This video spoke to me. I am a dairy farmer and at times I struggle with the fact it’s hard to make a living doing this job. I watch friends enjoy life and freedom. I get discouraged but the cows have made a good life for me and my family, not an easy life but a good life.

My Dad, who passed away this year, was a cabbie in Denver for 40+ years. When I was born, I was brought home in an old style checkered taxi cab. My Dad was a living GPS. If you gave him any address or landmark, he could immediately tell you exactly how to get there and how long it would take within a minute or two accuracy. He liked the independence, making his own hours and always being available for his family when needed. It takes a certain kind of person to be a good cabbie, and my Dad was the best of the best. Now looking back, when yellow cabs got phased out by lyft and uber a few years ago, he was forced to make the switch - and it was the beginning of the end. He lost some of his spark, driving a yellow cab was his passion. Along with the changing political landscape and the degradation of society, he was sick of it here on earth. I sure do miss him.

So sorry that happened to your Dad, but you are his legacy. Make him proud. I lost my Dad in 02, and he always wanted his own business. And while our family owned 2 rental properties. I'm not sure he achieved all his goals, but he did well. My wife and I have started our own business, look for my earlier comment, and I hope he will be proud when we meet again, as well as my mom. She lived long enough for me to tell her about our venture and I believe she was very proud of us. At 92 she had nearly lost her ability to communicate, but I'm still sure she understood.

I had a software reset when my son was born. He was born with multiple physical and mental challenges. I had to reset what I thought happy, success, pain, toughness and many other truths I thought I knew were. My son is all of these in his own way and they are his truths. For me the most terrifying thing was not being able to "save" my son from his challenges. I’m sitting here at my underpaid IT job wasting my life for little pay falling behind, no motivation, and this really struck me. Where a mans mind is tied to where the heart is. My heart and the things I tend to enjoy doing tend to be, driving oddly enough. I think my heart might be on the road to an extent, and the idea of possibly trucking has come to mind. I’m thinking about getting my CDL without going through a company and starting my own thing, get to point B with the load, pop an audio book in, and enjoy the drive, not to mention the potential income involved for getting myself a home and a foothold in life.
Now I could be completely wrong but I feel inspired to find that thing that will set me free. I’m not bound to too many things right now, and I think it’s the time I should use to find my passion. Thank you for this video, it’s something that is getting me excited about a future.

When i did work on a commercial fishing boat it was a boat that spent most of the year dragging for shrimp with a beam trawl. Otter trawls were not allowed. The captain had been doing it for over forty five years. Back then without GPS one could only fish in the daylight, where one could see the landmarks. A beam trawl can hang up, get ripped apart, fill with mud, break in half if it hit s rock, etc. One has to use landmarks on the shore to know where to begin and where to stop. My captain knew them all. Tens of thousands. He didn't even need a depthfinder he knew the bottom better than the land above the water. He also knew all the rocks, points, trees that hung out from the others, saddle in the mountains, etc.
He told me story when he was ten and went halibut fishing with his dad in the Gulf of Alaska. They got slammed by a big storm and after the storm was over had no idea where they were. His dad put him in the pilothouse and told him after they drop a line and see what the depth is( back before depth finders. )Steer the boat on such and such coarse for so long. Then he dropped a line and took the depth. Then again until they had navigated a large triangle. Then his dad gave him a compass course and six hours later they saw lights on the shore. They held course and arrived right at Kodiak. His dad knew the bottom of the Gulf so well he could do a single triangulation and know the exact course to end up right at one particular port.
Many years ago scholars were trying to debunk a thousand years old map that turned out to be very accurate. Their opinion was that no one could know that much detail. Guess they never worked on a commercial ship. Otherwise they would have known that there are multitudes of fishermen who do know that kind of detail of their fishing grounds. The map maker probably knew to go to the men who know, like fishermen to get his data.

There are two distinct feelings that men grapple with and you nailed them both in this video. When i was younger and lost my job, i remember waking up the next morning and feeling worthless because i didnt have a job. That motivated me really put in the work to find a new job, and i did. The other is the overwhelming pressure of feeling like you have to provide for your family. My dad was a hard working man with 5 kids and a wife. Seeing how hard he worked instilled a work ethic onto us. It wasnt about what he wanted or thought he needed. His role was to provide for his family, by any means necessary...and he did. So when your livelihood is put in jeopardy over something you dont think you want, just remember, its not about you. You have an obligation to your family. Do what you must to see they are taken care of.

