Also, if u put Bolt’s self when he broke the record and Blake in this race, in the same race, Blake would’ve forced Bolt to run a little faster which would’ve made the WR even faster.
*Yohan* insatiable appetite of over training cost him his career success. After 2011 he began to transform himself literally into a *Bodybuilder* instead of a sprinter. By 2013 he had gotten so top heavy, his tiny legs couldn't carry his speed anymore and thus he suffered two hamstring and tendon injuries that forever robbed him of the *King of Sprinters* title. I've been a fan since his *St. Jago high school* days.... It's so painful to see him struggle nowadays.😭🇯🇲💯
That's an interesting theory because I also have been following him from Jago days. He and Bolt were the only high school stars that actually made it pro successfully and when he beat Usain at the national trials everyone was singing his praises, some were in shock others were saying that it was because he took training seriously while Bolt didn't and it was started to pay off. The same thing they said in Bolt's early career but in truth Bolt was coming off an injury and Blake hit his peak for that season. Notice that he didn't win neither the 100 or 200 at the world championships? Timing in history has alot to do with one's success. Similarly to KD, no matter how great he is he'll never be seen above LeBron. There are levels to everything in life and its not for a lack of effort
The name “the beast” is what really killed his career. He tried to correct this error on his part but the injuries was too much, and still is. it’s the same heavy top effect that killed Powell.
I find it amazing that no one has questioned the accuracy of the times on this race!! Especially as Walter Dix ran a massive PB of 19.53 and he also slowed down before reaching the finishing line.
Hmm I never thought about and I also sorta had it in the back of my mind that they weren’t going that fast. Although at the very least you can’t really say yohan was tying up. That last 100 was pretty smooth. Also can’t people time it again by re watching the video ?
I have been watching Blake’s performance from Jamaica Girls & Boys champs days always impressive as to be , must be, because that is where all the best young school boys athletes were being displayed on a National Stage .. Blake lots of respect.thanks for breaking down that particular Race . Truly appreciate it.
I remember many cried out that the timing was faulty.People forget he's the fastest man in history into a negative wind over 100m at 9.69 and 2nd fastest man in history over 100m.With perfect maximum legal wind of 2.0mps , you have a 9.58 under the wind conversion calculator.
Thank you very much for this break down. I know Yohan Blake was something special from St Jago days, competing against him in Boys and Girls Champs. This guy was so spectacular they had him running 400meters and his times was blistering. I don't recall him losing a single race.
I've liked him ever since 2012, that year completely made me fall for him. He is my most fav athlete since then and Usain is my 2nd, I'm happy for both of them ♡

The thing which is underrated and helped him a lot here is his low center of gravity which makes him the best in running at curves....see the 2012 london relay final youll see it perfectly there

I always said that Blake was a rare talent that even Bolt could not rival. There is no doubt that Bolt's longer stride was in his favour but the level of pushing personal physical boundaries that are a limit, which must be pushed to their utmost, that was done by Blake.

Fact: Blake is the fastest man of all time over 200 meters It is merely the format of how we organise modern athletics that prevents him from being officially recognised as such
It’s fair enough theorising about the reaction time but it would not be fair to not mention that Bolt was tired before his WR. He also never paced himself correctly so his 19.19 could have been much faster, Blake alike.

Track, and field was totally changed when track, and field was changed from yards to meters, and during and before the change it was said no one could come out of the blocks faster than .02 seconds.
You're a tad late, he was amazing 2010-2012 or so, maybe a bit longer (can't remember), but he got injured, so he went from running 9.69 100m to mostly 9.9s (still super impressive after injury).
You are discounting that the faster reaction time does not necessarily mean the 2nd 100 meters would be the same. So, you cannot put, this great start with this great finish. The race is the race in total.
I agree and I hate when people come up with the "ifs". If Usain Bolt had a fast start, if he gave 100% in every race and if he had a great technique he could've done better. But that's it, "if". Bolt ran 9.69 with a bad start and stopped accelerating in the last 30 meters of the race while pounding on his chest and with one shoelace all over the place. If people would count all the "ifs" we would have a never-ending debate. About the last 100mt, I agree, if he had a better start maybe he wouldn't push as much as he did, who knows?
Great video bro, very well researched, I appreciate you taking the time to provide the technical breakdown.. I’m Jamaican I have seen booth of them run from high scho9l level..yohan is super super gifted,
I think Blake would easily win the Crossfit games because he’s super athletic and strong. Those Crossfit guys who win are claimed to be the “fittest on earth” but I think Blake is fitter, even by their definition of “fit”.
