    The negative comments are strange. She is doing great things and provided a ton of great tips to takeaway. I found it very helpful and I am a health coach. Everyone is different. It works for her and it works very well. She is doing great things. All critical people are just weird. Keep up the good work Jenifer. Good video as usual.

    I watched this video because I want to know how YOU eat. It's a little disturbing to see so many comments saying do it this way, do it that way. What is written in stone for nutrition changes constantly and the only thing I know for sure is that science doesn't really explain nutrition very well. First it was low fat, eat small meals constantly, then high fat low carb and fasting. I really appreciate you honestly telling us how you eat because maybe we should stop following the science that doesn't seem to have a clue and start listening to the people who have actually eaten a certain way and it has worked. I really appreciate this video and hope you keep doing what you are doing because it works.

      Thank you so much for leaving your comment! 😊 I was really hesitant about making both of my videos on "how" and "what" I eat for fear of criticism, but I'm surprised to see how many people appreciate it. Of course it would've sounded better to say that I grew everything in a garden in my backyard and prepared everything from scratch, but that would've been a complete fabrication and to me, and for most of us, it just isn't realistic. Hope you're having a fantastic weekend! ❤️

      latridic i agree! I remember even before the low fat which I lost weight on, and was healthy it was the low carb so this so called Keri diet and Atkins is really not new like everyone thinks.
      It was around before in the 60's and 70's. And the 80' for half the decade and it was 90's and such when I stoped being fat because it was less restrictive to cook low fat. I ate lots of food that way.
      Now I am 48 and confused because I can't lose at all no matter which lifestyle I choose. I need to stop eating at night but I feel almost a compulsion to go eat! And in the middle of my sleep at night! Ugh I need help

    Jenifer, this was a very good video - realistic, obtainable, and user friendly for those of use who live in the real world, have incredibly busy lives filled with children and family. For all those complaining about processed foods, where are their videos? I want to see what they look like. Everyone's a critic. TFS!!

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  7 років тому +18

      Lol! I don't think I could ever cut out processed foods all together, they're too convenient. 😉 But that's why I try to balance it all out with a lot of fruits and vegetables, etc. I knew there would be people that would have problems with it, but I would have been lying had I said otherwise. That's why I titled it "A Realistic Approach." Because the majority of the world do include processed foods in their diets. It's all about balancing as far as I'm concerned. 😊

    This is too funny.. I'm literally sitting here eating Pasture raised chicken dipped in grass fed butter!! I do the ketogenic diet "lifestyle" though.. and I intermittent fast as well with the 16/8 method. I used to be a bikini competitor and the diet was SO low fat/ low carb I felt starved all the time. Now that I'm 37 it's about just being healthy and I find that keto is such an easy way for me to stay sustained plus it's reduced skin issues since its an anti-inflammatory diet. I appreciate your videos and since watching your channel I've really stepped up my skin care routine and I owe it to your lengthy step-by-step videos. :) Cheers Bella!!

      Hi Jeanette 😊I recently researched that diet and I was actually super impressed with everyting I read!! However, I am not someone who can cut out carbs (or restrict them to that extreme), and unfortunately our body doesn't reach that ketogenic stage unless we do that. But what I'm more impressed about is that you can do that, in addition to the intermittent fasting 16/8!! That's pretty awesome! I totally admire women like you!! I've also heard that calorie and fat restriction is difficult if you are eating 3 meals a day. Because I skip breakfast, I am NEVER hungry. As a matter of fact I weighed mysef today and was upset to see that I was 108lbs. That does NOT look good or healthy on me, so I am going to enjoy tonight's cheat night. 😊

    • @jleight9544
      @jleight9544 7 років тому +1

      Well you hit the nail on the head early in your video when you explained that your lifestyle is about being healthy on the inside as well as the outside. I remember my coach used to say after a teammate cheated "what are your organs feeling right now? What would your organs tell you if they could talk?" I always thought in spite of how cheesy that sounded, it's so true! I just want to also ad that you're so beautiful and I can tell you're a really loving person and I look forward to more videos. PS I too, have a Bengal. He's an F2 generation brown rosette with no tail and he's 18 lbs lol. I call him Mewmews aka "Goobs".. he's a hoot. Have a great cheat meal tonight.. ps if your wine makes you swell ( like it always does me ) drink some dandelion root tea

      Jeanette, I eat Keto, too, and I must say I don't feel like I have "given up carbs". I've learned how to make low carb bread, "potatoes", etc that taste SO good! Plus I can have them with lots of grass-fed butter! I also IF, but usually just do a 20/4 as it is what my body seems to want. I am so busy I eat usually only eat dinner, around 4. If hungry I eat more, earlier, of course, but I rarely ever am. Sometimes I eat a parmesan crisp with almond butter. The keto way of eating really cuts the appetite. I do drink a lot of coffee with heavy cream, also. I can't do sugars or starches as they send my blood sugar up WITH my appetite! One of my favorite LC meals is from "Low Carb Mavin".... Lamb Chops with a brandy cream sauce... oh.my.goodness!! My husband said, " we are REALLY suffering" as we ate that over faux potatoes (cauliflower with Celeriac root, heavy cream and butter).. also from that site! We really DO have to figure out what works for us!

