    Greetings Wizards! Your boy is back and with one of his longest vids to date! 🧙‍♂
    *FAQs*
    Q: Can't you scale the mountainside to reach Volsung without having to enter Volskygge?
    🧙‍♂ Indeed you can! I forgot to mention this and is a much easier and faster way of obtaining the Volsung mask.
    Q: Doesn’t the Greater Power, “Highborn”, allow Altmers to increase their rate of magicka regeneration by 25x for 60 seconds once per day, not 25%?
    🧙‍♂️ Quite right! Apologies for the error - have been playing a Nord for far too long 😅
    Q: Can't the Dragon Priest Masks be worn with a Falmer Helmet for increased armor and additional enchantments?
    🧙‍♂ Indeed they can! Dragon Priest Masks with a low base armor rating like Morokei will benefit the most, but all masks will benefit from additional enchantments. You could have a total of 5 enchantments on your head alone! The Falmer helmet can also be equipped and worn at the same time as any circlet, Penitus Oculatus helmet, and the Masque of Clavicus Vile.
    Q: Isn’t Volsung tempered with a Corundum Ingot?
    🧙‍♂️ Oops! Yes, that’s quite right! It’s not tempered by Ebony Ingots but by Corundum Ingots.
    Q: What mod list are you using?
    🧙‍♂️ That would be Septimus - Anniversary Edition Extended from Wabbajack.

      @AspenBrightsoul Рік тому +363

      To be fair they are thousands of years old. King Author was said to hold the greatest weapon known to man but you throw a nuke his way and suddenly that sword doesn't look so impressive.

    • @christophertaylor9100
      @christophertaylor9100 Рік тому +277

      @@AspenBrightsoul Yeah but Skyrim hasn't advanced like that, its been pretty static in terms of technology and magical power for thousands of years. I mean the Dwarves were coming up with steam power and automatons but they blew themselves up real good and that whole thing ended

    • @AspenBrightsoul
      @AspenBrightsoul Рік тому +114

      @Christopher Taylor Actually magical "technology" is increasingly common amongst the more common folk, maybe not so much in Skyrim but we see in Morrowind that more and more reasurch has been put into improvements to the point they are novel. Like how every slaver has a load of shakles with a magic draning effect, and hell in Oblivion the main marketplace has a store that will teach you a magic spell for cheaper than a decent sword. The rest of the world is steadily advancing, I mean maybe less so now that the mages guild disolved, but still. Skyrim is a bit of a magic backwash.

    Here's a tip that Makes Volsung even better: Go to Volsyygg, Go to the left of the dungeon entrance (outside), go up the side of the hill. You can walk right up the side of the hill directly to the Word Wall and Dragon Priest, skipping the entire dungeon. And I've noticed that if you start hitting him with a melee weapon as soon as he exits his coffin and then keep wailing on him, he just _doesn't_ attack you.

      Maybe it didn't go back in time back then. It's not named so it could have been unfinished. Alduin crashing in the current era from the past made a sort of bridge. The unfinished mask absorbs the energy of the bridge and takes you back to the day he left. There is no owner of the wooden mask, it was always meant for the dragonborn.

      @samakiraroyjanssen6326 11 місяців тому +2

      Also that shock was lowest.
      Dragons are either 50 to frost or flame. Nothing resists lightning (aside from named dragons, who resist all equally), only 4 enemies, two of which are 1-location only, are immune.
      And removing magicka from dragons stops breath attacks or shouts.
      It’s also the easiest to hit due to being hitscan.
      Sure, few things use it, but aside from enchantments, you got nothing to reduce it. No race gains resistence, unlike frost or flame.

    • @jennyrichardson7474
      @jennyrichardson7474 11 місяців тому

      It's a stupid list. Stuff like +20% bow damage on a mask with barely useful skills you could enchant better on other gear? (Like who the Hell goes adventuring with their potion making gear?). Compared to elemental damage resist/buffs? Sure most 'builds' can dabble in potion making but you don't need a dragon mask for that. @@samakiraroyjanssen6326

    A thought on Hevnoraak.
    I've not gotten it yet to test it on my current playthrough, but potentially, immunity (85% resistance) to disease DAMAGE might actually make it a much more interesting pick if playing with mods. Assuming it actually resists it, which it may not.
    Disease damage in general is a very, very difficult resistance to get normally, as well as tons of stuff just not getting it, since it's, to my knowledge, just not available in base Skyrim.
    It's still probably not a fantastic mask in that context, but might be a great thing to just carry, in case.
    On a side note, one of my most fun times in Skyrim has been just becoming a mask collector. Lots of mods add masks, and just accumulating them, putting them on display, ect is surprisingly enjoyable experience. Lots are just recolors of the wooden mask, sadly, but there's impressive variety out there, too.