Justin Mora definitely not. blake has a body specifically for sprinting, doing any other form training not geared for speed would not allow him to be the athlete sprinter he is.as much as i dislike crossfit for various reasons, blake would not be able to win in so many events within a crossfit games.
Right. All you need is bananas and 1000 chicken nuggets helped Usain and Yohan be 1 & 2. I ought to go to Germany in the off season and enjoy my bananas with the boys Ben, Tyson and the legendary Lance.
I was present at this race. I was truly baffled by this performance, most people in the stands where I was seemed to not realize how crazy his time was.
It's interesting as the same thing happened to Michael Johnson in Atlanta when he set the WR at 19.32. He too had an absolutely terrible reaction time coming out of the blocks. I believe he said fear of not being on the podium in his home country motivated him. He was willing to have his hamstring come off the bone at that point. Yikes! Indeed, he immediately large ice packs on during his "victory lap". I've been trying to find that interview to confirm the statement.
Blake literally could've beaten Bolt's 200m WR if he just had a decent reaction time of `0.15s. He could've hit a 19.17-16 even though the wind wasn't perfect. Incredible performance.
You can't just say that if he had gotten a better reaction time he would have broken the world record because eventhough that's true on paper you never know what could have happened if he had gotten a better reaction time. Maybe he would have gotten the lead earlier in the race which could have perhaps caused hin to tense up and slow down later you don't know

'Clearly' ? serious? where do you see that 'clearly? ' :-D
Also, if u put Bolt’s self when he broke the record and Blake in this race, in the same race, Blake would’ve forced Bolt to run a little faster which would’ve made the WR even faster.
@@clintondouglas656 exactly
You can't just go faster than your maximum speed lmao.
@Adapt do u even understand sprinting u can be going at what seems to be ur maximum n suddenly u get a adrenaline rush n goo super faster
Lyle’s 19.50 second 200 had a last 100m time of 9.3, he should be 5th on that list
9.3 no one has done that not even Bolt
Te-Jean Gordon we’re talking about 200m split times, multiple people have broken 9.3 for the last 100m of the 200m
Aww he was taking it easy the first half.
(Jk)
@@Monsterup-ye8cr That's because in case you havent realized, for the second 100m of a 200m, you do happen to get a running start
Te-Jean Gordon : Bolt ran the final 100m of his 200m world record in 9.27 seconds it is listed in
the video !!!
The best 200m analysis I've ever watched
*Yohan* insatiable appetite of over training cost him his career success. After 2011 he began to transform himself literally into a *Bodybuilder* instead of a sprinter. By 2013 he had gotten so top heavy, his tiny legs couldn't carry his speed anymore and thus he suffered two hamstring and tendon injuries that forever robbed him of the *King of Sprinters* title. I've been a fan since his *St. Jago high school* days.... It's so painful to see him struggle nowadays.😭🇯🇲💯
Well that's a "theory" anyhow, I find it annoying when people state their theories as unquestioned facts. His upper body injured his lower body?
Yohan Blake suppose to easily be the next king of the 100 and 200 when Usain bolt retire the injuries rob him.
Thought I was the only one to notice his weight & top heavy build seem to have worked against him.
The name “the beast” is what really killed his career. He tried to correct this error on his part but the injuries was too much, and still is. it’s the same heavy top effect that killed Powell.
Love you channel! Track and field deserves so much more hype than it gets. No other sport showcases raw strength, speed and power as well.
That was really interesting, thank you. Blake is an awesome athelete, he just peaked at the same time as Bolt did.
I find it amazing that no one has questioned the accuracy of the times on this race!! Especially as Walter Dix ran a massive PB of 19.53 and he also slowed down before reaching the finishing line.
Same thought. Something looks off about that time. They don’t even look like they were going that fast compared to bolts world record time.
Totally agreed. That was the first thought of me after seeing Dix and Blake ran their pb s at the same race.
It was probably the track/altitude like in Eugene, OR.
Hmm I never thought about and I also sorta had it in the back of my mind that they weren’t going that fast. Although at the very least you can’t really say yohan was tying up. That last 100 was pretty smooth. Also can’t people time it again by re watching the video ?
With bolt disqualified from the race that changed his subconscious into its mine babyyyyyyyyyyy
Amazing, thank you so much, never thought this....
Very nice decomposition of the race! Thank you.
