    I just wanted to say, I've just discovered your channel and have been binge watching. I've shared it with all my friends on Facebook and in some weight loss groups. You make things seem less stressful. And from one person with a unique voice to another...I think you're voice is awesome. To me, you should be doing voice overs for cartoons and kid shows. You make things fun.

      we love Mason jars around here! I find salad stays freshest in a mason jar, and honestly salad is one of those things that if I don't prep it, we don't eat it!
      I do prefer plastic if I am going to freeze something as I cleaned up one too many broken glass jars from my deep freeze and don't want to do it again!

    I buy plastic containers due to the price but I always re-use all the glass jars that my food shopping brings home with it (Pasta Sauce, Jelly, Olives) and these give a nice variety to my storage options. I generally soak them in hot water and soap as well as remove the labels!

    Love ALL of your videos! I'd love to see a meal prep focused on the elimination diet. Essentially no gluten, dairy, soy, corn, beans (except lentils, garbanzo, and chickpea), peanuts, yeast, alcohol, nightshades, sugar, eggs, coffee, chocolate, and caffeine. We begin the diet on Saturday and food prep is a MUST in order for success!

    How do you reheat cooked prepped food and it's still good? Many things that get reheated especially if already cooked for a couple of days tend to not taste the same or have good moisture or texture.

    I'm glad you made this video. I've been wanting to prep my meals throughout the week. As much as I love to cook I can get rather lazy in the afternoon and then dinner becomes a sandwich and whatever I can find to snack on in the fridge. I've tried to follow along with you in January but a viral infection decided that I needed to skip that entire month. Will you be using the hashtag #RedefineHealth all year?

    i know you said you only prep certain foods but not the whole meal, can you talk more about that? like if you wanted pasta or pizza, what would you prep? and maybe a video on shelf life, what to freeze, how to avoid freezer burn, small tips like that. thanks for the great content! :)

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      I don't really make pasta or pizza that regularly but I guess if I were going to prep items for them I would make sure veggies are chopped, sauce was made, cheese was grated, pasta can even be made plain and then flavored later on! Cheers

    Hi Alyssia, thanks so much for your recipes. I have learnt already a lot about meal prep thanks to your videos and also I bought your e-book. One thing I am still wondering is how do you best reheat your meal? my chicken gets always very dry after one day.. everybody talks about how to meal prep and recipe ideas good but how do you best reheat it? Hope you can help me

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +Kimbo I just reheat mine in the microwave- if the chicken isn't dry to begin with then usually it's okay when I reheat, so try to make sure it's very moist when you initially cook it :)

    How about healthy casseroles and one-pot-meal preps? I like making meals that are sort of all-in-one, like contain veggies, protein, grains, etc., but also very healthy, nutritious and yummy! I've made a healthy chicken pot pie with a quinoa crust, a chicken, veggie pasta stir-fry, a turkey-veggie chili, healthy Greek moussaka, etc.

    I didn't realize that was a reason to put raw meat at the bottom. I grew up doing it just in case juice leak or something (easier to clean too if happened).

    any idea on how to keep herbs fresh as long as possible? I always buy cilantro/parsley but they turn bad so fast! Would love your input on this :)

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +1024specialkay Thank you! For tender herbs like cilantro and parsley I usually snip off the ends of the stems and remove any discolored leaves, and then store them in a jar with an inch or so of water in the bottom. I store the jars with plastic wrapped over the top in the fridge!

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +Annette Opalka hmmm, how long are you cooking them? Mine usually last around 4 days. Maybe they are being too cooked beforehand or maybe you should consider a shallower dish so they aren't sitting on top of each other so much and weighing the other cubes down :)

    once stored say for example frozen, how would you then prepare and reheat them? would you just take out of the freezer and pop it in the microwave to defrost then on full nuke or what? I'm going to try meal prepping next week so would love to know thank you xx

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 років тому +1

      With most frozen items, I transfer them from the freezer to the fridge about 24 hours before I want to reheat them, so that they can thaw out a bit :) So cool you're going to try meal prepping!!

      it is not a great idea to put it from the freezer in the fridge overnight, it is best to take it out in the morning and leeve it out of the fridge, then the best temp and bakteria is less than if you put it from freezer to fridge💋

    I once tried to store ham and cheese egg cups that I had baked. The next day or two when I opened up the tupperware they had gone bad. Was this because I stored them when they were hot or should I not try and prep eggs and hard-boiled eggs at all?

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +Larissa M I'm not sure what the recipe was, what are egg cups? Cooked eggs usually store well in the fridge and can even be frozen. I wouldn't freeze boiled eggs, but they should last a week or so in the fridge. Maybe the eggs were bad? I usually do let my eggs cool before storing them.

    • @larissam6279
      @larissam6279 8 років тому

      Mind Over Munch I put scrambled egg with bits of ham and shredded cheese, put them in a muffin tin and put it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes. Maybe they were bad I have no idea. Think I'll try storing boiled eggs and let them cool a little. Thanks!

    About storing eggs in the door. I can remember reading that you shouldn't store eggs in the door because the changes in temperature when the door is opened. Unfortunately, I can't give you the source as all I remember is the advice. It stuck in my mind because refrigerators used to come with egg holders in the door.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +Catherine McFarland You should do what you're more comfortable with. Generally, eggs are okay to be at room temperature for a while before having to worry about bacteria, which is why the door is usually fine :)

    Yes that is an old wives tale!! You're not supposed to let food cool to room temp, then refrigerate or freeze. That is when bacteria grow and multiply!!
    You must cool food down asap to at least 40°F!!
    Anybody who has worked in food service (at least in Ca) knows this.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому +1

    Great tips!! I also wash and cut celery and carrots and keep them in an open bowl in my fridge soaked in filtered water. This makes them last at least an extra week and they're ready for eating individually, w/ hummus or celery ready for peanut butter. I agree with you! Without the food prep unhealthier food items in your home are ALWAYS usually a go to! For me it is ESSENTIAL to stay on track!! ;)

    Q: how to reheat meal prep food. I will heat it up once before work outta the freezer and reheat it again before lunch. However dont feel like the food stays fresh this way. HELPPPP

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  8 років тому

      +the bedsloth I usually don't freeze each meal, I try to prep 4-5 days of what I can keep fresh and only freeze it if I know I won't get to it because reheating can be messy. Sometimes I'll freeze individual portions of protein so I can just take them out of the freezer the night before and let it thaw a bit in the fridge, and then just reheat that the next day :)

    • @GreenHoodieBoy
      @GreenHoodieBoy 8 років тому

      ahh ok the thawing part i get. but which means essentially ull still need to reheat twice? once outta the fridge and again jus before u eat?