      +VDR928 I'm doing keto and I drink a lot of heavy cream in my coffee too. I'm experimenting with intermittent fasting right now. I used to be hungry all the time when I ate carbs. It feels so good to be in control of my appetite FINALLY!!!

      @jleight9544 7 років тому

      VDR928 so true! 20/4? That's pretty strict:-) are you drinking your creamy coffee until 4? Being a former competitor I understand the tortures of certain diets and JJ is right that it really comes down to healthy mind healthy body. Keto is super easy for me because I am satiated and my mental acuity is strong. I make my own keto bread too and it's delicious!

    I'm not the healthiest eater in the world, but I try... that being said I wouldn't eat most the stuff on the table. Too processed. Also, low fat items are full of hydrogenated oils and extra sugar. I would rather have a smaller amount of the full fat.

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  7 років тому +3

      I think the hardest part for me is eating in moderation. Lol! But I definitely mentioned quite a few things that I eat regularly like...watermelon, strawberries, edamame, raw zucchini, frozen grapes, cauliflower, eggs whites, boiled eggs, chicken breast, filet mignon, veggie burgers, baked potatoes. I eat most of those things weekly. I don't think I do too bad. I have a decent balance. Baby steps. 😉

    Totally agree with you on so many levels Jen. I too think if you give mostly healthy options for your kids that even if they go off the deep end in college (pizza ...you name it) that they eventually go back to their favorite foods they were raised eating. I am 32 and feeling in the best shape in my life doing a lower carb approach and finally have a good relationship with food. It feels amazing to be in this spot mentally and physically. You have some great suggestions! I'm going to try a version of the bean soup with turkey. One thing to think of, most recent nutrition developments have not been focusing on fat as much as actual ingredients and sugar, which is the major culprit in most processed foods. You might be surprised how much sugar is hidden in many foods and that's a driving reason for many of us to focus on clean eating and real foods. Sugar is very addictive and finally being found to be practically poison in the amounts American consume it! You have no doubt made many smart dietary choices over the years, and it shows!

    I eat, cook and snack very similarly to you. Don't use oils or fry anything and only eat lean everything. One thing I do now is to substitute raw baby spinach leaves instead of lettuce because lettuce has very little nutritional value and spinach is a super food packed with good nutrients. So I eat spinach on tacos, sandwiches, break up in scrambling eggs, in rice dishes, etc. My favorite lunch is usually a few pieces of lean turkey rolled up with spinach leaves and diced tomato inside and dip it in some kind of low fat dressing. I want to try using the low fat or fat free yogurt like you suggested to use for dipping or a sour cream substitute. Thanks for sharing. Laurie

    I'm loving your videos and I especially enjoyed this one, I'm gathering from this show and tell that you Eat Until Satisfied . I after a lifetime of calorie deprivation have suddenly discovered this way of eating , 'eat until satisfied', I myself have gone High Carb Low Fat Vegan and I'm loving it, I'm not suggesting this for anyone else but myself, but I'm loving it . I also intermittent fast, I finish eating around 7-8pm and don't eat my first meal until around midday. It's liberating when you know rice and potatoes are not the enemy and it's such a versatile base for all my veggies . I also make my own Hummus with just white beans, garbanzo beans a little tahini lemon spices and sometimes jalapeño , it's lovely and goes with everything and I make my own chips with mission wraps that I smear with lime juice and add a seasoning , I love getting some ideas from Mr& mrs vegan, high carb Hannah , and a really down to earth lass called cooking with plants. I add you to my list because you have fantastic advise , you look gorgeous and have a beautiful family. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. 🌺🌶🍉❤️

