Who else thought this was going to be "jump in, jump out, turn yourself about, jump in, jump out, introduce yourself" when you first saw the title? Even though it isn't, I love this game! What a cool idea! I'd love to try it with students or at large group gatherings!
It's so funny that we often have odd associations to an activity simply based on its name. To this end, I rarely introduce a game by saying :"Ok, we are now going to play XYZ...." because it often telegraphs what they are about to do, and I'd prefer to preserve the adventure. Plus, no one cares what the game is called. All they care about it that it will be fun.
Agreed. And a great exercise to sharpen people's listening, and to progress into a conversation about leadership (eg have you ever been a part of a group where the leader said one thing, but did another?)
This is so good to hear, but not unusual. There is no magic in any activity - including JIJO - so the key must be in their delivery and this is what I think draws most people into this exercise. Well done!
I just wanted to Thank you!!! This is an awesome activity! I utilized this game today with 35 new hires as a breaking ice activity and they loved it!!! All of us in my management team and the new employes had so much fun and laughs, this was such a beautiful action that made a great impression on my team on their first day of employment.

Hi Kevin. I know what you mean, by "messing with my head" But, honestly, the activity is very simple to present, while the fun is mostly in the fact that the exercise of doing something different to what you say is hilarious. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for commenting - please, share your ideas with our community. If you happen to have a LOT, then I suggest you reach out to me and let's talk. Maybe there's a way we could collaborate on a project together?

I'/m wondering if this can be a lead in activity for parents or teachers working with children with processing difficulties. I could see this activity as building compassion on what some students deal with everyday.
The best way to learn the skills to conduct these types of experiences is to attend a training program with playmeo. Or, subscribe to our database. Go to www.playmeo.com/signup
This looks like a lot of fun. How do you think this activity would go if they didn't hold hands? It's really hard to get my students to hold hands for any length of time (even if I have sanitizer handy for them afterward). Is the holding hands for balance/spacing or just connection?
Holding hands is useful, but no critical. If holding hands is an issue for whatever reason, the game plays just as well if you ask people to hold short pieces of rope between participants.
I had to do 2 Adventure Based Learning activities for an assessment in Sport and Recreation cert III, teaching the year 7's. Chose this activity and found it's actually a really enjoyable activity that all of them will engage in. Thanks for sharing, gave me a better idea on ways to make it interesting :)
Excellent. It is by far the most popular activity on playmeo.com. If you have more placements to undertake, then check it out.. tons more where this one came from...
Thanks for commenting. I think the most useful connections (other than physically holding hands, which for some groups, could be a challenge) is that we all make mistakes, and in this game, these are celebrated with a laugh. At a deeper level, the exercise can highlight what happens when a leader (or a student, employee, etc, for that matter) says one thing but does another. The skill of a gifted facilitator can help connect these types of learnings to the group's real world. A lot more about these topics can be found at www.playmeo.com/activities/energizer-warm-up-games/jump-in-jump-out/

@@playmeo-group-games I remember seeing one where there were 'body taps' like: tap left knee with right hand, right knee with left hand. Left foot with right hand in front of body... unilateral touch points???
@@chrismartin8731 oh wow, that is all new to me, but I get the idea. Certainly, an activity with those movements has not been created by playmeo, but it's bound to be one of our members who has adapted the exercise & uploaded it to YT. Good luck
Absolutely, but not too small. 8-10 people would be fine, much less and it gets difficult to move. Have fun. There are a lot more fun group games & activities to be found here > www.playmeo.com/activities/
