With all due respect, hes giving himself too much credit for "bringing the devil in". There comes a point where the label should be held responsible. They were caught lying about his upbringing, changed his image, and basically tried to make him appeal to the masses. They knew what they had in him, a person who had an idenity issue since birth: "Van Winkle has never known his biological father; he was given the family name of the man his mother was married to at the time of his birth.When Van Winkle was four, his mother divorced." You cant tell me that doesn't affect a person and a major company wouldn't exploit this.

I'm gonna give him some bail on that and say that art specifically said the money from ice ice baby funded deathrow. So maybe he was already getting paid for that single and a publishing deal had already been put in place. Then the album dropped and that's when they doubled back and got everything else he was owed that wasn't covered in the initial contract. I'm not saying you're right or wrong I'm just saying context matters.