Love the consistency on video uploading
I've liked him ever since 2012, that year completely made me fall for him. He is my most fav athlete since then and Usain is my 2nd, I'm happy for both of them ♡
It was his time to shine⭐✨💜
I love you Yohan! You made your country proud forever!
Such a shame about the injuries, Blake needs more recognition considering he is the 2nd greatest sprinter of all time.
I completely disagree with your Blake being the 2nd greatest sprinter of all time. 2nd fastest sure but 2nd best sprinter of all time? Hell no
Darak Eaddy what you said makes no sense . Is he is the 2nd fastest in both 100m and 200m then he is the 2nd best of all time. There is literally no one else
@@---jb2sb that’s not how it works in sprinting. Running a fast time once doesn’t mean much. That’s like saying having a 60pt game once will make you 2nd to MJ only
This was an AMAZING watch! BRAVO!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It's crazy to think that if you take out reaction time, Blake is the only runner to actually travel 200m in under 19 seconds...
So if you change to rules to suit him, your the Michael Owen of athletics, if that team would of scored more they would of won 🤦🏽♂️
@@jermaineallert7261 He's not talking about changing rules, he's talking about the fastest time that 200 meters has been covered from when the athlete starts moving. Yohan is the only human being in history to move 200 meters while running in 19 seconds, that's just a fact. Not talking about him being the WR holder or something.
The thing which is underrated and helped him a lot here is his low center of gravity which makes him the best in running at curves....see the 2012 london relay final youll see it perfectly there
"fastest ever 200 without reaction time 18.99" "fastest ever second 100 9.12" Two words. *HOLY SHIT*
@Robert Doyle irrelevant? To his final time yes, but those times are both the fastest 2nd 100m and non reaction timed 200m in history. That's huge
Painted Smite not really huge because no one cares about those records 😂😂
When they talked about his 2nd 100 I thought they were just going to say it was faster than Bolt's 2nd 100. I didn't know it was going to be faster than MJs, MJs 2nd 100 was absolutely insane, Blake was a beast!
Blake is phenomenal👍⭐. Still recall the 4×100metres final in London Olympics. The 3rd leg he ran gave Jamaica the Gold medal. The beast in him came out. He went all out for his country in that race. Like BMW 7series. Anytime I watch it, I have goosebumps. Great man, I admire.
This video defines the two words used in almost every huge sporting event “ If only”
Excellent video! You're the GOAT of sprinting analysis. 👍👍.
Dude, wtf do you get your ideas from?
Quality content 👌🏼
I always said that Blake was a rare talent that even Bolt could not rival. There is no doubt that Bolt's longer stride was in his favour but the level of pushing personal physical boundaries that are a limit, which must be pushed to their utmost, that was done by Blake.
Agree 100%
These guys are amazing athletes
fame. freqency
Of course these are all 'what if' scenarios. But one thing is that the perspective makes us look at Yohan differently. Thank you for the analogy.
Been saying it since back when Bolt was hot. I kept saying it; look out for Yohan Blake. This kid is just impressive.
This is unreal! Maybe for the simple people like us , the history of sprinting could easy understanding after this magnificent interpretation. Thank you !!!
Fact: Blake is the fastest man of all time over 200 meters
It is merely the format of how we organise modern athletics that prevents him from being officially recognised as such
I love your channel. You put together something truly interesting and moving right here.
It Blake had a good start I find it highly unlikely he would’ve performed the way he did for the rest of the race...
true, also take into account, most occasions bolt tends to slow down once he's in the lead, blake in that 4 by 100 relay was truly incredible
It’s fair enough theorising about the reaction time but it would not be fair to not mention that Bolt was tired before his WR. He also never paced himself correctly so his 19.19 could have been much faster, Blake alike.
Yep that feat was a 19. 03 fresh
Not to mention the wind difference
the difference is that blake had mostly good reaction times bolt never paced himself
Zulqarnayn Nadal bolt ran hella races before and had a head wind not a tail wind
@Zulqarnayn Nadal lmao. YOU just have to stop making excuses! If we apply your logic and this stupid video's logic to bolt then bolt wouldve ran an even faster time! Crackhead!
Bolt and Blake both are legends. Respect
People really slept on that 200m ✍🏾
In the 4x100 race, when Blake was the third leg, he tore everyone up! He’s so underrated and incredibly fast💪🏾💪🏾
Deserve a subscribe for this video well done 👍🏾 🇯🇲💯
Blake and Bolt pushed each other to new levels. And the way they talk about each other in I AM BOLT is very respectful.
Well, Bolt do be dangling around in the final 100m of his races. Yes, even the world records. So...
