Catholics believe they must do good works such as taking mass to make it to heaven, whereas the protestants know salvation is a gift of grace and there’s nothing we can do to obtain our salvation/heavenly home.

Faith plus works simply means that we must show our faith through love. Love is the most important factor here. We can have faith but if we don't have love we are nothing. We do good works because we believe and because we want to love everyone. Faith is shown when we love God above all. I can say I love God but if I willingly sin I am lying when I say I love god.

Actually it is more than that.
To have Faith in our Lord is to Trust our Lord. Trusting Him means we obey Him, pray to Him, worship Him. All these are j necessary live into the New Covenant of Jesus. None of these are optional. They are all required for Salvation.
Not in order to earn Salvation but to be in right communion and relationship with our Lord :)

The works of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior that work through us due to His grace received after baptism and true belief (repentance and loving obedience to His commands) are not the works of men! They are Christ's works working in and through us due to the salvation received (justification) and being received (sanctification). Faith without such works (of Christ) is dead!

@@krouse67 Hi krause, thanks for asking. I don't mind the pot getting stirred up once in awhile because once everything settles then hopefully someone will be able to see more clearly. So now let me attempt to answer your question to your satisfaction.
Many non catholics believe the thief was saved like a protestant and not like a catholic because he was not baptized. However he wasn't saved like a protestant either because protestants believe that you must receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to be saved. But the indwelling of the Holy Spirit was not possible until the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 which was about two months after the thief died on the cross. He could not have been Baptized because without the Holy Spirit there can be no Sacraments. So the Sacraments were not available to the thief and neither was the Holy Spirit. Protestants must believe in the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus but the thief did not believe those things so how could he have been saved like a protestant? So as you can see everything changed on Pentecost.
Pentecost is the grand opening of God's Most Holy Spirit filled Church. The Sacraments are what make the Church. Without the Sacraments there would be no Church and therefore no Salvation.
A Sacrament is a visible sign given by Christ to give Grace. Baptism is a perfect example of this. Without Grace no one can go to Heaven.... not even infants. Infants need Grace and since they are not able to believe then it is a parent's grave responsibility to ensure the proper Baptism of their children. Just read Acts chapter 2 and see for yourself when those first converts received Grace . Then ask yourself if the thief had lived to see Pentecost could he be saved if he refused to be Baptized on Pentecost? Nothing has changed since Pentecost. We still receive Grace in exactly the same way and there is no other Biblical way to receive Grace. I hope this answers your question. Got any more?

Jesus was Jewish! He was never Roman Catholic. The most important about the Protestant Reformation was to bring the basic gospel into the hands of the ordinary people in their own language and remember only the Elite spoke and read Latin at that time and Jesus died for all not only for
the rich who tried to buy their way into Heaven by indulgances. Thanks to the Reformers access to Bibles in many languages became available over time. Surely that was not a bad thing and brought democracy to ordinary Christians. Jesus never told a man to run the Church on earth as he gave that job to the Holy Spirit his true Vicar on Earth. Please please read your Roman Bible. Btw most Bibles say roughly the same thing as I have many different versions including a Catholic version and didn't see much difference between it and the KJV and NIV and others. God bless you Vena and do read up about the Reformation it might surprise you.

    • @AnnetteMurphyger
      @AnnetteMurphyger 2 роки тому

Do you agree with buying indulgances then? Jesus gave up His life freely and shed His Blood and you can't charge for the free gift of salvation. I pray God will open your eyes to the truth as the RCC has led so many sincere people of faith astray. The RCC didn't write the Bible orginally they only translated it and the Jews wrote the Old Testament. The Reformers had to protest against the power and corruption of the Vatican in 1517 as they were selling salvation for the highest price through indulgances. I will agree that some protestants are very liberal in relation to abortion, but we as Evangelicals do not condone abortion at any stage nor gay marriage nor euthensia I can assure you. Yes the Church was known as the catholic (universal) Church, but they made errors along the way and the refoemwrs we're just trying to correct those errors but the RCC just wouldn't listen to them so they had to go according to their conscience and the Word of God and sadly it led to a split. Many were killed for this too. Dear Catholic I also was deceived by the RCC until I start reading the Bible and I said you must be born again John 3:3/7.

