Recently, pupils from across Stirling Primary Schools came together to participate in Active Stirling’s Track and Field Championships Event on Wednesday 12 June 2024.
The young athletes put on a fantastic display of skills, excelling in various running, jumping, and throwing events. The competition included everything from short and long-distance races to high jump, long jump, triple jump, and a variety of throwing challenges.
The event was held at Stirling University, attracting over 250 pupils from twenty-two primary schools, including Newton, Strathblane, Queen Victoria, Bridge of Allan, Kippen, Doune, Dunblane, Cornton, Fallin, Thornhill, Deanston, Callander, Fintry/Buchlyvie, Bannockburn, Cambusbarron, Allans, Braehead, Riverside, St Mary’s Episcopal, Strathyre, St Margaret’s, and St Mary’s Bannockburn.
Pupils from St Margaret’s and St Mary’s Bannockburn also joined in the SportAbility Track and Field activities, adding to the inclusive spirit of the event.
Active Schools programme funded by sportscotland, aims to give every school child in Stirling the opportunity to be active through extra-curricular activity and to create pathways to activities in their local community. Our programme also supports people to lead activities for children including parent or community volunteers, young people as sports leaders and school staff.
