- In May, I traveled to Scotland for the first time. My primary motivation was my plan to hike the Skye Trail, an unmarked, 80-mile trail on the Isle of Skye. Before beginning my hike, I stayed in Edinburgh for a few days, which I spent exploring the beautiful city! 🏴🤍🏙️
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Scotland, look forward to your Skye video ⛰️
Thank you! 😊🥾
Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔝
Thank you ☺️
I've been subscribed since your Isle Royale trip, your ambitiousness to get out and see the world is inspiring :)
Thank you for following along with my journeys ☺️
Great idea to mix some sightseeing in with a backpacking trip! We're looking forward to the trip vlogs as we really enjoyed your Tour de Mont Blanc last year.
Yes, I’m glad I got to do some additional city exploring around the hike! Hoping to get the Skye video out this Sunday, but it may end up being the following week 😅
OMG you are brining back so many memories for me. Thank you Mikhaila. You have covered so many spots that I also went to. 15:02 the top of that hill is called Arthurs Seat. I went up that with my g/friend and we got caught in a storm with rain and very high head winds. We were dressed for it tho. So we cracked on and made it to the top. Coming down was easier as we had the wind basically pushing us all the way down. You got really nice weather for your visit. On to your Skye video now. (Hoping you made it to *Fairy Glen* ) Rob.
Yes, Arthur’s Seat! I did get so lucky with weather while in Edinburgh (wish I could say the same for Skye)
Great video. Such a beautiful city.
It was very beautiful!
1:46 I am a beginner solo traveler and new fan to your channel. I find your work very inspiring to someone who has doubt thinking about beginning my own adventures. Your videos are very well produced and great music. Scotland has been a long-time favorite location I would love to visit. Looking forward to your next video of your hike! Good luck and continued success!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you’ve been inspired by my videos, and hope that you get out on your own adventures. Even when things don’t go to plan (as you’ll see in my Skye Trail video…), I think it’s still worth it to get out and try 😊
@mikhailalynn Thank you for your response. The Skye Trail is something I have admired and would love to do some day. I think you are from Ohio, I am from Perrysburg. I just came back from a week hiking in Hocking Hills. I'm working up to longer and overnight adventures. Smoky Mountains (I liked your video on that as well) and Mt Leconte is my next journey :)))
Have a wonderful time in Scotland!
Ken
Awesome share
Thank you!
Beautiful landscape towards the end of the vlog. Thank you for taking the time to video on your travels. Wondering if there was something about the Skye Trail that prompted your selection to visit there?
Thank you! I first learned about the Skye Trail through watching other UA-cam videos and thought it looked incredible ⛰️
Great video. In less than a year I'm backpacking Hadrians Wall so I have a TON of questions about how you got your pack there? Check it (if so how did you protect the contents)? Carry on? What you could but more importantly what you COULDN'T take.? Can't wait to see the Skye.
That will be such a neat hike! Last year, for the TMB, I checked my pack and almost everything in it, and then it got delayed. More convenient in some ways, but depending on the delay that could totally mess up your trip. When I checked it, I actually packed my backpack and its contents all in a large, sturdy suitcase (my pack itself was empty and flat within the suitcase).
This year, I brought my pack and as much of my gear as possible as a carry on. Things I checked due to restrictions include my trekking poles and my MSR pocket rocket camp stove (my airline specifically had "camp stove" on their "must be stored in checked luggage" list). I also put my tent stakes and pocket knife in my checked bag. You have to buy camp fuel after you arrive because you can't bring that on the plane at all. I think those are the big ones to consider!
@@mikhailalynn Thank you. That helps get me started.
*Hadrians Wall!* You're so lucky Dwayne. Ive wanted to hike that from East coast to West coast for years now. Still havnt got around to doing it. Tip for your kit. Pack your backpack and go do some hiking with it loaded. Get use to its weight while you walk various terrain. Go do some wild camping and try out different things to work out what works and what doesnt work. You dont want to be carrying too much kit that you then find out you dont need or use. Rob.
