The highbrow critics all love to pile on this work, calling it beneath the talent (and dignity) of any serious composer. This, to me, just highlights what most of us know about the vast majority of critics: That they're incapable of enjoying a work on its own without finding some kind of deeper aesthetic meaning or dimension, eager to place it in some sort of sociological, socio-economic, or socio-political context and feeling hostile toward it when they can't. I say to hell with them. Wiren's Serenade is a lovely piece, one that I come back and listen to quite often. It's also the kind of work where subtleties can really stand out. This is why I make a point to seek out different recordings and interpretations, and this is one of the best I've heard.
I have loved this work since I first heard it 65 years ago. It's a piece I play whenever I feel down. Who can listen to the joy in that last movement and feel depressed? Following it in the score shows me how beautifully it is arranged for the string orhcestra - and it also points my ear to coounterpoints I have often passed over. Thank you
that sounds like a cool idea and i might do that in the future if i work out how to do it. atm i am just uploading older videos i made mainly but i have some plans for the future perhaps. in the end i am just making these videos myself and i am not really going for anything high class with my uploads but we'll see
@@OrganisedSound In my opinion, by publishing this score-video, you're doing a service and making a contribution to the music community. Might as well make it good.
@@OrganisedSound Plus, doing the entire page when separate systems are already available makes for a half-assed effort. I've made this mistake in the past (see my Alkan video), and I'm not proud of it.
@@PentameronSV i don't really like you calling stuff i am doing just for fun or for myself as a 'half-assed effort' and i am not trying to do a service for anyone-i am not a servant :( if you want me to stop doing things the way i want to do them you can say so and unsubscribe.
@@OrganisedSound You're right. i apologise for my unconstructive and snarky reply. I've failed to mention that this type of layout makes the individual notes harder to see and read (isn't the purpose of making score-videos to help others visualise the music better as a ?). So the solution is to crop out each individual system if possible. Sure, there'll be more images to handle, but as a finished video they're easier to read. I once again apologise for my rude and disrespectful tone in my previous reply, and I hope this helped you!
All music is "organised sound" except maybe for aleatoric music (fancy word for random sounds) and I hear nothing random about this piece. No masterpiece, but nice still.

cant the sociological context be "a happy human" for once? they are denying us that. everything has to be profound. Is joy not profound???
Cheers me up for the day ahead. Thank you so much.

@hi_im_clooxi Clearly I am over 65!
My father used to put this on his record player to accompany pass the parcel at Christmas.
My god, how did you know I was searching for this??? Searched 13 July 2020!
i didn't know, sorry
@@OrganisedSound , thank you for putting this up!
@@OrganisedSound why are you apologizing lmao
Striking similarities between the Scherzo and the final movement of Suk’s Serenade for Strings. Very cool to see!
Such a brilliant work. Never get tired of listening to it.
Great music! Thanks
The marcia has such a fun melody to play
10:44 what fun :D
I love this piece. Thank you for posting it!

Nice piece - would have made a great theme tune for All Creatures Great and Small!

Suggestion: Do you mind using individual systems as separate slides instead of the entire page?
