I believe the heart needs purification and only God can do that cause the purification of the heart brings about clean mind and clean thinking so sin will be avoided.

James 4:8-9 Tells us to purify our hearts. Then it tells us how.
      I believe it's describing fasting.
When we fast, it's not only food that we go without. We also go without sinning.
Without any pleasure. sin is pleasureful.
So we actually fast everything when we fast. We fast joy even. Because fasting is affliction of the soul and denial of the flesh.
JAMES 4: 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

@Joe Turner 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. "
That is God's message for you Maractus. Your own body does not belong to you. It belongs to the Holy Father. It is a temple that he has created with his own hands. And the soul, just like the body was his creation.
What is more important to you... The pleasure of smoking a cigarette? Or praising and cherishing the work of your Holy Father.
With God everything is possible. So i suggest you look at the box of cigarettes in your right hand. Look at them for a minute or two. Then crush them up. Throw them in the trash. And make sure they are destroyed. The minute you destroy what destroys you, you're a step ahead of the evil.
Smoking can cause cancer. And cancer can cause death. I'm sure you wouldn't want to stand in front of the good Lord because smoking killed you right? I'm sure he will ask you what happened to his sacred temple that is your body. Your longs that become black. God is more important than the pleasures of this earth, since the pleasure HERE is limited, while the pleasure up there in God's kingdom is ETERNAL.
Stay strong my brother. In Jesus his name, Amen.

If we are already forgiven and dont need to ask for forgiveness, then we can continue to sin with no consequence. 1 John 3:6
Whoever abides in Him [Jesus] *does not sin.* Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
It is the truth that will set you free:
      John 8:31-36
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples. 32 *And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”* 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?” 34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, *whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.* 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore *if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.*
If you realize that you are trapped and need to be delivered, knowing what you need to do goes together with prayers for your deliverance, because you must follow God's instructions to you in your situation. You must be willing to see what it feels like to say "No" to a desire of your flesh when you are being tempted, and see how the temptation goes away.
      James 1:12-15
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
      1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
God's saving grace will help you overcome sin and live a new life that is pleasing to Him:
      Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, 12 *instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;* 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might *redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.*
      Peace to you!

You're not alone in that sin. I was a struggling alcoholic for 20+ years. I finally prayed and said to the Lord " either deliver me from this trap or put an end to my life. I don't want this anymore." I did just like you : drink then repent; drink then repent. Got to the point I even started questioning if there was a God who actually heard my cries for deliverance. It wasn't till I hit rock bottom (lost my job, my family (almost), my integrity, etc, etc) that I reached that all too familiar point; quit - or die. That's how serious a matter that pecker-headed habit had become. It's only when you're ready to get pissed-off enough to realize that you alone can do nothing and that only God himself can destroy that useless addiction in your life, and when you get tired of losing out in life - then you'll truly become the clay in His hands that you were meant to be all along. Screw alcohol. That's been my attitude towards it for the last nineteen years of sobriety that only God himself could deliver me from. Not hospitals; not counselors; not AA (the blind leading the blind); God and God alone breaks those chains. Everything and everyone else had failed and failed miserably. Only God proved absolutely true to His word.
Put your past and all the hurts associated with it out of your mind. Set that baggage down along the road and walk away from it. Who are you carrying that bag of bricks for anyway? Set it down. Walk away. Never look back.

@@wakeywakey8603 If you understand repentance and you know it's about turning from disobedience to God to obedience to God, it is that obedience that will purify your heart.
      Here it's done already:

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God.

I am saved, I did ask for forgiveness for my lust but did I truly repent If I keep going to the same sin even though I fight it? The Bible says the impure will not inherit the kingdom of God... but I dont know what repentence is. Is it just asking forgiveness or is it also turning away from sin?

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth Рік тому

@breatheeasily4013 The Gospel's message calls people to repentance and faith (Acts 20:20-21). Repentance is about turning from disobedience (sin) to obedience (righteousness). And faith is about obeying God continuously or faithfully. That is why it's a journey, not a moment's decision about accepting some facts as true (like Jesus came to save sinners, suffered and died and rose again). All that must be believed (not be doubted) but that saves no one without a commitment to obey Jesus.
      Hebrews 5:9
And having been made perfect, He [Jesus] became the author of eternal *salvation to all those who obey Him*
Obeying Jesus or following Him puts someone on a path that is opposite to the path of following after sin. So, if someone's focus is to obey Jesus, that by itself will put an end to sinning deliberately because that is the opposite of obeying Jesus.
God is going to forgive you on the basis of your repentance that must be sincere. And your obedience to God is how you will show your love for God:
      1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
God expects you to remain committed to Him and be obedient to Him. If you repent of something then do it again, then repent again, but don't think that can become a pattern of sinning (disobeying God) and repenting. What that will show is that there is a problem with your repentance and you need to address that. Continuing to choose sin will harden your heart and no one can say when you will go too far and cannot find any sincerity in your heart to return to God again and be forgiven. So, the best way to show Jesus that you appreciate his sacrifice for you is through your obedience to Him.
If you realize that you are trapped and need to be delivered, knowing what you need to do goes together with prayers for your deliverance, because you must follow God's instructions to you in your situation. You must be willing to see what it feels like to say "No" to a desire of your flesh when you are being tempted, and see how the temptation goes away (James 1:12-15, 1 Corinthians 10:13). God's grace will help you to do that and He will be with you in all those moments if your focus is on loving and pleasing Him above all and you trust that He will deliver you.
It helps to see the grace of God this way:
      Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, 12 *instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;* 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might *redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.*
You just need to approach God the way He expects you to-with the right mindset:
      James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness [that's repentance], receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith, which implies obedience], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
      James 4:7-8
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
This is always a good place to start drawing near to God:
      Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
That will lead you to transformation by the power of God and freedom from sin.
      Peace to you!