This is so ridiculously partial. “Roman Catholic tradition” (instead of oral tradition) “doctrine of purgatory” “worship of Mary” all misnomers. There is no doctrine of purgatory in Catholicism. They don’t worship Mary (adoration and worship are not the same).
The Catholic Church organized the various letters and gospels in circulation in the 2nd century AD into the Bible, based largely upon oral tradition and the supposed guidance of the Holy Spirit. Where in the Bible does it talk about the Trinity? Where in the Bible does it say that scripture is inerrant? (Especially when you can find discrepancies through the text? …in Romans 10, Paul quotes Isaiah 65, but if you look at Isaiah 65 he is mistaken (or the text changed somehow)). Remember he gave the keys and authority to Saint Peter. so he and Saint Paul established the church Rome. Saint Peter was the first Pope, meaning The Authority. The center of all christianity. That is why the Vatican is in Rome.
The problem with Protestants is it was established by a mere human: Martin Luther, not Jesus.
Protestant doesnt have any center of authority, so what happened? they crumbled into pieces. they become shattered into different branches.
In the end, the Catholic Church remained strong withstanding brutal attacks for 2000 years.
And true to Jesus' word, it will withstand Hell.

There's always been born-again followers of Christ outside the "Italian Roman catholic church" which has nothing to do with the Gospel and everything with traditions.

Catholics believe that our grace isn’t merited by anything, faith or works. It is a free gift, given to us by God, won by Christ the Lord. Like in the medieval work, Dante, it basically says God stood by us, we were a slave to our sin, but God left no stone unturned, trying to get us into heaven. And He delivered us. Catholics believe that you must be Baptized, to be saved, this is not a work, but a Gift that washes away sins, gives the Holy Spirit, and is the way to be born again, accepted into the Church, the Family of God. We also believe you must have faith, we must cooperate with God, and not mortally (gravely) sin, live a life free from sin, and if we do sin, repent and go to Confession, and we will be forgiven.

----- Yes, he was. It's called Baptism of Desire:
----- The Thief expressed sorrow for his sins. He also expressed a desire to be with Jesus in His kingdom. So the good thief had a conversion of heart, and persevered in faith and good works to the end of his life, and Christ rewarded him with eternal salvation. Second, the Church has taught for 2,000 years that there are three ways to be baptized: *by water, by desire and by blood.*
In this case, the good thief had a baptism of desire (by expressing his desire to be with Christ, even though it was presumably too late for a water baptism; this is also the reason why we can believe infants who die before baptism can go to heaven, based on the parents desire to baptize them, but for some intervening cause that prevented it).
Martyrs who were not baptized in water and the Spirit, but martyred for Christ, are baptized by blood (i.e., the Holy Innocents).
So water baptism is a normative, but not an absolute necessity for salvation.
----- Jesus says to him that he will be in paradise. It should also be noted that when Jesus uses the word "paradise," He did not mean heaven. Paradise, from the Hebrew "sheol" meant the realm of the righteous dead. This was the place of the dead who were destined for heaven, but who were captive until the Lord's resurrection. Hence, the good thief was destined for heaven because of his desire to be with Jesus.

Your ignorance on Romans is palpable, and I beg to differ with you on needing help to understand Romans. Competent bible scholars say that Romans DOES NOT say what Protestants think it says. You should listen to them....I give two references later. BTW, who gave you the authority to determine who goes to hell? That decision is for God alone. You might want to take the time to read my more detailed response in this thread on why Luther got it horribly wrong, starting his own false, unauthorized man-made traditions of sola scriptura and sola fide. Both are easily refuted in the bible for anyone with any skill at all of interpreting the bible. And it is symptomatic of Protestant arrogance to think that all of Christianity got it wrong for 1500 years until Luther "enlightened" everyone. Common sense alone should tell someone how foolish that is. The bible actually warns that Paul is difficult to understand and Peter accurately predicts the coming Protestant confusion. You might want to take the time to heed 2 Peter 3:15-16, where he warns that "Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him (in context, speaking of how to obtain salvation), speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction." Mental instability was a hallmark of Martin Luther, and he led millions to his false teachings. Let me recommend two books to read from scholars with PhDs...former Protestant pastor Dr. John Bergsma wrote "Stunned by Scripture: How the Bible Made Me Catholic." Another great book for exposing Protestant errors is a book by Patrick Madrid, called "Surprised by Truth...11 Converts Give the Biblical and Historical Reasons for Becoming Catholic." It is so full of excellent information on the truth about the RCC, and how 11 staunch Protestants overcame the propaganda they were taught about the RCC to realize they were wrong. It takes intellectual honesty to thoroughly examine opposing viewpoints from competent sources, and these examples saw the truth of the RCC, and not the propaganda you see in this video.