    volsung > ahzidal/dukaan/vahlo > krosis > morokei > nahkriin/vokun > rahgot/miraak > otar > konahrik > hevnoraak
    volsung is far and away the most useful imo. its a lightweight waterbreathing enchantment that also gives you better prices and carry weight, so any character can make use of it. whether its throwing it on to sell things, to swim, or to grab a few extra pieces of loot. water breathing doesnt really have much use in skyrim tho, sadly, especially without underwater combat.
    the dlc mage mask are all really good and help spells lack of scaling for their specific elements.
    krosis is just a good general ranger type mask, or for potion crafting. making lockpicking easier it just a bonus.
    morokei is just a good general mage type mask, unlike the rest of the mage mask, which require you to be more specialized.
    nahkriin and vokin are both good for their respective schools.
    the remaining mask are generally only good if you ignore enchanting imo.
    rahgot if you use stam/enjoy power attacks, miraak if you use mana.
    otar can be really good early on, specifically if you have a racial resist, but otherwise enchanting can easily replace this once its maxed out.
    konahrik is very underwhelming for me, bc if im low enough to proc it, im probably dead, or its just faster to use a heal spell/potion. it does however work really well with restorations avoid death perk, and it does look really cool. im just not a fan of low hp RNG procs myself, when i could use another helm and have its effect 24/7 while also staying healthy.
    hevnoraak, last and certainly least. vampire OR werewolf form both grant you 100% disease immunity, with werewolf only taking away the rested bonus. the only value this mask has is if you dont plan to do either, then its actually pretty good. i almost always just become a werewolf for the disease immunity, even if i never use the werewolf form myself, so i view this mask as completely useless.
    this was a neato vid tho, thank you.

    "can be upgraded with the daedric smithing perk" started to get meme able near the end, i would suggest say all can be upgraded with the perk with exceptions (then name them as they come up).

    I was angry about the whole Dragon Priest shrine, because I worked my butt off painstakingly locating and clearing the dungeons and nearly dying several times to get ahold of all eight masks (on Skyrim) then I had to walk all the way back to Labyrinthian, and once I placed all the dragon priest masks on their respective busts, Bethesda has the audacity to not even give me an achievement for it!

    Water breathing is also an excellent skill for escaping guards if you happen to get caught being naughty... so i hear. Obviously I wouldn't have any firsthand experience with such things, or outstanding bounties. I'm obviously just a law abiding citizen that enjoys long underwater swims upriver.

    And if you like Dragon Priest Masks? There's mod for Dragon Priest Armory, with each Priest coming with their custom armor too! Heck, if you want you can just go find a Clay Mask and enter another time, and craft your own armor too. Including a Hearthstone Armor, that has Enchantment Boost, and real epic black and red shade...
    Konahrik's Accountrements.

    I expected the poison resist helmet to be closer to the top slot due to how difficult it is to get poison resistance outside racials and poison resistance potions, and how hard poisons scale at the higher levels. immunity to magic and melee are self explanatory, but dealing with poisons is rough up until you get Hevvy.

    Otar is actually really good, due to the fact that elemental resistance is applied seperately from magic resistance. So, with 85% magic resist, you can reduce incoming magic damage by 85%, 30% elemental resistance will reduce your damage taken by 30% of that damage. Coupled with the fact that helmets don't have any real useful custom enchantment slots for pure warriors, Otar is probably among the best pieces to use as one.

    • @theWelshWizard
      @theWelshWizard  Рік тому

      Yeah, elemental resistance combined with magic resistance can grant you a max resistance of 97.75% in one element. But a much easier way of achieving full resistance to magic (as well as to a whole lot more) is through absorb magicka. 100% absorb magicka means no damage to you and a well supplied magicka bar when versing spell casters and dragons 🔥

      @@theWelshWizard
      My tops would be otar or hevnoraak.
      From the perspective of a melee fighter.
      Breton (or alteration perk 3)+ agent of mara + lord stone + shield of ysgramor gives you 85% magic resist. The fishing ring and otar give you 50% so I believe that makes it 92.5%?
      I am going to assume the wiki is correct on damage and the ancient dragon has the highest spell damage with fireball/ice storm of 200 damage. That would be 600 damage on legendary. That would leave the damage at 45. It hurts, but I'd say a warrior should easily have 300+ hp by the time they fight ancient dragons means it shouldn't be but 15% of total hp.
      The physical attacks of ancient+ do something like 600-900dmg...which is still 45-68dmg so avoid that. Train archery.
      Assuming the wiki is accurate. Idk.
      Mages would do less magic damage than a dragon.
      I don't care much for absorb Magicka because having to wear a couple pieces of miraak set I feel is too limiting.
      hevnoraak is invaluable.
      Unless you find a poison immunity asap, it might be your only way to get that resist poison besides being a vampire.
      A basic falmer does 15 poison damage and a warmonger does 36 poison damage unresisted per second for 3-4sec.
      It stacks.
      The damage is insane on legendary. An arrow and sword strike would kill a character with base hp. God forbid you get hit with a third arrow. That would do upwards of 200dmg with the arrow/sword damage taken into account.
      I don't go anywhere near falmer without poison resist.

    I love vokun. The combination of bound bow plus invisibility and silent casting perk plus slowtime shout buffed by stability is a build many already did. This mask helps alot in that. It also helps you being a necromancer that can buff the zombies/summons with courage thanks to the perk that alows you to use ilusion perks on undead, and paralyze is always useful.
    The mask is just so useful
    The elemental mask are also very good, althought very niche. Best to worst are, for me, fire, shock and frost. Fire for the spell on ahzidal ring and shock form boosting the Kamehameha
