Wow CP never actually thought about dental expenses while in the “ Land of Smiles “ but I can tell you this ! Last December not long after arriving in Khao Lak I suffered from large swelling to my lower jaw and chin area and had to seek a doctor to investigate what was wrong ! Turned out that I’d contracted some kind of mouth infection in my lower gum area totally out of the blue ! But the examination and administration of antibiotics for 5days with a follow up appointment was trouble free and the doctor could not have been nicer and sorted the problem out without the need to visit a hospital at a cost of only 2,500bhat which I thought was very reasonable for two appointments and medication 💊 👍

Dana, I totally agree. My wife and I had a tooth out, a bone graft and a screw in place for an implant in a few months for under 50% of what I would have paid in Chicago and 60% of what I would have paid in Sydney where we live now. And we’ve had crowns, root canals, veneers, etc. over the last 10 years and our visits to the Dental Hospital near Habito Mall over that time has paid for 2 vacations in what we have saved. Even better, many of the dentists are female with really small hands which is much more comfortable on your mouth!

I’m glad you found a good dentist! I have a similarly good dental provider in Bangkok and the prices are the same. So much cheaper in the U.S. and if you have cavities, they’ll usually fix them on the spot upon exam and cleaning instead of making another 1 or 2 appointments to come back and fix them!

It's so crazy how much healthcare is in America as I cannot speak about other western countries. Not to mentioned dental insurance of having to wait a whole year before they cover you 50% or 25% of the cost or nothing at all! What the hell am I paying you premiums every month for?? Oh yeah, it's so I only have to pay a $10 copay because it would cost me $150 for a check up and teeth cleaning if I didn't have insurance.

Chris two things: first don’t ignore that blood pressure!
Second, 15 years ago my 20-year-old son flew to Thailand to have his wisdom teeth pulled because it was more expensive to get it done in California than it was to fly to Thailand and spend a week in Bangkok! I set everything up by email and even ask them if they would be sure to walk him down to his taxi to make sure he gave the diver the correct address for his hotel. He said the staff was wonderful and everything was very professional. So anytime you have big medical or dental procedures and want to justify a trip to Thailand the savings can basically cover your cost😍

My wife and I visit Thailand yearly. We decided to try a dental group recommended to us, and have since switched from USA to Thailand for our dental care.
The care we get is so much better than in the USA, it is almost unbelievable. And it is exactly like is explained here - inexpensive.
The problem, however, due to cv-19 we had to miss 2 years, but we were sure to see them this last February when we went through Bangkok.
We love the BIDC, however we could not get to them in the beginning of our trip and I had some dental discomfort so we ended up at the public hospital in Tha Sala (Nakhon Si Thammarat) and saw an excellent Dentist there as well. It wasn't as fancy as the BIDC - but they were so good - and (since it was a public hospital) everything, including antibiotics was less than $10.

Had a wisdom tooth extracted there. I formally confirmed total cost before procedure. Dentist told me he predicts it will take 20 minutes. He was pleased it took a bit under 20 minutes. When I went to cashier to pay, the price had gone up about 33%. Confronted cashier who called dentist that had left already. Dentist told me more expensive because procedure was complicated. As a health care professional I asked him in what way because it actually took less time than predicted. He couldn't provide an answer but reverted to original quoted price. Be very weary of jacking up prices if you are not Thai especially in private or so called international clinics. There may a two tiered pricing system, one for Thai's and one for anyone else but make no mistake Thai's with money go to these places so it's not as if you are subsidizing dental care for the less fortunate. I have had mixed results in Bangkok with dentists. Some very competent, some competent? but lazy. I visited one upscale mall luxury dentist with a questionable dead tooth. The dentist just tapped on it. I had to direct the examination and specify that she check the tooth for viability using either heat or cold, the norm in dentistry. The dentist xrayed the tooth in question which was next to a tooth that had a root canal and crown. The dentist told me the adjacent tooth did not have a root canal. She sent me another x-ray. Upon leaving I asked for an xray copy to show to my Vienamese dentist that did the root canal and ask her what's up. The Thai dentist then told me they had first xrayed the wrong side and the root canal tooth in question did have a root canal done.
Incidentally while traveling in Vietnam I needed dental care. Let me say high quality very competent dentists with state of the art technology are readily available. A wisdom tooth root canal cost about 100usd. I have had 2 as well as multiple crowns porcelain fused metal, the same ones as done in Thailand for about 90 usd a piece. No lack of health care providers, DDS, MD in many countries view this two tiered pricing as bizarre and unethical.

