DJI cameras use to only beat a GoPro in low light conditions, that was years ago. Currently DJ cameras beat GoPro's in absolutely everything. And they have descent software support unlike the bug riddle GoPro software stack.
Nice looking mount, looks almost as if it camer with the drone. And the Avata had no trouble flying with the Hero 12 on top. This seems like a great product, thanks for sharing..
Pro-tip: t-5 Torx is the same size tool you need to remove the GoPro fingers (labia) which saves me about 7 grams (twice that many if you dare to Mini 11)👌
The fact that it would cut down on your flight time , make it awkward, and spend more money , for instance if you have a FlyAway or it lands in the water, and I think DJI did a good job with camera as it is
I have both the Bad Idea camera mount and the dual light mount for the Avata 2. Fit & finish for both is quite good in spite of the fact they're tricky models for the 3D printer, especially the camera mount. Nice work. I bought this not for a GoPro as the Avata camera is just fine for my needs. However, I'm using it with a 360º camera in conditions where I can't use the Air 3 and having good luck with that.

Avata 2 video quality looks better. Added benefits of it being part of the factory payload, tiltable during flight through traditional controller, motion controller and head tracking, as well as not having to spend extra for another action cam. Feels like a no brainier for me at least
Hi Ken, I have the following question: Assuming I am flying indoors the speed is quite slow: (for indoor videos) a) Will the drone fly 100% flat/horizontally? b) Thus, does the GoPro also need to be positioned at 90°? Is that correct? So, in this case, if the camera is placed in the middle of the drone and I use the wide-angle lens, my specific question is: won't the front part of the drone appear in the shot? Personally from what I can tell, the GoPro footage is basically the same and no better than what is coming from the Avata 2. I like the addition to the prop guards, but not the GoPro mount

I’ve been getting away with Avata 1 cam for most of my projects (even for ad agencies), so I’m very happy to hear A2 cam is so improved. But I will be picking up the Bad Idea for those projects where needed. And the new red ribbed riders for sure. Noice!

Hay how about make a video to target. Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You UA-camrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. This seems so logical why hasn't DJI done this? It's all O4 so it should just be a software update.
Man, DJI may have 'improved' the sensor and all that on the new Avata 2 or whatever, but just look at those shadows by the trees in daylight. 💀 I feel like dynamic range wise is the Achilles' heel of DJI cameras for FPV and action cameras. Good GoPro mount design tho

I think the Avata 2 camera is better than the Go Pro's. Especially the dynamic range. But maybe its worth trying the Insta360 Ace pro on it. I mounted the new Insta360 X4 on the Mavic 3 pro with an anti vibration mount. Amazing footage that i can reframe. Love it so far.
Think it flew great with the 12 on it. 11 mini, probably fly just a bit better with the little weight loss. Great opinion for getting some audio from your Avata 2 flights also.
Ken, big thanks for making these rubber ducts, as soon as I installed them I had my first crash and those ducts worked perfectly, I love my RED ducts. I suggest anyone with an AVATA (1 or 2) should pick up Ken's RED ducts they can make a big difference.
Murse looks a lot like the Mini 3 Pro murse. Was really impressed with the full metal and high end fabric, truly, in that thing 👍🏼 worth it. Too bad doesn't come in lace to go with the ribbed.....

bigger sensor wins here. This time it seems the "bad idea" might actually be a bad idea. With that being said it totally sucks flying through the same cam your filming with. This locks you into flying with setting that aren't ideal for situational awareness, it was a major deciding factor of selling the OG DJI FPV drone for me. Having 24fps (which we know will likely come with a fw update) is huge though. All this aside I think it's safe to say DJI has finally made FPV drone that has bridged the gap from a traditional DIY drone from a commercially mass produced drone. As an experienced builder/pilot like yourself I can confirm that with the controller 3 and manual flight this flies as good as any cinewhoop I've owned or flown. Props to you for staying on top of this and releasing relative prints for both beginner and experienced pilot to benefit from.
@@OriginaldoBo please do a comparison between going the avata 2 route vs the standard cinewhoop with a decased gopro route. Seriously considering selling my real estate setup for the avata 2, currently running 2x 2.5 cinewhoops with 2x decased gp10s, dji goggles v2, radiomaster zorro

what camera did you prefer? Avata 2 or Gopro hero 12. Personally I think the Avata is still really solid on its own
Avata will carry my 1 inch 360 but it blocks all the GPS signals.

With Go Pro you can shoot vertical videos for Instagram in good quality, but not with the DJI camera

Go pro is good for people wanting more options for video rates and such that the avata 2 doesn’t offer. Such as 24fps etc.
It’s about frame rate options and some productions ask for gopro hence the option. I rather have than not need

If we filming in low light space or event, by using Avata 2 camera as our eyes, do we need to equip GoPro for filming instead?
The side-by-side footage comparison was really helpful to see how the extra camera holds up during flight.

No, it’s not gonna break away. The front piece is pretty tight so even if there wasn’t screws there, I have no doubt it’s not gonna go anywhere.
