We had a great time out there at whites auto salvage Marcella is right it’s amazing!!!great folks to deal with it was started in 1947 and is 4 generations strong and they are very passionate about the business and I look forward to going back for my next parts thanks again to whites in germanton North Carolina
Thanks for posting. Sad to see that flat window 1st gen g10 chevy van (64-66) at the beginning of the video and saw a few 2nd Gen vans also but for people close by there can try to buy the vans or parts . I'll try and post a link in the vintage Van and vintage chevy van sites . Cars like the 66 convert should be saved but that yard is super awesome. We have small big company owned yards everywhere in Cali and they are trying to close some of them up.
Guys I don’t mean to be forward but I’m one of the Jug heads that knows pretty much any vehicle I’m looking at. Get online and start studying those vehicles. Just type stuff in and go. People are relying on your ability as automotive journalist to call out the right names on the vehicles especially the old stuff. I’ll check back in a few weeks to see how you’re doing.
Thanks Russell for the honesty. I would not consider us journalists by any stretch....just a couple of interested country boys and explorers. Learning daily.
New sub gents! I been living in NC all my life and never heard of this place! Grew up in Hickory messing with cars then left to join the Marine Corps and been in Eastern NC ever since 1983. Going to Whites this weekend to try and get me a hood for my 72 Grand Prix. Called him and he said he's got 4 or 5. Thanks fellers!!!
There aren’t any scrap yards or junkyards like that in my area but I certainly wish there were. Sadly, they’re all gone in Northeast Ohio. As far as I know. I noticed that there was a 1950 De Soto in that video you don’t see many of those anymore
@@ronlee1949 you don't have to travel that far because you can go down to Southeast Ohio and it's pretty good-sized junkyard. A lot of old stuff from the fifties and sixties in there as well. Just letting you know Miss rights on the border there was what is it West Virginia.
I'm not being critical but the winged chevy at 6:40 is a 1960 you are correct about the taillights. 1959 had cats eye taillights. Class dismissed! Thanks for the tour. I'm thinking road trip
I'm not busting your chops maybe just help you out a little bit. First of all that champion charger with a 71 ish Challenger! I know they ain't much left of it but there's a tub and that's what you need when you want to build one. So thanks for showing it. Yeah the thing is I give you 2 cheats. Look at the tail light lenses. Like 59 Chevy is a big old teardrop lens. Like many cars is one year only. Don't have the dates on the tail light lenses. On those older cars quite often one year only maybe 2 years. The 60 resembles a 59 a little bit. But 261 has the same taillights as a 60 and they kind of resembles body-wise is 62. So look at the taillights of course you can look at their vin tag of one of the tags up on me fender of a Mopar or maybe on the firewall. Here's one that my kid came up with. Take a picture with your phone and choose the Google lens option and quite often it'll give you the year and make of the car. I saw the other guys video to and there's somebody else that did a video out there. But they're all enjoyable
@@carolinahillcountry we have smartphones as well as Android. I know that it's on the Android. Let's give credit where credit's due. My son showed me this trick sometime back. Google lens and it comes with the phone normally it's some kind of app. That comes with the phone and it does not cost anything. That comes with the phone and it does not cost anything. It's as easy as taking a screenshot and you look at your choices and on my phone is for choices and it's a second from the last choice is Google's lens. Tap that with your finger and I'll send you see like Twilight zone happening to your phone to be little dots and it says Google searching. It's the same principle as taking a picture and moving it over to the Google search bar. It's a rectangular box with a circle in the center of it. That may look like an eye but overall the whole thing looks like a camera shape. Play around with it for a little bit
@@carolinahillcountry Lol yeah and they do it at the best time of the day. Yes they are adding more gas tax again. I am to the point I think its going in pockets and not to fix the freeways. It was high last summer at over 7 dollars a gallon. I am a CA native and have never seen it that high and for what reason.
@carolinahillcountry lol 😆 its nothing to drop 100 bucks on gas a week in Socal. People wonder why I want a cheaper car that gets better than 15 mpg on a good day. It's nice to have the go. I am to the point where is it worth a payment again and keep the Challenger or dump it.
Not '59 Chevy's, but 1960's ... The '59's had the "Cat Eyed" taillights.
Thanks
Great to see yards like this still exist