Always wanted an analysis of this race. Thanks 🙏
Didn't run a great bend either! Stunning run!!
I absolutely positively love that video great explanation of the breakdown
2nd greatest runner in sprinting
No.....
@@pervyboy69 yes
Not even in the the top 10 ever.
@@jideajibola5074 Lol what? He has the 2nd best 100m and 200m time. Tyson Gay has the 2nd best 100m (tied with Blake), but like 6th or something (I forget) 200m so I'd say Blake is officially the 2nd best sprinter in history. MJ probably 3rd as he's 3rd in 200, 2nd in 400. Then Tyson Gay, etc, etc.
@@jideajibola5074 Dude, were you watching top 50 rock guitarists video or something ??? LOL bloody hell, I'm still laughing.... :-D
a very well put together video. Thanks TRP
Last time I was this early for a TRP video Jesse Owens was getting it done in Berlin. :)
excellent video again . You're very good at what you do .
Track, and field was totally changed when track, and field was changed from yards to meters, and during and before the change it was said no one could come out of the blocks faster than .02 seconds.
Love this channel!!
Ngl I wish Blake got the 200m world record, so that he’d get more recognition.
Only people who don't really follow track and field sleep on blake he ran the second fastest 200 meter and 100 meters the man gets his respect
Chad Hamilton yeah but remember a lot of people are just casual runners or casual fans
It's my first time hearing about Blake and I'm so amazed! The video title says it all!
bruh what?
You can’t be serious
Wow amazing breakdown bro, very good.
walter dix push him, it is a feel that only sprinter can taste when somebody is running side to side
Great video bro, very well researched, I appreciate you taking the time to provide the technical breakdown.. I’m Jamaican I have seen booth of them run from high scho9l level..yohan is super super gifted,
Yohan Blake has the most fast twitch muscle fibres out of any sprinter in history
Great work man
I think Blake would easily win the Crossfit games because he’s super athletic and strong.
Really underrated young man
Eating 16 ripe bananas every day helped Yohan Blake become the second fastest human in history!
Right. All you need is bananas and 1000 chicken nuggets helped Usain and Yohan be 1 & 2. I ought to go to Germany in the off season and enjoy my bananas with the boys Ben, Tyson and the legendary Lance.
TheRealBrayo are you a track sprinter too?
I was present at this race. I was truly baffled by this performance, most people in the stands where I was seemed to not realize how crazy his time was.
“IF we take away reaction times”- too many hypotheticals in this video-not saying it’s a bad video I liked it
I never forgot this race...amazing
It's interesting as the same thing happened to Michael Johnson in Atlanta when he set the WR at 19.32. He too had an absolutely terrible reaction time coming out of the blocks. I believe he said fear of not being on the podium in his home country motivated him. He was willing to have his hamstring come off the bone at that point. Yikes! Indeed, he immediately large ice packs on during his "victory lap". I've been trying to find that interview to confirm the statement.
I recall reading an article he wrote describing how he stuttered coming out of the blocks, and wondering what if?
"...but at the top of Mt. Sprintmore..." love that line
Blake literally could've beaten Bolt's 200m WR if he just had a decent reaction time of `0.15s. He could've hit a 19.17-16 even though the wind wasn't perfect. Incredible performance.
Stop the madness dont let a video pull the wool over your eyes if if didn't happen want happen
Chad Hamilton what are you on about mate?
Great video!
We all know that Usain would have been motivated by this time to go even faster 🤷♂️
omg this open my eyes this man is one of the best of all time
You can't just say that if he had gotten a better reaction time he would have broken the world record because eventhough that's true on paper you never know what could have happened if he had gotten a better reaction time. Maybe he would have gotten the lead earlier in the race which could have perhaps caused hin to tense up and slow down later you don't know
Reaction time has nothing to do with an athletes speed endurance.
@@TheFlash3237 The point is he did not get a better reaction time, so the rest is theoretical.
Yes he was a great sprinter. Good video man!!!
fun fact: under 100 ms reaction time is disqualified
I didnt know this, why is that?
@@fabioccc8855 Because there is a limit to the reaction time a human can have. Under 100ms means, that you didn't react to the starting signal but rather took a guess for when the signal comes.
@Total Running Productions Experts calculated that bolt had run 19.12 in berlin if bolt had the same tailwind as yohan blake had in Lausanne.
Do you hear me? 19.12 had bolt run with blake's wind!
with bolt's start, blake had run something around 19.124 which they will round up to 19.13.