I am older then you and would like to support your words about staying healthy and great looking in body through the whole life. I have never gained a pound, being at 5.8' /125 pounds my whole life. According others I look more then 20 years younger and no health problems whatsoever, so it's surely helps in both; health and also overall appearance. Thank you so much! I think it's wonderful that you've been able to remain healthy and keep a healthy weight all these years. It breaks my heart when I see people feel controlled by food and helpless against it. It doesn't have to be "bad" for us to taste good. You don't have to sacrifice one for the other. I just think most people are unaware that there are alternatives. Hi Jenifer! I just came across your channel in my feed and have watched several of your videos this evening. I'm especially interested in the topic of intermittent fasting and just watched the one above, writing down all your tips and suggestions for healthy foods. I'm 56 years old, have been overweight most of my adult life ; on a number of occasions I've changed my eating habits to include healthy, whole foods, lost weight, felt great but when life & living drew my focus away from that, I eventually fell back into bad habits and patterns, gained the weight (plus some!) back and so the story goes.
    The reason I'm particularly interested in your healthy lifestyle videos is that my husband had bariatric surgery in January 2019 to cure his T2 diabetes and has lost almost 70#. This is great for him especially as it's impacted his diabetes in a positive way, but we used to be of similar size and stature which meant I never felt "fat" or unattractive with him. He always has and still does accept me for who I am but now encourages me to look into having bariatric surgery myself so that I will lose the weight permanently and so we'll be "on the same page" in regards to eating, etc. I do NOT want to have surgery to lose weight but feel defeated in my expectation to ever lose weight and keep it off.
    Back to the point of your channel, my brother recently sent some information via email about intermittent fasting and although I at first shrugged it off as "over the top" I now see the value in it. And I'm so glad to have learned how IF has become your way of life and keeps you fit and healthy. I've been getting back into my whole foods lifestyle, reading all the labels (per Food Babe's influence!) and doing the things that I know will help me to lose weight and as of tonight, I will begin intermittent fasting as well! Wow!! That was a VERY long "comment"!!! Just know that I'm thankful to have found your channel and I know I'll enjoy getting to know you and learning about many things as I watch in the coming days and weeks!

Then they proceed to be hypocritical. You have your advice based on what works for you and obviously it's working for you! I eat similarly and it works for me. Thanks for the videos, hopefully the haters can find a life.

      Thank you for saying that Sarah. 😊 It easy sometimes to get caught up in trying to avoid criticism by omitting information or being less than forthcoming. However, I think, at the end of the day, it's just best to be honest. Some people will love you for it and other's will poke holes in everything you do. Thank you for your comment. 😊

    People who are overweight do that “ Just wait until “ Or “ You are just lucky “comment all the time to thin people .NO it is about watching calories not luck.( if you are beyond teenage years) I do the cheat days too but watch 80% of the time .If someone sees you for example eating pizza on a cheat day and they are bigger then you ,they think it’s not fair .The honest truth is it is a choice.If you want to be thin you have to work at it period. I wish people would understand that it is truly that simple.You look great Jennifer!

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you Star! 🌺 I agree! There’s nothing easy about being thin or fit after age 40...even after age 30. Heck, after you’ve had kids! Lol! I tell my kids that everything great in life comes with 4 things...Sacrifice, Discipline, Dedication and Consistency. It’s not always easy to refrain from eating whatever you’d like, and it’s definitely not easy to force yourself to exercise regularly. But if you have certain body goals in mind and you’re determined to achieve them, you’ll do what it takes.😊. Plus, cheat nights give you something to look forward to. 😘

    I improoved my health with plant based food,i do also intermetted fasting.But avoid all the unhealthy animal proteins and fats.
    I started plant based food because i was very concerned about animal farming and what happens with the nature(Rainforrest for example)and that our lifestyle harms the rest of the world.After one year i saw the Film "Forks over knifes" and i saw that i choosed the right way and before i saw the film or was reading the China Study,i felt that the change of my lifestyle improofed my health step by step.

    I loved this video and I thank you for going so in depth about your outlook on food and your meals. My biggest downfall is snacks that I get for my kids because if it's in the house, I will eat it, sadly enough. If I was alone, it would be much easier when it comes to stuff like that. What do you think of olive oil? My mom uses olive oil in almost anything and keeps telling me that it is actually good for us.

    Also I want to add someone once said "and are built in the kitchen not the gym" and its really true you can do all the ab work you want but if you're not eating right you won't get the results you want, not saying you can't be thin if you work out hard daily, you will burn off bad eating but typically when you hit a certain that won't work you'll hv to eat right!