You think you’re the first Catholic I’ve come across with these arguments? Not even close, my friend!
The Catholic Church claims to have given us the scripture, but this can’t possibly be true because the Bible doesn’t support ANY Catholic doctrine.
The Apostles were not Catholic and there is zero proof of this. You are repeating what you have been told, not what you have researched.
The scripture in Matthew said THIS rock, not Peter, YOU are the rock. Peter got a new name which wasn’t unusual in biblical history especially with the patriarchs, but Jesus used metaphors constantly and there is no reason to think otherwise in this verse. A metaphor is obvious, while “Peter the Pope” is outrageous.
The loosed and bound in heaven verse was referring to all of the disciples as they were all given the power to forgive sins when they were sent out. Jesus was speaking to all of His disciples at that time, not just Peter. Look closer at the context.
Catholics get so focused on words that you fail to see the rest of the verse.
The Catholic Church is also famous for twisting scripture, taking it out of context, and taking credit that doesn’t belong to them, such as claiming scripture was theirs and they gave it.
Scripture belongs to God, and to God alone. The Bible was completed in 70 AD and since then the Catholic Church has added to it at the Council of Trent, brought in pagan worship of just about everything but Christ, and made claims to scripture that aren’t there, just to name only a few atrocities.
I’m having a dialogue with another person as he is trying to convince me that Mary’s children were Joseph’s and not hers. When this didn’t work, he changed his story entirely to “siblings meant cousins”. He can’t, you can’t, prove Catholic dogma is true. Mary is definitely a creation of God and she was just an ordinary, repentant girl before she was chosen to bear Jesus. Having sin to repent of. We know from Ephesians 2:3 that we all were once by nature children of wrath and we have no reason to think Mary was an exception to this. The NT goes to great lengths to explain the sinlessness of Christ so I'd expect if anyone else were sinless it would also go to great lengths to explain their sinlessness considering the entire rest of humanity is sinful but we get no such detail for anyone. Any simple explanation is that no one else was sinless.
John 14:13-14 "Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." We are meant to pray to Jesus and to God through Jesus because and only because Jesus has the authority to grant what we ask. Mary does not have that authority. Nowhere are we told to pray to her and nowhere are we told that she has the ability to answer our prayers. Currently, she is an identical situation as with all the other saints in heaven, in God's presence.
I don't know how you think Christians worship but singing, reading the Word and hearing it taught is not the full extent of worship. We present our bodies as living sacrifices and seek to do HIs will, not our own, in all areas of life. Community, Church, Discipleship, Work, Parenting, Education... All areas of life are able to be performed in the Spirit and as acts of worship because we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. We are fanatic about our minds being renewed so that we can be transformed from our sinful ways and conformed to the image of Christ. We seek to do what is good and acceptable and perfect. That is our spiritual worship.
I wouldn't bother claiming that the only true form of worship is the celebration of the Catholic Mass unless you have a verse. There are plenty of verses that show how worship is to be conducted and nowhere do we see that physical Catholic church as a necessary component in any one of them. Worship to God only requires a mediator between us who is Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5) but even if it did require a priest and an altar, Jesus is our priest (Hebrews 3:1, 4:14-15, 5:5, 6:20, 7:15-17, 7:21-24, 7:26, all of chapter 8, just all of the book of Hebrews really) and the cross is our altar to which I can kneel, repent and be healed (1 Peter 2:24)
Keep in mind I'm not a "Protestant," I'm a Christian. I'm not Catholic either because Catholics aren't Christians. The sad truth is that the early Catholic church used to be awesome but slowly over time it drifted until Luther's time when it preached something very contrary to the gospel and that led to the Protestant Reformation. Genuine Christians have been stuck being attacked from all sides. We've been attacked in the OT and the NT, by worldly people and by wolves in sheep's clothing. But we have a comfort: “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."