Love your channel!!! But this episode alerted me to write you a comment!!! Your #18 lower left side crown and root canal tooth has severe bone loss already. It has a active infection and the prognosis is poor. The Dentist didn’t mention this unless you edited it out of the video. I saw on your Panorex X-ray and the BWX.
Your chances of re-treating #18 with another root canal success is less than 50%! Your best bet is save the money and apply the expense to a Extraction, bone graph and implant if you want to restore it with another prosthetic tooth.
You are familiar with implants because you already have 2 existing ones on #30, #31 on your lower right side. There’s at least 3 options for you for dealing with #18. Different prices for different budgets of course. Full disclosure, I own and operate a dental office in San Francisco California for over 17 years. I’m just looking out for you.

Great report Chris. Been there 3 times in the past and going back later this year for dental implants. International quality standards and half the price for implants that I would have to pay in the states. This place has a team of 6-7 dentists specializing in the various procedures like dental implants, Invisalign braces, etc. I figured a local surgeon here at home does maybe a dozen or so implants in a whole year whereas these guys do hundreds plus they have all the latest equipment. They charged me $6 for a regular x-ray and $27 for a full mouth x-ray. None of this crap at home with paying dental insurance and they either don't cover you until a year and even after that, probably only cover 50% of the cost. It'll cost me less with a great trip to Thailand to boot. Not to mention the $6-10 hour long awesome foot massages. Four star hotel cross the street for $45/night. Can't beat it.

The total cost was just 16,000B which is around 460USD to have 4 wisdom teeth removed. And the service is supreme, and I had no pain after all. No pills were taken. Back in my city HK, it would likely cost about 1,000USD or even more depending on the complexity.

I hated going to the dentist when I was living back in the UK. Having moved out here a few years ago, my teeth were in a terrible state. I decided to go to the local dentist and have them checked out, but because I was so nervous and jumpy they told me they could not work on me and suggested I go to Phitsanulok (Central Thailand and near where I live) to a private hospital that provided dental care. I booked an appointment and went along, I was very impressed with the place, the cleanliness and the staff were very gentle and caring, unlike the UK where you are treated as a item in a factory. After the X-rays and investigation of the bad teeth it was recommended that the teeth had to come out and dentures fitted. Because I hated dentists this filled me with dread. But they offered to put me under using gas whilst removing my teeth, though this meant I had to spend 2 nights in the hospital. when I woke up the next morning I felt no pain from the removal, and then the next weeks were taken up making my dentures (I did not go for the screw in types as I would have to frequent the dentists more often, also it would be like going to a garage for a service!). I now have the dentures which are perfect, and the whole process was painless with the politeness off the staff and service. I highly recommend the Thais on their dentistry and curtious professionalism. The cost for the process including the stay over and staff monitoring me when I was under was 97,000 Baht (2,300 GBP), bargain compared to the UK where it would have been 4 times the amount I paid!

in Thailand that are cheaper than the clinic is a private hospital Cheaper than private hospitals are public hospitals. And cheaper than government hospitals is the government health office where you can extract teeth for only 300-500 baht. Scaling limestone for only 150 baht And what you may not know about the cheapest and best dental treatments are in universities that offer dentistry. You will be treated by dental students but supervised by teachers and specialists. Sometimes it's a student internship. You will get a free oral exam and X-ray. and maintain at a very cheap price I think this content is worth doing is going to see dental clinics at universities. In Srinakharinwirot University where you used to do content there is also a dental clinic of that university. I think you might be interested😁😁🙏🙏

After a lifetime of dental butchery, often very expensive, at the hands of the British NHS I took a risk on getting dental help in Pattaya.
My first experience was hard due to having all my black mercury amalgam fillings removed, four root canals, crowns and bridges. I had four long sessions. £2000.
On a second trip I had old NHS crowns removed and some veneers. The dentist said "I make you beautiful smile". £1000.
He wasn't wrong. I've been getting compliments ever since.
I priced up all the work had I had it in the U.K. and France, where I now live, and it fell in the range of £14k-16k !
It paid for the best holidays of my life and 4 years later I've not had a single dental problem since.