    Thanks for sharing and most of all thanks for your honesty . When some one shares their lifestyle choices so openly and honestly , like you do ., it always leaves it open for people to comment on {usually what you're doing wrong }. When you started to mention canned , packet and processed food , i quickly and pathetically scrolled to the comment section to see what nutritional opinions and advice was been given and i was quiet impressed with they way you approached and addressed the situation , I really like the way you address that this is what has worked for you . { LOVED IT ]
    I love the concept of pre organising ready to eat snacks with your chopped up water mellon and fresh chicken breasts strips , sliced up zucchini , kept in the fridge , I myself like to do this as well . I also love my food dehydrator for all my fresh veggies that are nearly on their way out , as I can dehydrate them and place them in baggies in a air tight container , Bananas are the bomb , when they are dehydrated as I maKe mine "chewy" and sometimes I was place some honey on them , just before they go into the dehydrator . { I mention this as I was 'BIG EYING ' your bananas in the back ground , lol . I will admit it , , its hard to do everything right not forgetting to mention expensive and extremely time consuming . I just wish that the canned , packet and processed food people would make it a lot healthier for us , haha , but until they do , looks like I will be back to grinding my wheat to make my bread and milking my cow to drink my milk ... NOTTTTT !! HAHA
    Love ya to bits Jen , and love ya videos , keep on shining on :)

      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  7 років тому

      Thank you so much Kells. You are hilarious with your "grinding wheat and milking cows" comment! Lol!! 😆😄 This was one of those videos that I had anxiety about releasing, for all the reasons that you mentioned. There are such polarizing ideas about food and nutrition and it can be a very sensitive topic for a lot of people. But I do the same thing!! When someone mentions something in a video that I know to be "controversial" I scroll to the comment section. Lol! Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment! 😊

    Absolutely LOVE all your ideas. I will definitely be trying some. The coconut yogurt is my favorite "treat" as well...I add a peeled cutie and a tablespoon or 2 (you don't need much) of unsweetened coconut and stir it all together...heavenly! Ambrosia salad healthy style! (Sometimes I add a few halved grapes and walnuts as well...depends on my mood and if it's a snack or lunch) I've backed off of low carb eating for a bit and am going to just give healthy eating a try...I was missing my carbs way too much! Would love to see more healthy recipes from you! Thanks for sharing...and kudos for you for sticking to your plan even when traveling. That is SO hard for so many of us.

    Hi Jennifer! I really like your concept of intermittent fasting. Some really good ideas as far as the foods you eat. I saw the workout videos, but what do you do for cardio? How many days a week do you workout? My workouts are pretty hard and at 51 years old, I feel like it is really starting to get tough for me. I wish I could train myself better as far as eating healthier just so I wouldn't have to workout so hard. I have a terrible sweet tooth and am always looking for snacks and sweets after dinner where my weaknesses fall. Keep up the great informational videos!

    OMG I HATE when people tell me that I'm going to gain weight once I hit my 30s or have children. I went to college and never gained the freshman 15. Yeah Im still young, but I dont eat garbage. I eat a really clean diet and exercise. It's not rocket science. All of these people that tell me things like that are obese or overweight because of their crappy diets and sedentary lifestyles. I hate when people make thin women feel that way. Like no, I take pride in my health, fuck off ;) You look amazing. You actually have a way better body than all of the girls I know my age and I'll be 25 soon.

      Awe...thank you Molly! Yeah, it used to bother me too, all the "Just waits". I just wanted to roll my eyes. I knew it was possible to avoid if you put your mind to it. I'd seen other women do it, so I knew I could too. I did watch your video about what you eat and I have to say, you eat way better than I do! Keep it up, that's awesome!! Because I promise you, since you're still young and you already know how to feed and fuel your body properly, that will never go away, and food will never be the enemy. 😊

    Great video Jenifer! I agree that having prepared food in your fridge is a lifesaver. Whenever I can't be bothered to take a few minutes and prepare, I always regret it. Do you eat avocados? I love them and put them sliced or mashed with a drizzle of olive oil in salads and sandwiches instead of mayo. I really love greek yogurt too. Living in Greece, I sometimes go for the full fat version ( 3.8%) with the thick, creamy skin on top. It's actually very good for you if eaten in moderation, chock full of vitamins. You can also empty the contents of one or two containers in cheesecloth, mix it with a teaspoon of salt, tie it up in a bundle, and put it in a colander on top of a dish to catch the whey that drains from it. Stick it in your fridge and in a few days, you have healthy, thick, home made cream cheese. Try it!

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty
      @JeniferJenkinsBeauty  7 років тому

      Hi Eva! 😊 Ooh, I love avocados! Especially because they contain "good fats" along with fiber, vitamin C, potassium etc. What a great idea to use it instead of mayo! Wow, that's awesome that you make your own cream from Greek Yogurt!