I missed the signs, I even worked with him that morning and everything seemed normal. Losing him has affected me and his mother deeply, the loss of him is worse than any pain or heartbreak I've ever known. Losing a job seems insignificant in comparison, and I know how it effects me to lose a job, I have been there. This has been far worse for me than losing my dad and grandmother in the same week at the same hospital.

We live and Oklahoma and it seems we have no one to band with. If there is anyone in our area no one’s talking.
About three weeks ago my husband became awakened to the fact of what our nation & world is about to encounter.
I’d been trying to prepare what I could & the way I could.
I am now trying to get it across to my husband that somehow we need to be banded with like minded for such a time as this. I know my husband feels like he’s alone (even though he has my full support, encouragement, prepping & prayers). It would be nice if he had other like-minded men, also.
I’ll spare you the telling of our teenage son’s mental break in 2020 & still yet in 2021. Our son is also early childhood poke damaged. So no more of those pointed things for our family.
We are also an homeschooling family.
Sorry got off on a rabbit trail.
Point is:... I wish my husband had other like-minded males to combat with.
We live in Southern Oklahoma, if you know of someone.
      Thank you!

I was not given a choice 14 years ago I was in a minor accident at work and about 6 years ago I finally had to retire/disables and unable to work due to my disability. Then last year I found out that I also have Parkinson's Disease which is making it even harder on me. Cause of that and a minor fall in my house I broke two ribs. Now I have to wait to have my gallbladder removed. I have to wait cause of covid. God is still providing for me with family and the Churches in my area, also the local senior center. Through this I did return to God and Jesus Christ and now I am learning to rely more and more on Jesus to not just provide but to trust in Him and depend on His strength as I don't have any myself.
God Bless you and your message.

It's great work, good pay even though it is an internship, but the word came down that on Oct 1st, the jab was a requirement. I spoke to my wife about this and for about a month and we came into agreement. Friday is my last day. Moments before(on my lunch break at a job I am deemed to be out of at the end of the month) I closed my eyes and lowered my head asking for sincere guidance from God, appealing to Him for wisdom in my coming decisions. I am steadfast in my faith and stance on this topic but would be a liar if I said my mind hasn't wandered into "wouldn't it be easier if...." scenario a few times as dates approach. Once I got enough nerve, broke free from the chains of a steady job, and made that first step, I never looked back. It was an incredible experience that I truly loved. Fear may be stopping many people now, but I assure you, there are so many ways to earn a living, orher than punching a time clock, and they're so much more rewarding than you can believe. When I was young I had a real tough time showing up to work. I dreaded every single day and my work ethic showed it. Someone told me that I should find a job that I like. So I did. I found myself working at the ski resort. I worked there for about 7 years and had no longer any problems showing up to work... but ever since I quit I literally despise the snow. I think if you take what you love and make it your job, it will suck the fun right out of it and I no longer have the same passion... although I contribute most of my dejected feelings toward my old management not the actual work, I still feel like if you make your passion your job it will eventually no longer be your passion...

my first alarm clock was my father; from the time I started school until I had to leave home he would fix breakfast for me, my brother and, later, my sister and then himself before he went to work at 7 am. Those are goodish memories but they are part of the training that the "Protestant Ethic" imposes on all of our lives. The cultural requirement to always be busy has contributed to loss of childhood, inability to enjoy moments of peace and some truly reprehensible behavior against those who are less fortunate through no fault of their own. Time and tide prevented me from being as free of these constraints as I would have liked but finally got there. Still have to feed the animals twice a day, did I really escape? END OF RANT. Have a blessed day.

As a young man in Chicago looking to supplement my income, I drove for Yellow Cab one summer back in 1970. In order to drive a taxi in Chicago a chauffeurs license was required, and in order to obtain one you needed to speak English, and demonstrate a basic knowledge of the city and various points of interest. It was not a difficult test like the one in London, but you still had to make the effort. Today, having never once been in Chicago, you can get off a plane from Norway or Nigeria, speak not a word of English, and be driving a cab or an Uber tomorrow. Progress? I think not.

I was hoping you would answer with what helped you get over that feeling of guilt. So, what helped. Also, I notice a lot of similarities between our lines of thinking. So, I have to ask, what would your advice be to someone whose aspirations parallel yours in a lot of ways, but that I struggle with depression and even feeling motivated to get myself there. Some days seem so meaningless it isn’t even funny, feels like a roller coaster. My first child is on the way and I want to get my family out of this place.

Then after college and working in the construction industry as superintendent for a commercial builder for most of my life I am now semi retired as a house flipper. I do feel like a loser if I am not "making hay" by 7 am even on the weekends.
