  • This was a very special episode of Curiosity over on my Instagram page (josh_ffw).
I am very happy to be a ambassador for Naoca nd to raise awareness for children of alcoholics.
In this episode I talk about my own journey as the child of an alcoholic and what has happened since I found Nacoa.
From codependency , to chronic people pleasing, I cover a lot in this episode.

At 17:00 is when you started hitting the raw spot. Even at 48, my young parts still miss my dad so much. The man in recovery I knew was deep inside, but was so trapped by his addiction. Thank you for just reminding me my experience was real and I did deserve to make sense of what happened to me.

I only watched this today and though I'm a member I've been unable to bring myself to engage much beyond the forum.
It's really helped to listen to someone who's both been through the experience as a COA and had training to speak to others about it. I feel a bit of relief today, I'm (the now in my 40's) "head-down, be the grown up, do well child", my much younger brothers are apparently jealous, they think I had it easy, but really I'm just clinging on by my finger nails and it's getting harder to maintain the walls. I find it really interesting to hear you talk about being allowed to feel (can't remember the exact words), but I need to give myself a bit of a break!
Thanks for sharing and I will try to join one of the events soon.

my mom has been an alcoholic ever since i could remember, shes lost every job, alot of freinds and she lost custody of me. When my dad passed while i was 8 i knew i was going back to a dark place. ive come to forgive her and realized it was her first time living too. ive forgiven her and love her so much.
