He moved from Jamaica with his parents as kid. First they moved to Brooklyn but he got older & started getting in trouble. He faced deportation so they sent him to family in Houston. He couldn't even get a legit job so he got jobs in clubs clearing tables. He got discovered cause he would break dance & MC before the acts went on. But yeah he did snitch on the dude but still couldn't avoid the threat of deportation.

We have our family Reunion coming up again in July. In Louisiana where I'm still here and from, the elders speak about how after slavery and many years later for different reasons folks moved up north, east, west, midwest etc. ESPECIALLY when yellow fever hit many families moved from Louisiana to Texas, Texas to California. Through degrees of separation a lot of people are related and don't even know it!! Like we found out we close kin to RuPaul. They were part of the family that moved to California early on. As for Spice speaking on last name changes, that's something especially in the south here happened a lot. Long ago a lot of light skin families passed for white! So they removed themselves from their dark skin relatives. They were privilege by white folks by either getting good jobs or starting businesses. At a time when racism was highly prevalent! It's sad but very true. What's even more sad is after all these years those same people remain distant and refuse to attend family reunion. We have some in our family that put the pass to the side and are attending now. This is extremely important for the kids. Family reunions are unheard of today. Quite scary to found out you married your close cousin. That's why we brought ours back. I believe every family should!!