And *PURGATORY is VERY BIBLICAL:* This is why ONLY the Catholic Church can interpret Scriptures into it's proper contexts.
----- Purgatory is NOT a Catholic Teaching: It came from the Old Testament according to the Jews:
------ Here are some examples of ritual prayer and penitent mourning for the dead for specific periods of time. The Jewish understanding of these practices was that the prayers freed the souls from their painful state of purification, and expedited their journey to God.
    Genesis 50:10
    New King James Version
10 Then they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and *they mourned there with a great and very solemn lamentation.* *He observed seven days of mourning for his father.*
    Numbers 20:29
    New International Version
29 and when the whole community learned that *Aaron had died, all the Israelites mourned for him thirty days.*
    Deuteronomy 34:8
    New International Version
8 *The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.*
------ Baruch asks the Lord to hear the prayers of the dead of Israel. Prayers for the dead are unnecessary in heaven and unnecessary in hell. These dead are in purgatory.
    Baruch 3:4
    Good News Translation
4 O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, hear our prayer. *We are no better off than the dead.* *Our ancestors sinned against you, the Lord their God.* *They refused to obey you, and we are suffering the consequences of their sin.*
------- God, through the blood of His covenant, will set those free from the waterless pit, a spiritual abode of suffering which the Church calls purgatory.
    Zechariah 9:11
    Lexham English Bible
11 As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant,
*I will release your prisoners from the waterless pit.*
------ The prayers for the dead help free them from sin and help them to the reward of heaven. Those in heaven have no sin, and those in hell can no longer be freed from sin. They are in purgatory. Luther was particularly troubled with these verses because he rejected the age-old teaching of purgatory. As a result, he removed Maccabees from the canon of the Bible.
    2 Maccabees 12:43-45
    Good News Translation
43 *He also took up a collection from all his men, totaling about four pounds of silver, and sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering.* *Judas did this noble thing because he believed in the resurrection of the dead.*
44 *If he had not believed that the dead would be raised, it would have been foolish and useless to pray for them.*
45 In his firm and devout conviction that all of God's faithful people would receive a wonderful reward, *Judas made provision for a sin offering to set free from their sin those who had died.*
------ when the Master comes (at the end of time), some will receive light or heavy beatings but will live. This state is not heaven or hell, because in heaven there are no beatings, and in hell we will no longer live with the Master
    Luke 12:47-48
    International Standard Version
47 *That servant who knew what his master wanted but didn’t prepare himself or do what was wanted will receive a severe beating.*
48 But *the servant who did things that deserved a beating without knowing it will receive a light beating.* Much will be required from everyone to whom much has been given. But even more will be demanded from the one to whom much has been entrusted.”
------- in this story, we see that the dead rich man is suffering but still feels compassion for his brothers and wants to warn them of his place of suffering. But there is no suffering in heaven or compassion in hell because compassion is a grace from God and those in hell are deprived from God's graces for all eternity. So where is the rich man? He is in purgatory.
    Luke 16:19-31
    International Standard Version
    The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “Once there was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen and live in great luxury every day.
20 A beggar named Lazarus, who was covered with sores, was brought to his gate.
21 He was always trying to satisfy his hunger with what fell[a] from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs used to come and lick his sores.
22 “One day, the beggar died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 In the afterlife, where he was in constant torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus by his side.
24 So he shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me! Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool off my tongue, because I am suffering in this fire.’
25 “But Abraham said, ‘My child, remember that during your lifetime you received blessings,[ while Lazarus received hardships.[d] But now he is being comforted here, while you suffer.
26 Besides all this, a wide chasm has been fixed between us, so that those who want to cross from this side to you cannot do so, nor can they cross from your side to us.’
27 “The rich mansaid, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house-
28 because I have five brothers-to warn them, so that they won’t end up in this place of torture, too.’
29 “Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets. They should listen to them!’
30 “But the rich man[g] replied, ‘No, father Abraham! But if someone from the dead went to them, they would repent.’
31 “Then Abraham[h] told him, ‘If your brothers[i] do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even if someone were to rise from the dead.’”
------ every knee bends to Jesus, in heaven, on earth, and "under the earth" which is the realm of the righteous dead, or purgatory.
    Philippians 2:10
    Lexham English Bible
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth and of *those under the earth,*
------- works are judged after death and tested by fire. Some works are lost, but the person is still saved. Paul is referring to the state of purgation called purgatory. The venial sins (bad works) that were committed are burned up after death, but the person is still brought to salvation. This state after death cannot be heaven (no one with venial sins is present) or hell (there is no forgiveness and salvation).
    1 Corinthians 3:10-15
    Lexham English Bible
10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building upon it. But each one must direct his attention to how he is building upon it.
11 For no one is able to lay another foundation than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, grass, straw,
13 the work of each one will become evident. *For the day will reveal it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the work of each one, of what sort it is.*
14 *If anyone’s work that he has built upon it remains, he will receive a reward.*
15 *If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but so as through fire.*
------ for gold is tested in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.
    Sirach 2:5
    Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
5 *For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.*
------- when Paul writes about God revealing the quality of each man's work by fire and purifying him, this purification relates to his sins (not just his good works). Protestants, in attempting to disprove the reality of purgatory, argue that Paul was only writing about rewarding good works, and not punishing sins (because punishing and purifying a man from sins would be admitting that there is a purgatory).
    1 Corinthians 3:13
    Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
13 *Every man's work shall be manifest; for the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is.*
------ the dead are disciplined and tested by fire to receive their heavenly reward. This is the fire of purgatory.
    Wisdom 3:5-6
    Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
5 Afflicted in few things, in many they shall be well rewarded: because God hath tried them, and found them worthy of himself.
6 *As gold in the furnace he hath proved them, and as a victim of a holocaust he hath received them, and in time there shall be respect had to them.*

