot, I think.
It looks great on your rock.
👍👌🙂
Awesome love that. im gonna have to do a root over rock scene possibly with birch now :)
Excellent! As you know I love birch and I'm sure they'll work really well for this kind of project
@@TonysBonsai yes indeed I know you do. there's just something about Birch 🙂
Great video as usually. Don’t think it’s double trunk there. More looks like a brunch growing up. Maybe I’m wrong.
It's a funny one. Almost definitely a small tree which was run over by a motorcycle or off road vehicle perhaps when it was 3 years old
I’m not familiar with that species but it certainly is looking interesting. Between your muck recipe and vet tap promotion id say you’ve made your mark in bonsai lore. Thanks, keep growing

Nice Tony, lovely composition. What was the name of that tree?
Hi Kevin. It's a Nothofagus or Southern Beech. Really lovely species for Bonsai
@TonysBonsai I'm getting me one of them. Ebay here I come. Cheers bud.
Hi Tony, I secretly hope the cuttings round the rock all die. It looks very nice with just the rock planting.
Interesting. I suspect some will make it and some will die. I'm thinking nature will make the correct descions.
Looks nice Tony.
I have special video on wednesday: you will love it!

I love your videos anyway Kennet, so I'll definitely look forward to this one mate!
My son and I did a root over rock boxwood. so maybe when he's 100...he'll see it. lol
