👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
Such a SPECIAL band. These are one of those bands that helped open me up to so many styles of music and bands
What a band. Their ICON album is spectacular from start to end, I still remember when it came out ❤🤘
and now the 30th edition came out totally re-recorded !
I saw them perform it last night. What a show 🔥🔥
*_Icon_* forever 🤘!
Icon-лучший дум метал!!!!
Paradise Lost are masters of melancholy, such an amazing band \m/
Your term "abysmally beautiful" you just used to describe the bass tone just struck me as the perfect description of this metal subgenre that we call gothic doomdeath. This band, as well as My Dying Bride (both from UK) and Finland's Swallow The Sun are my favorite bands in this subgenre which is becoming my favorite subgenre because of it's "abysmal beauty".
OMG My favorite band, this is awesome!!! Alright!! :D
kinda surprised it took this long to react to them, they're definitely a legendary band and one of my personal favorites. If you're into doom metal you can't get past these OGs!
Legendary and horribly underrated at the same time.
Or gothic metal. Or electronica. They've covered so many bases.
saw Paradise Lost a lttle while back. Live, in a converted church! Gives all their songs that little it more in that setting! Amazing Band!
My, oh my, I don't think I've listened to this lot since the mid-to-late 00s. That's about to change, though. Thanks for the reminder, neighbour!
Awesome track. I just saw them last night with my dying bride. What a show that was 🔥🔥
I’ve loved this band for many years, and I have this song on constant repeat in my playlist, how gorgeous it is 😱
My favorite parts of this song are the vocals, guitars, bass, drums, and synth/strings.
lol same but also the composition, arrangement, engineering and lyrics!
I was the first to push this video and track on Mike and Ginger's channels a few years back and with music like this is why im A PROUD Yorkshireman!
i also love your phrase 'abysmally beautiful'. there are certain bands that resonate in a different way and are beautiful in the sadness that they describe. paradise lost is one of the best of them. for me, paradise lost, novembers doom, draconian and type o negative are the pinnacle.
I love this song amazing band
So glad they were able to get their vibe back. Amazing band. Pity the Sadness live is another one to check out
Juste new weeks ago they released the ICON 30 album, which is a re-recording of the ICON album that came out 30 years ago (damn !). It's considered as a reference in gothic-or-whatsoever-metal 😊
Never ceases to give me chills
Can't go wrong with PL, they're iconic. Love this one
My fave band. Thanks for the reaction!
I was afraid the world may forget about Paradise Lost. They have changed their sound a lot over the years. So many albums to experience!
Then they came back around full circle and released a run of just brilliant albums
I have seen their less heavy albums get shredded by reviewers, but the one important thing ALWAYS remains: their lyrics. They are always heart heavy and melancholy and that is why they are amazing across all of their albums.
@@DarkMatterBurrito I liked them all. Im not that tightly bound to a genre.
Same, even their Depeche Mode era @@georgeconradie4854
i love that band, since they appeared on the scene, but as they say, the older the wine, the better, and they have proven this with the last 4-5 albums.
Thx for reaction 👍👍
They sound just as good live. Saw them when they toured with Epica!🤘
the sound of Yorkshire
Thank you Geebz
Yes. Thank you for covering this. My fave band for over 30 years now.
This was a fun one, for sure! 💜
check out Enchantment from the album Draconian Times - a little older but the whole album is timeless
The Rise of Denial by Paradise Lost is a great tune, from an album or 2 ago
the patient by tool please.. itll blow your socks off
Again, LATE to a great review and reaction . . .
I think you are going to like most of their catalogue when you do a deep dive . . .
They are one of my all time favorite Metal bands, and they may be considered the Fathers of "Gothic Doom" (and possibly "Death Doom").
Their 3rd album "Shades of God" (1992) was the last album vocalist "Nick Holmes" would utilize the Death Metal/Guttural vocals with his unique baritone, until 2015 with "The Plague Within", going back to their roots.
I didn't care for their 2nd album "Gothic" ironically (which I blindly purchased back then on Lp), I thought Nick's growls were MUCH more heavier than the Guitar tones of those early days. Also, in the 80's, they started to experiment with a more "Alternative" vibe which was hit or miss with me from 1997 to 2001 (3 albums). But then returned to their heavier sound.
But I HIGHLY recommend these albums . . .
Shades of God (1992)
Icon (1993)
Draconian Times (1995)
❤
Since you're listening to stuff from Nuclear Blast. Please consider listening to Nuclear Blas Allstars - The Overshadowing
this is a band with a long history... I think it was more impressive what they did with the Gothic / Icon / Shades albums when they had no money... they always played with "lead" lines not solos per se with the rhythm in the back... you are way late on this band... they are what metallica should have been if they didn't become mainstream imo.. listen to the Icon album, re-recorded now 30 years later... insanely good, you have work to do with this band...
check out Graveyard theyre on nuclear too
try THE HARDKISS - Stones ;)
I like the song overall, but the strings or whatever in the back don’t sound very good to my ears. Sounds too artificial. I love a lot of music that includes that kind of thing, but it often adds a sheen of cheese I have to tolerate. This definitely wasn’t the worst offender in that regard, so I can deal.
Thanks for the reaction!
I’d be surprised if they were not recorded live strings, Paradise Lost have plenty of previous recordings using full live orchestral arrangements. It sounds ok to me, could be wrong though!