Unless Jesus is revealed to you directly by God (Matthew 16:17) you will remain under the bondage of man-made religion. Catholicism mixes old testament Mosaic law with the new covenant under Christ so they can keep practicing their religious traditions. This is why Jesus angrily called the Pharisees YOU SNAKES! They valued their laws/traditions more than a personal relationship with Christ.

The Error of the Protestant Lie:
"But as for the cowardly and unbelieving, and abominable and murderers, and fornicators and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their portion shall be in the pool that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Revelation 21:8, ignored by all liars. See Rev 21:27 also.
It is a foregone conclusion that Jesus Christ founded only one Church.
    1) Why then, do Protestants ignore this fact and continue to splinter the Body of Christ?
    2) There is no Protestant who can trace his or her church back any farther than the Protestant revolt of the early 16th century.
Where is the verse which authorized them to break from the true Church in the first place?
    3) No Protestant can show that their church was founded by Jesus Christ, yet Scripture says there is only one Church, the one founded by GOD (Psalms 127:1, Matthew 16:18).
    4) They deny that the Catholic Church is the Church which Jesus Christ founded, yet they cannot name the Church which He did found in its stead. Isn't it strange that Scripture has said that GOD's Church will last forever (Isaiah 2:2,59:21, Matthew 28:20, Ephesians 3:21), and yet Protestants refuse to name it? If Scripture can be believed at all, why then do they refuse to name GOD's one and only Church?
    5) They cannot name the person who founded the Catholic Church while at the same time they deny that it was Jesus Christ. That is strange also, since every Church on earth was founded by a person with a name. Every single one of the tens of thousands of Protestant sects can be traced back to a human person with a name, as its founder. Why is it that Protestants refuse to name the founder of the Catholic Church?
Isn't that the epitome of arrogance as I touched upon in a previous segment?
    6) Why do Protestants spread the lie that the Catholic Church apostatized soon after the last Apostle died, and therefore the Church of today is not the one that Jesus Christ founded?
This lie flies in the face of Matthew 16:18, as Protestants must then have to admit that the 'gates of hell' did indeed prevail, that the Bible was in error, and that all of the verses I have previously listed that promise the perpetualty of Christ's Church must be in error as well. This so-called "great apostasy" lie is then magnified a hundredfold since no Protestant can produce genuine historical documents which record such a "monumental, universe shaking event". Every writer who was alive at the time had to have witnessed that supposed "profound event", and those who have lived ever since (up until the time that the lie was invented by Protestantism), did not write about it either. What with the "greatest event since the crucifixion" at hand, why didn't they? It is because it never happened, that's why. Simply put, "No lie is of the truth", 1John @, so therefore no lie can be proven.
Scripture does say that people within Christ's Church will apostatize, but not the Church itself. For you see, it is impossible, since Christ is the Head, and the Church is His Body.
How could the Body of Christ rebel against, and leave His Head? They are inseparable forever.
"Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior." Ephesians 5:22-23
Okay Protestants, explain those verses? Is Christ really the Savior of His Body, or did He desert it as Protestantism would have us believe? Is Holy Scripture in error yet again according to Protestant false charges?
Are we to believe the Protestant lie, or the truth of the Word of GOD?
Do you recall the story of the wheat and the chaff, where the weeds will co-exist with the righteous up until the very end, and then they will be separated out and burned (Matthew 13:24-30)?
"For, in the first place, when you assemble as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it, for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized." 1Corinthians 11:18-19.
From those two verses we have a perfect example of the apostasy of individuals within the Church, those who cause divisions and factions. Now from what I have shown in many places in this writing, just who is the cause of divisions and factions? It is none other than Protestantism. Protestantism has already created over 36,000 divisions and factions, and which number is still increasing unceasingly every week to this very day.