You must sincerely regret having sinned against God, and come to the point of hearing and agreeing 100% with Jesus' message saying, "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11). Your obedience as you choose to follow God's ways is key-that's how you show your faith to God (John 3:36, Luke 6:46, Hebrews 3:17-18). That opens the door to receiving his *forgiveness* for your past sins (2 Peter 1:9), *healing* (Luke 5:31-32), *freedom from sin/addictions* (John 8:34-36), and the gift of *a new life* that you will live for God and no longer for sin and the passing things of the world (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15). You must submit to God. That is essential:

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
That's what the attitude of your heart needs to be when you are going through the process of *repentance* and 👉 committing to be obedient to God for the rest of your life. You must recognize that understanding as part of your seeking Jesus' salvation or a relationship with God.
      James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls [that's repentance]. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith, which implies obedience], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
      Hebrews 5:9
And having been made perfect, He [Jesus] became the author of 👉 *eternal salvation to all those who obey Him [...].*
Please stay in the word and obey it (James 1:21-22). The word of God is fuel for your faith. To live as a follower of Jesus you must go out of your way to put the word of God in your heart and keep it there, rejecting all distractions. It's a fight and that's how you need to stand to not fall down. The truth will set you free from all sin (John 8:31-32, 36).

Those who have truly been Born Again are changed and freed from the struggle against sin. People just don't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to change them completely.
1 John 3-7 "Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

The bible said if we kept repeating "the same mistakes/sins" over and over again, then we might not be forgiven by God... Why?... because DEATH is only around the corner, and may catch up with us that we have no time to repent, then we are not SAVE (like death by accident, heart attack, etc.)... Christ said, keep your clothes/garments "CLEAN" at all times for you never know when the THIEF (Death) comes in your doorway...
The "THIEF" symbolized "DEATH" and the "2ND COMING OF CHRIST," for nobody knows "the day and the hour" neither by the Son of God nor the Angels but the Father God alone knows...
The bible said, that God is the "GIVER and TAKER" of all His creation's "LIVES"... while Christ Jesus (Son of God) is the "Life Giver" only... Christ said, he who believes in me, and I in him will have the Eternal (Giving) Life... To God, be the Glory, Power, and Honor, in Christ Jesus name... Amen.

Salvation is not a lottery. Stop spreading this rubbish. You think Christ went through all that, died horrifically to give us temporary salvation. You are telling the world that we are saved as long as we squeeze in repentance before a car hits us?! Absolute tosh!

@@grayharwood I never said SALVATION was like a lottery, that was your understanding and interpretation... FYI, In the beginning, God created Mankind both Immortal Body and Soul in which the Spirit dwells... When the 1st couple (Adam/Eve) sinned against God thru their flesh/body by eating the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, their Immortal Bodies' lost Immortality, and eventually thru time, the Body dies, but the SOUL continuous to live and God put them in a certain place that only God know as their "Waiting Area" for Judgement Day of God... that is why we have LIFE AFTER DEATH... animals do not have SOUL, as human's do, but God commanded us to take care (not to abuse them) of God's creation... (animals and mother nature)
All the dead and the living humans will be given back their own original Immortal bodies just like when they were born (in a blink of an Eye, for nothing is impossible to God), and all will see themselves again in Perfection (No handicaps) to FACE the Fair Judgment of God in His designated Time... whether Eternal suffering and pain with Satan in Hell or Eternal Happiness and love with God in Heaven... The choice is ours while we are still alive before the THIEF of the NIGHT (Death) comes to us... Life is too short here on Earth... compare to our Life after Death, where Death has no more power over us... Amen.

I would think the more you do it the more danger you are in of not being forgiven. That is unless you genuinely repent and finally stop doing. Now if you are not doing it intentionally, Jesus can tell. He knows all and sees all and I would think that if it wasn't intentional you are more likely to be forgiven. Someone may have a mental illness that causes them to do things and Jesus knows who does and does not.

