I realized two years later that this video may have inspired me to pursue what I previously considered “guilty pleasures” that I liked, but would never admit to liking. For instance, I like watching animatics, even when I have no clue what the animator is animating. That confidence boost led to me trying new things I considered cringe such as Monster Prom and Deltarune, and they’re now two of my favorite games. Thanks, Dom. I'm part of a fandom which is always judged as screaming teenage girls (many of us are adults though)..but yeah I dismiss the stereotyping and always remind myself that I'm allowed to like things despite the odds.
Reminds me of how plenty of Games I both Play and Don’t Play but know about, often get described as “The game that 9 y/o’s play” when in reality I see full grown men stream it casually, fun times.
I actually kept myself from watching any anime for years in fear of being judged for watching it. I even pretended that I thought anime was stupid just so I could attempt to fit in with the people around me. It really sucks how judgement from others can cause people to not try things they are interested in.
I was guilty of this in middle school, and then I went to highschool and found a new group of friends that were less judgemental and toxic. My new friends even helped me get into anime and gave me some good recommendations which was very cool. One of my favorite memories from that era was hanging out with my buddies and binging Death Note together, since it was my first time watching.
I’ve literally had to explain this to multiple people. I actually had a friend say they didn’t want to be friends anymore because I liked wearing sandals. Which, was just the stupidest thing.
I feel like everyone has been "made fun of" just because of something they like. I know I have and it wasn't fun to hide my interests for literal years until I found a friend who liked the same things as me. Can society just grow up please? I was made fun of in middle school for being interested in aviation, so I looked up two photos of similar looking planes (b717 and md80) and told them to tell me which ones which. They couldn’t tell and so I proceeded to shame them for being idiots, and pointed out all the differences and “Oh ItS sO oBvIoUs HoW cAn YoU nOt TeLl”. They were my close friends and we ended up having a good laugh about it afterwards

I came back to this video because I recently tried rock climbing and was trying to remember which video you mentioned it in. I know Im late to this video shush. I needed to hear this. I'm surrounded by people who almost constantly shit on the things I like (Lemon Demon, Talking Heads, DEVO, Stranger Things, Guaranteed* Video etc) and I've gotten very afraid of talking openly about my interests with them, leading to me feeling like I'm stepping on eggshells and getting more and more anxious. Last year I tried my best to fit in class, in my family and group of friends. Do what they also do, hate what they hate and act like how they act. Though it took a long time to be myself, I'm starting to get a hold of it so thanks Dom, really helpful and will try to become confident about myself.
I hate people like this. I have a wide range of interests but people keep on trying to put me in certain groups. I like anime, I also play football and other sports. I like every kind of music. I play video games, a lot of them. Yet I like chess and strategy games. I also love farming and working on cars, as well as going in hikes. Yet people keep on judging me when I do anything and put me in a specific group. It's really annoying and pisses me off.
Was like that in high school. But I also started noticing a lot of other football players were low-key into anime as well. Truth is, I'm pretty sure almost everyone who has actually watched an anime is low-key into it, but they're too scared to admit it because of the stigma society has put around it

People will eventually or should know if what they like is TRULY wrong, it is up to that person if their perspective changes as they gain new information. Well, when I was a kid, i liked girly stuff, but as i got older, i turned into a tomboy and it was no phase, it was the new me. I started to like boyish things during elementary school and middle school. But things changed, i started to like cute things again during high school and i realized something, I'm actually my own tomboy. Society told me things about tomboys, what they should and what they shouldn't like.
This type of content is something that really makes me feel better about liking stuff. In fandoms it always feels like liking ships and reading fanfiction is a crime or something, because "ew, fangirls" and that really makes me feel bad. So what if I like utaite whose songs are the epitome of "Otome Game", I like them, period

I realized two years later that this video may have inspired me to pursue what I previously considered “guilty pleasures” that I liked, but would never admit to liking. For instance, I like watching animatics, even when I have no clue what the animator is animating. That confidence boost led to me trying new things I considered cringe such as Monster Prom and Deltarune, and they’re now two of my favorite games. Thanks, Dom. I actually kept myself from watching any anime for years in fear of being judged for watching it. I even pretended that I thought anime was stupid just so I could attempt to fit in with the people around me. It really sucks how judgement from others can cause people to not try things they are interested in.

I was guilty of this in middle school, and then I went to highschool and found a new group of friends that were less judgemental and toxic. My new friends even helped me get into anime and gave me some good recommendations which was very cool. One of my favorite memories from that era was hanging out with my buddies and binging Death Note together, since it was my first time watching.

I was made fun of in middle school for being interested in aviation, so I looked up two photos of similar looking planes (b717 and md80) and told them to tell me which ones which. I hate people like this. I have a wide range of interests but people keep on trying to put me in certain groups. I like anime, I also play football and other sports. I like every kind of music. I play video games, a lot of them. Yet I like chess and strategy games. I also love farming and working on cars, as well as going in hikes. the only reason that made me want to comment was because the wording immediately confused me. I don't really like mint chocolate myself, but when he said that I was like "how doesn't it make sense? it's just mint and chocolate, that's just it, what about that doesn't make sense?"
Am I the only one that watches animated videos on UA-cam (Domics, Jaiden Animations, TheOdd1sOut, Tabbes and many more) incredibly often? When I'm just doing something I let the videos run in the background and find it very comforting and enjoyable... Man, their content is amazing, I love it :)))