Who are the 'genuine among you'?
They are the faithful of the one and only Church that Jesus Christ founded and which is still with us after almost 2000 years of persecution. Read Acts 5:38-39 for the reason why this longevity.
For those who continue to spread the lie of the so-called, and non-existent, "great apostasy", please re-read Revelation 21:8, and endeavor to explain Ephesians 5:23-24?
    7) How many verses have I shown in this writing that Protestants ignore? Isn't it a lie to say that you follow Scripture literally to the word, and yet ignore so many Scriptural verses?
    8) Why do Protestants take the whole Bible literally except for John chapter 6, which they call symbolic? One chapter in the whole Bible is symbolic? How can that be true?
    9) How can Protestants say that Sola Scriptura has been in use from day one, when for over 1400 years almost no one had a Bible, and even if they did, the great majority of the masses were illiterate anyhow?
    10) Since Protestants believe that "all Scripture is inspired (2Tim @)", then why aren't the gospels of Peter, Philip, Nicodemus, Bartholomew, Andrew, Thomas, etc, in their Bible?
    11) Where in Holy Scripture did Jesus give instructions that the Christian faith is to be solely based on a book? How about the same question except for using the Apostles instead of Jesus?
    12) Why do Protestants say it is the Bible which is the pillar and foundation of truth when the Bible clearly says it is the Church (1Tim @)? Please give me the name of that Church?
    13) Why do Protestants reject Apostolic Tradition when the Bible clearly says, "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold the teachings that you have learned, whether by word or by letter of ours."
2Thessalonians @, yet another verse ignored, and taught against by Protestantism.
    14) Why do Protestants deny that the Bible came from the Catholic Church when they cannot name a truthful and provable alternate source, and where there are literally hundreds of genuine historical documents which prove them to be wrong in their denial?
    15) Protestants deny that Peter was given primacy in Matthew 16:18. Nothing in Scripture is done without a purpose. For what purpose then, did Jesus change Simon's name to Peter?
    16) Why do Protestants deny that the Papacy is Scriptural, when in fact, it is very Scriptural?
    17) Why is it that Protestants can never supply genuine historical documents to "prove" their false charges? Is it because the lie can never be proven, but the truth can be?
It is simple, if you have no truth, then you have no proof.
Catholics can, and do, supply genuine historical documents to prove what they teach.
Why then do Protestants refuse to read them? Romans 1:18, 2:8
    18) Why do Protestants deny the unbroken line of succession of Popes down through the centuries from St. Peter to the present Pope, when the Catholic Church has given free access for anyone to research genuine historical documents to prove it to be true, but Protestants refuse to read them? Anyone can go to a secular encyclopedia and see the same succession of Popes.
    19) Why do Protestants deny that the Catholic Church has existed from the first century, when hundreds of genuine historical documents, written by scores of Holy men and women, are freely available to prove them wrong in their denial? However, Protestants simply refuse to read them. As explained earlier, Protestants teach that history ended with Acts 28:30 and did not begin again until Luther came along.
    20) I saved the worst Protestant lie as the last one on this list. When asked who founded the Catholic Church, there are some who answer correctly that it is Jesus Christ who founded it, but they quickly add that the Catholic Church fell into apostasy and is not the same Church today as the one founded by Jesus. Of course they have no documented proof of this world shaking event as to the who caused it and when and where it happened. By making this false charge they may have condemned themselves because they have just called Jesus Christ a liar. You see there are verses in Holy Scripture which they either choose to ignore or do not understand, and the verses show that Jesus in fact did promise that His Church would last for all time and so did St Paul:😢

