Only just found your channel such amazing work. Memories flooding back born and brought up in Battersea I was actually born No 28 Taybridge road in 1971 and we moved to Garfield road only a stones throw just up from the community centre across the road from the Beaufoy arms on lavender hill. Big family so we were lucky to be in a council house. Like more or less everyone I remember had to move away simply could not afford to live there come the 90s boom and bust period. Now in Cornwall what a change will have to pop back some day and walk around Battersea 👍
Thank you Linda for this video. I grew up on York Road Estate in the 70's and 80's and i love seeing how Battersea looked back in the old days. All the pictures of all the old pubs and roads that no longer exist. Battersea will always be home. Thanks Linda 😉
Thanks for the video. We were one of the first families to move on to Surrey lane. My mum & dad still live in mansel court. For nearly 50 years now. I loved growing up in battersea. Best days of my life, battersea park, battersea boy club.
My Dad was the shop steward brick layer foreman for Surrey Lane,,,, I remember him coming back from work, a lot of responsibility that he didn't want,,, Wow here I am in Whitgift House, I can see the sun go down every night😏 It's great he left monuments behind,,💪🤔⚖️🇬🇧 Thanks 🙏 Dad.😇
Absolutely amazing pictures ❤️. I was a 60s child bought up in battersea in the 70s, I went to latchmere infants school and then on to battersea county on culvert road.. the photos bought back some great memories. I moved away from battersea in the early eighties, but have very fond memories of there❤️
@@johnjames8644 I went to latchmere school then onto battersea county would see Timothy spall a lot in battersea county he was a few years older than me
Lovely. Lived many years in SW11. Moved up the road to SW18 now. Latchmere Baths looks nice. I guess they tore it down and it's now the modern Latchmere Leisure Centre. Oh well.
Yet another marvellous video. I've shed a tear this afternoon looking at such nostalgia. I was brought up in Westbridge Road, opposite The Stag pub, with The Farnborough Arms on the next corner. My happiest days were spent in Battersea Funfair - always a special treat on a birthday - a wander on the Tree Walk, a visit to the Devil's Grotto and course, gazing in wonder at The Guinness Clock. Such lovely innocent times.
I loved that picture of the York tavern we lived on the estate behind it in salt burn house in the seventies and I remember Francine lyman and Nancy lyman also the corrugated iron next door where there was a bomb site and an adventure playground ,I also remember the sweeney being filmed in that road and they crashed the car through some fake corrugated iron ,all the kids were up on the third floor balcony watching .thanks great photo
Wonderful memories thank you. Brought up here from 1946. Lived between the commons until i was 15 then went to farm trainning college. Returned a few times to live before working / living in other countries as i am now.
Battersea girl through and through, and proud as well. You can take the girl out of Battersea but you can't take Battersea out of the girl, born in Queenstown Road.
I was'nt born in Battersea, but seeing all these photo's of England make's me feel very nostalgic. I was born in Clacton - On - sea, which I suppose is'nt far away.
Home. Simple as that. I'll probably never be back walking those streets again but Battersea will always be my real HOME. Just thinking of it I suddenly got a craving for a light and bitter now!
Wow... Only just seen this. I used to drink in the Beaufoy Arms on Lavender Hill... And then seeing an old work colleague Coco. Brilliant. I used to wonder how he got home safely, pissed as a fart riding his bike. Thank you for doing this.
I Remember going into Boilingbroke Hospital Xmas 1972 . I was 5yo & Appendix needing to be Removed . I remember Santa Claus turning up & Mince & Mash ♥ . Latchmere Baths same time 5p to enter . The Staff would hand You a Coloured Band to wear . When that coloured Band was called You would have to leave . I remember getting a white band & just putting my big toe in the water & getting the call to leave . I went to the koisk to explain . But No . Rules are Rules 😯 . My Family lived on Sabine Road just off Latchmere Rd near the Fox & Hounds . Fond Memories of Community Spirit & Humour ♥♥♥ ..

That's funny. I live in Clacton on sea now. Yes, good old days, but I wouldn't like to go back to outside loo and old tin bath lol
