- Today we have two new HOT releases from the fall 2022 Seiko catalog. We are looking at the 1970's reissue of the Time Sonar watch. These watches have transparent dials so you can see the full day/date wheels beneath. . . pretty groovy!

Picked both up. These are real magic on the wrist guys. Unbeatable price and they look soo damn cool under the sunlight and at night under the lights. I’m so happy to have both of them. Priceless. ❤

Wow they took the bi coloured kosuke kawamura edition and made two basic versions of it only with indices and lume. These are fantastic looking!

The original Time Sonar had the smoked case back as well. Nice detail. Personally I would have preferred something closer to the original. They look great. Seiko just seem to be milking the 5KX to death. For me, the charm of the 60s and 70s watches was in the funky case designs etc. I'm expecting the 5KX Pogue Edition next 🤣 All the best Marc! .❤

If they do a Pogue re-issue right, I'd get one to go with my original. Then again, ditch the chrono, what's the point?

I have a green dial SRPD61 and I love it. My good friend just bought a SRPJ47K1. When he saw how much I liked his watch, he said "I will buy you one my friend". Just ordered it today. Thanks Gerald ❤️

Are Seiko getting rid of quartz/ solar quartz watches? They founded quartz but seem to favour sprung powered movements again possibly ? They know their market I guess.
Solar is really taking a back seat on the affordable side.
Glenn if you want a high end seiko solar quartz check out the seiko astron line they have some stunners in that group.
Funny how Seiko can’t perfect the Solar like Citizen , I have se several Seiko solars and some Citizen eco drives and the Citizens hold charge way better , very surprised Seiko didn’t improve with the Solar movement

As usual, fine vid Mark! This one is way to big for me. I’m sporting my ISL 73 w the beautiful green dial. A superb watch and very accurate….bezel aligns, lol. Please continue to make sizes for slender wrist folk. Didn’t you just make a 36 mm? I love the 38 mm I wearing now :-) Thanks

Pretty cool. The transparent dial looks good, not cheesy. I actually think skeleton dials are much more cheesy looking. I wonder if they will do any more colors?
I'm going to guess no, since the original didn't come in a host of colors either.

Seiko should do more resin/sapphire style translucent bezel inserts like on their world timers
They definitely missed out on not having a smoked grey dial with a black and grey bezel insert. Wouldve sold like crazy.

@@islandwatch by the way, that GMT on your wrist is gorgeous!! I’m having a hard time resisting buying it! Yet I’m holding back-there are two models I’m waiting for, to come back in LIW stock(hopefully soon 🙏🏻), and both of them together will cost me less than the gmt.
Seiko Solar movements are sub par to Citizen , I’m a huge fan of Seikos styling and mojo but come on Seiko send out a recall on the Solar movements
I have this watch (in brown) if I want to change the strap what model matches it? Any of the SRPD diver bracelets or an SKX model would work with this?

They sure are.
Can Seiko stop including their cheap bracelets and instead cut the price by $80 to $100. Just include an inexpensive nato strap. Another pet peeve is when they include the cheap dive extension on watches that will probably never get used for diving.
I think they should sell the watch and the straps separately. You can pick whatever strap you want. Because their bracelets are horrible.

If you look at their watches, like Seiko 5's, that are offered on both nylon or bracelet you will see there is very little price difference.
These are cool Marc, have you seen the limited edition version? The SRPJ41/3? Will you be getting any of those? So many nods to 70s Seikos.
They haven't hit the USA yet.
I wish it had a JDM day wheel under the dial so you could see Kanji days.

They offer more original "Time Sonar" ish dial Seiko 5s (SBSA177 & SRPJ43JT) reissue as limited edition. And the prices are skyrocketing!

Cool dials, but I just can't spend $315 on one when Islander gives you sapphire, screw down crown, solid end links, sapphire case back, and screw bracelet adjustment for the same price.

Cool dial but no sapphire crystal and no lume on the bezel means I wouldn't be happy with it. Unless I dropped big bucks on mods.