      @@stevenknapp2850 Call no man teacher.
Third, a careful examination of the context of Matthew 23 shows that Jesus didn’t intend for his words here to be understood literally. The whole passage reads, "But you are not to be called ‘rabbi,’ for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called ‘masters,’ for you have one master, the Christ" (Matt. 23:8-10).
The first problem is that although Jesus seems to prohibit the use of the term "teacher," in Matthew 28:19-20, Christ himself appointed certain men to be teachers in his Church: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Paul speaks of his commission as a teacher: "For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle . . . a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth" (1 Tim. 2:7); "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher" (2 Tim. 1:11). He also reminds us that the Church has an office of teacher: "God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers" (1 Cor. 12:28); and "his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers" (Eph. 4:11). There is no doubt that Paul was not violating Christ’s teaching in Matthew 23 by referring so often to others as "teachers."
Fundamentalists themselves slip up on this point by calling all sorts of people "doctor," for example, medical doctors, as well as professors and scientists who have Ph.D. degrees (i.e., doctorates). What they fail to realize is that "doctor" is simply the Latin word for "teacher." Even "Mister" and "Mistress" ("Mrs.") are forms of the word "master," also mentioned by Jesus. So if his words in Matthew 23 were meant to be taken literally, Fundamentalists would be just as guilty for using the word "teacher" and "doctor" and "mister" as Catholics for saying "father." But clearly, that would be a misunderstanding of Christ’s words.
i.) If you look at Matthew 23: 1-24, it is obviously the overall thrust of the passage is about assuming positions of authority in the Church to aggrandize one's self or stroke one's ego (the scribes and Pharisees occupying "Moses's seat" and then expecting people to call them "Rabbi", "Father", etc but doing nothing to "lift a finger" to alleviate the burden they bind on people's consciences / the obligations they impose. It is a discourse on SERVANT leadership ("The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many") NOT a fastidious rant about religious forms of address or ecclesiastic titles.
ii.) IF the typical Protestant interpretation of Matthew 23: 9 is correct, then it makes St. Paul a sinner and invalidates the divine inspiration of his epistles,
"I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I BECAME YOUR FATHER IN CHRIST JESUS through the gospel. Therefore, I urge you, be imitators of me."
      cf. I Corinthians 4: 14-16
Obviously St. Paul is not referring to biological paternity, but a spiritual one "through the Gospel". By preaching the Gospel to the Corinthians in his ministry, he became a FATHER to them, by their becoming "beloved children" of God. Besides this passage, Ephesians 3: 14-15 is also good,
"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom ALL FATHERHOOD in heaven and on earth is named,...".
In other words, human 'fatherhood' (whether biological or spiritual) PARTICIPATES IN God's Fatherhood. At Matthew 23: 9, Jesus Christ is admonishing the scribes and Pharisees who had gotten such an inflated sense of ego that they believed, because they sat on "Moses's seat" deciding matters by interpreting Tanakh / the "Old Testament" and applying it to specific cases brought to them by the People of God, that they were CHANGING clear prescriptions laid down in Torah (e. g. setting aside the commandment to 'Honor father and mother" by a child claiming the support they were obligated to give to their parents they would give to "God" because they decided it was a higher purpose, etc) and substituting their man made rules, AS IF they themselves were the "Father" / YHWH.
The passage is not about a literalist use of a title or form of address ("father") but about servant leadership. And when their fastidious Protestant interpretation so OBVIOUSLY contradicts I Corinthians 4: 14-16 where the Apostles St. Paul calls himself "father" by analogy to those to whom he preached the Gospel, you can be sure their interpretation is wrong because it sets two separate passages of divinely inspired sacred Scripture at odds with one another🤣