Here is an FYI. I recently had a quote from a dentist in Australia for ONE dental implant $6,500 AUD that's 156,755 THB. I had a root canal done about 12 years ago and it cost around $2,500 AUD that's 60,290 THB so it would seem that dental prices are approx 25% of what they are here in Australia as a rule of thumb.

In 2003 I had my first dental work done in Phuket at Bangkok Hospital. My dentist said 5000 dollars and they did it for $750. So I had a great vacation with the rest of the money. Took a rebreather class, and played golf. I didn't really save any money because on spent it on vacation. Got a room for 12 dollars a night. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

    Chris, I would consider diet!
Everyone's blood pressure goes up when they visit the dentist....or in some type of stressful situation (including at work where it can go unrecognized and is very dangerous). Some people's blood pressure goes up much more than others when seeing the doctor and dentist....and that would be White-Coat Syndrome. Mine can get as high as systolic 200 when I see the doctor or dentist....I do not feel stressed but that is just how it is with me. Shrug!
That being said....if you take your blood pressure when you see the doctor and dentist and it is high then you should just go ahead and get yourself one of those automatic blood pressure devices and take your blood pressure at home.....correctly (there are many good videos and online articles on how to do it the right way). This should be done over several days...weeks to get rid of the anxiety factor even in your own home (the mere thought of taking your blood pressure and that it may be high can raise it artificially). If it remains high (normal is below systolic 120....but many doctors are not likely to start treatment unless you are above systoic130....even 140) then you should really be evaluated by an expert!
Just remember, high blood pressure is not called the "silent killer" for nothing.....it kills and mains (strokes and heart attacks, etc).
TRIVIA: 47% of adult Americans have high blood pressure but only 24% have it under control. A large number of these do not even know that they have high blood pressure.....aka walking time bombs!
You can largely thank the American processed food industry for this....but workplace stress and sedentary lifestyles also play lesser roles.

My Periodontal appointment to have 2 implants is 5/17/2022 for #3 and #30 teeth, so here's my cost breakdown. 2 Implants $4668 ($2334 x 2). That's the same price it was almost 20 years ago. Sinus bump for #3 $517. After 3 months of healing return for 2nd surgery to uncover implants $293. 2 Porcelain Crowns $3686 ($1843 x 2), includes the crown post, and that's with a 5% discount if I pay cash or check. I've been paying for Periodontal insurance on top of my regular dental insurance for many years, about 50% of the surgical costs (sinus bump) and exams will paid by the insurance, but I do know that 0% of the cost will be paid on implants. I have to pay all out of pocket for the implants. The prices in Bangkok Dental are really good.

Cleaning cost $196. All figures are Canadian Dollars so take off an extra 25% for Americans.
I know similar treatment in the USA Bay Area is more then 3 times the cost. Important thing is that your dentist does not do unnecessary procedures no matter what you go, Canada, USA or Thailand, most dentist do tons of useless, money making procedures to make extra money, do your own research and due diligence.

I've had several crowns done at Thantakit Dental Clinic's modern multi-story facility. Crown in US (Hawaii) was quoted at $1200, $857 with health insurance. In 2019 my crown at Thantakit came to $569. My dental insurance covered $332.16 for out of network treatment. I should add Thantakit also gives a 2-year warranty of their work and offers complimentary van pickup for clients.

Your local dentist thanks you for your sugar consumption in sweets and other meals that is omnipresent and unrestrained in the kingdom of smiles. Drink milk, not Leo ( beer is high in acidity and promotes cavities ) please also check the receding gum line between your two front teeth
