Of course this band are superb, why dident i see it before, and there huge record sale's and the extensive tours that they undertake across the globe are testament to this.. I imagine they all have made a packet from there stratospheric success.. Or are they in reality a small cult band who struggle to fill a small club let alone a resonably sized theartre. I know what side of the fence i sit on..

For me GBH represented style to me more than a band. Their music never really pleased me after I looked at them with their bleached spikes and silly full leather clothes with boots. Theyre like the glam rock of punk. Im more of a Germs, JFA, circle jerks, and black flag kind of guy
Nowdays things are alot different, and i am by no means ripping on american bands of the 80s i love alot of them but the scene in england,finalnd,sweden,japan,australia,germany etc etc etc stayed commited because it was more than just a type of music for them.
I mean look what it spawned. Now we have crust,d-beat,raw punk,etc etc (the list goes on) and from the states the music didnt take on anything else. The scene is very strong but its mainly based of the ideals and sounds of what started in england from bands like discharge or gbh etc.

people say punk is dead, really its not, but its barely alive, this generation has been fucked and is all close minded and the only way to get around is with looks and the way you dress, and money. if there were more opened and bright minded people, and maybe geniouses and more people with an original style. punk would be fully alive. but no one except for a select few really get it.

In north america punk (back then, its different now) was more of a trend, because there wasn't as much fucked up shit going on as it was americas economic hayday. There was also alot weaker of a commited scene and they didn't work towards anything thus thats why alot of american bands of the time had irrelevent lyrics and most of them are now just middle class office workers.
I have seen them more times than I can remember from 84-88. Greatest era of music....