The pagans would call upon the name of their gods over and over until they got the god to respond. And speaking of SALVATION: We hope for Salvation: It is NOT guaranteed like Protestants FALSELY BELIEVED: Just because Jesus died on the Cross for our sins don't mean that your sins are forgiven right away so that you can keep on sinning until you die.
    1 Corinthians 3:15
    English Standard Version
15 If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though *he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.*
------ if works are unnecessary for salvation as many Protestants believe, then why is a man saved (not just rewarded) through fire by a judgment of his works?
    Matthew 10:22
    English Standard Version
22 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. *But the one who endures to the end will be saved.*
    Matthew 24:13
    English Standard Version
13 *But the one who endures to the end will be saved.*
    Mark 13:13
    English Standard Version
13 And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. *But the one who endures to the end will be saved.*
------ Jesus taught that we must endure to the very end to be saved. If this is true, then how can Protestants believe in the erroneous teaching of "Once saved, always saved?" If salvation occurred at a specific point in time when we accepted Jesus as personal Lord and Savior, there would be no need to endure to the end. We would already be saved.
    Matthew 25:31-46
    English Standard Version
    The Final Judgment
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’
44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
------ Jesus' teaching on the separation of the sheep from the goats is based on the works that were done during their lives, not just on their acceptance of Christ as Savior. In fact, this teaching even demonstrates that those who are ultimately saved do not necessarily have to know Christ. Also, we don’t accept Christ; He accepts us. God first makes the decision to accept us before we could ever accept Him.
    Luke 14:14
    English Standard Version
14 *and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you.* *For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”*
------ Jesus says we are repaid for the works we have done at the resurrection of the just. Our works lead to salvation.
    Hebrews 9:12
    English Standard Version
12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, *thus securing an eternal redemption.*
------- Christ's sacrifice secured our redemption, but redemption is not the same thing as salvation. We participate in and hope for salvation. Our hope in salvation is a guarantee if we are faithful to Christ to the end. But if we lose hope and fail to persevere, we can lose our salvation. Thus, by our own choosing (not by God's doing), salvation is not a certainty. While many Protestant churches believe in the theology of "once saved, always saved," such a novel theory is not found in Scripture and has never been taught by the Church.
    Romans 10:1
    English Standard Version
10 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they *may be saved.*
------- Paul prays that the Jews "may be saved." Why pray if it's guaranteed? Further, why pray unless you can mediate?
    Romans 8:24
    English Standard Version
24 *For in this hope we were saved.* Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?
------- this "hope" of salvation that Paul writes about is unnecessary if salvation is guaranteed. If salvation is assured, then why hope?
    Galatians 5:5
    English Standard Version
5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves *eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.*
------- for through the Spirit by faith we wait for the "hope" (not the certainty) of righteousness.
    Philippians 3:11
    New King James Version
11 if, by any means, *I may attain* to the resurrection from the dead.
------ Paul shares Christ's sufferings so that "if possible" he may attain resurrection. Paul does not view his own resurrection as a certainty.
    Colossians 1:5
    Lexham English Bible
5 because *of the hope reserved for you in heaven,* which you have heard about beforehand in the word of truth, the gospel,
------ Paul refers to the "hope" (not guarantee) that Christ laid up for us in heaven.
    1 Thessalonians 5:8
    Lexham English Bible
8 But because[a] we are of the day, we must be sober, by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet *the hope of salvation,*
------- we must put on the helmet of "hope" (not of certainty) of salvation.
    2 Thessalonians 2:16
    Lexham English Bible
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and *good hope by grace,*
------ the Lord Jesus and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good "hope" through grace.
    Titus 1:2
    Lexham English Bible
2 *in the hope of eternal life* which God, who does not lie, promised before eternal ages,
------- Paul says that he is in the "hope" (not the certainty) of eternal life. Paul knows that his hope is a guarantee if he perseveres, but his ability to choose sin over God makes his attainment of eternal life less than an absolute certainty until it is actually achieved.

Mary is prayed to according to CCC 2679; she sits at the right hand of Christ (Pope Pius X, 1835-1914, Ad Diem Illum Laetissimum, 14); is Advocate, Helper, (CCC 969); the mother of the members of Christ (CCC 963); Queen over all things (CCC 966); brings eternal life by her intercession (CCC 969) and the list goes on.
Lastly, your CCC teaches that the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day,” (CCC 841).

@@AvaNoe (Catechism teaches one can become a god: CCC 460) This does sound very interesting but in context it is talking about the nature of Christ. It states that, because Christ becaem man, he made the nature of man and the nature of God the same. NOT you and me as individuals but our nature. Also that quote which you stated which is in the CCC is by St. Thomas Aquinas and he meant it in the context which i have laid out.
(About Mary) Everything you said right there is true and I do not deny it. But notice NOWHERE in the CCC does it say that we "worship" her. That is one fo the things Protestants misunderstand about Catholics. We do not worship her but Venerate her. "she sits at the right hand of Christ" This statement does not place her at the level of God in anyway but shows that Christ puts her in a honorable position. "The Mother of the Members of Christ" We Clearly see that Christ makes her the mother of the whole Church when Jesus is on the Cross. "When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, her said to his mother,'Woman, behold your son!' Then he said to the disciple, 'Behold, your mother!'..." (John 19:26-27). When Jesus said that He was making Mary the mother of the entire Church and putting the Church members in her care.
(About the Muslims) I dont knwo enough about this topic so I cant say much. I do know though that if a person lives a good and holy life to the best of their abilities that Christ may have mercy on them. but again we really cannot say whether someone will either go to heaven or hell.