I wonder if the flesh sins, or is the spiritual sin worst. Because the law is the flesh, but the spirit should line up with Yeshua????.Not sure.

      You are talking about Paul:
      Romans 7:19
For the good that I want to do, I do not do; but the evil I do not want to do, that I do.
These are the words of a person under the law and seeking to be saved. That is not the experience of a saved person.
      Romans 6:14
For *sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace.*
The entire Romans 6 chapter should be eye-opening as far as what living as a Christian should look like. God will judge what He sees in a person's heart for sure, so no question of keeping wickedness in one's heart and doing evil (that's synonymous to sinning).
      Psalm 139:23-34
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
      Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Make sure you approach God in genuine repentance so you will have the Holy Spirit to lead you to "walk by the Spirit" (Acts 2:38, Galatians 5:16)-with a pure heart and self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). That's what gets you into Romans 8:1-2:
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, *who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.* 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me *free from the law of sin and death.*
Jesus surely will judge all things. There are examples in Revelation 2 and 3. There is no case where Jesus saw people committing sin and saying that He knows their heart as if saying He knows there are upright while He sees them doing evil. That's not in the picture at all. People who aren't right with God need to repent and get right with God, then He will be pleased with what's in their heart. In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus told the people in the backslidden churches to repent or else they would no longer be part of Him or receive eternal life.

Jehovahs eitnesses believe Jesus made a "secret return" at the beginning of the 20th century. They are heretics.. that means people who reject what the Bible says, or alter it to fit their own agenda and narrative. The Bible says that Jesus will come back after the world has experienced many different sufferings, and that we must stay watchful until that time. But don't take my word for it, read the Bible! I'd recommend starting in Matthew if you want to know more about what He said in this matter:)

This is false, we habitually sin daily in thought and action. How is this good news if someone can hear/believe and all of a sudden lose it if we fall into a season of sin? It seems like most of the people that believe this grew up in a first world country or a good neighborhood that hasn't seen death or every sin possible all around them. Also, what constitutes big and little sin? Knowing to do right and doing wrong is sin. What a joke religion has become taking over the good news of the gospel (grace).

Well said. Some of these comments truly show that they dont quite understand the true power of GOD. They act like salvation is like a lottery. That Jesus allowed himself to be tortured and killed to save us on a Monday but maybe not Tuesday!, that we are not saved by grace. They dont quite get what 'It is finished' means.
Too much scriptural sword fighting on here to try and outdo others in biblical knowledge. Spreading fear and destroying the joy that is in the salvation that was granted to us.

    • @yestothetruth
      @yestothetruth Рік тому

If you twist what grace means and what it's given for, how good is that? My reply is to your comment regardless of what anyone else is saying in the video or in the comments.
If the grace of God instructs you to say 'No' to sin, then that part is up to you. The result is freedom from sin (John 8:34-36, Romans 6:7, Romans 6:14-18). But you see habitually sinning daily in thought and action, not as describing the life of someone who needs to get saved from that life, but as being the case of everybody before or after they had turned to God. And if you are wrong about something, don't you want to receive the correction? Pride will not allow you for sure, even if you can't find any scripture that supports your belief. But don't let it blind you. You should know what pride can do to you. This is a reminder and its connected to receiving the grace the Bible talks about:
      James 4:6
... “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Being tempted to sin never means you have to end up committing sin (see James 1:13-15, 1 Corinthians 10:13, 1 Peter 4:1). And that is why the grace of God can be received in vain by someone who does not use it for what it's given for: to live for God, no longer for sin/addictions and the passing things of the world.
Submission to God (obedience to his will) is where sinning stops:
      James 4:7-8
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

@@yestothetruth You are accusing others of 'twisting grace' Then go on to try and persuade others to see Gods grace in a different way (your way).Listing out scriptural verses without the proper context of each verse IS twisting the Word and just scriptural sword fighting that serves no one but yourself. @@grayharwood Are you not of those who have heard Jesus say, "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11)? If you could relate to having had an encounter with Jesus with an understanding that Jesus said that to you, you would have responded otherwise because you would have believed in having another life than a life of sinning nonstop. That's precisely the life Jesus came into the world to save sinners from.
You just have to read Titus 2:11-14 to know what receiving God's grace does. What does that have to do with anything I am implying? You can read the scripture in your own Bible.
Please show how the scriptures I have used were not used in their proper context.
You need to address your *unbelief.*
      ️1 Peter 4:1-3
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for *he who has suffered in the flesh has 👉 ceased from sin,* 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the desires of men, but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of *our past lifetime* in doing the will of the Gentiles-when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.
This is not anything I am implying. It's what the scriptures say. The question is, do you believe it? Then if you do, go on and seek to understand what having suffered in the flesh is about instead of opposing the truth.

Your first response basically informed anyone reading your message that when you come to and accept Christ you will no longer sin! This is a blatant lie and a misrepresentaion of what scripture says.
