I got all three and use all three. I use the Meater most of the time because I do you rotistary and it is the only one that works while cooking. All three probes fail is there is a stall during cooking for total time.

I'm using the meatstick/mini. They are really good

oh very cool! have you ever compared it to the Meater? they seem very similar.

@@ImpossiblyKosher I definitely considered the meater but I was really intrigued by the meatstick mini. I use those quite often for every day type cooking. I use the original for longer cooks/smokes etc. They both seem.to be solid products

I have a Meater, I found the set up and app to be cumbersome and inaccurate. After the mandatory account creation to use the app I had to contact Meater customer service to get them to stop sending me spam emails and texts. It loses connection with the app from as close as 20 feet away. It frequently shows "5 Minutes Remaining" on the app for 20 or 30 minutes or more.... I've tested it with an instant read thermometer when it hit a target temperature, and have found it to read warmer than what the meater thinks it is every time. I couldn't find a way to re-calibrate the Meater or change the settings in the app so that it was actually done when it said it would be done.
I purchased a Thermoworks Smoke and found the Temperature to be within 1 or 2 degrees every time i've tested it, the set up is easy, and the remote never loses signal. Set up is easier, there's no app to deal with, and the temperature calibration is more accurate out of the box. If it gets out of spec, there's a procedure to recalibrate.

Wow! I’m surprised! I’ve had 2 meaters saying different temps but nothing so bad. I do agree that Thermoworks probes and temps are much more accurate, which is actually my go to for day to day.

Great Video, *except* that in 3 places there is a rather loud, brief static-like noise that is quite unpleasant. Maybe it would be worth re-uploading the video? Anyway, thanks for the product comparison!

Meater+ is always off 10 degrees from my ThermoWorks gauges.

Really??? I’ve never noticed such a difference.
I love the convenience of the MEATER, but hate the thickness… so end up using my Thermoworks more often unless it’s a big thick piece of meat

@jhosoi808 lately I found that the MEATER probe has a little bit of a difficulty if it’s in a barbeque to send a signal out. I use ThermoWorks much more consistently and absolutely love it!

I’m about to throw away my Meater+s. I’ve had them for about a year and every cook has left me feeling frustrated, because they won’t stay connected for anything. I have 4. This morning I put two in the same piece of meat because of how unreliable they are, and straight off the bat one (with a new battery) failed to connect entirely. I had to replace it with another probe… I ordered a Signals and Billows about an hour ago. Paid for the two day shipping. Cooking on my grill and smoker should be relaxing and enjoyable, hopefully the Signals makes that possible.

    • @ImpossiblyKosher
      @ImpossiblyKosher  2 роки тому

Hi Richard, wow! it definitely sounds extremely frustrating...
You should reach out to Meater to let them know! maybe defective units. Also, what I do to extend the connectivity is I put an old iPhone or tablet near it and use it as a wifi bridge. works like a charm!
On the signals and billows, I honestly love them both. If you're using a Weber Kettle, you'll need to drill a 1" hole near the bottom of the kettle. DOnt make mistake I made where I was putting the billows on the top exhaust... lol

The Meater+ is not reliable. Plain and simple the Meater+ is beautiful, great concept, just not consistent.

@@madswinebbq what a shame… I’ve been using it for a while and personally love it.
Just for rotisserie alone is so convenient.
But on a big and $$$ piece of meat, maybe better to use 2, or Thermoworks…
      I do love the Thermoworks.
I started using the Venom on my Weber kettle, check that video out

I bought a ThermoWorks Smoke X4 last year. Right off the bat, 2 of the 4 probes died mid-cook. Got replacements from ThermoWorks and the original 2 working probes failed. It has been a perpetual loop of failing probes and I've never had 4 functioning probes at the same time since the Smoke X4 came out of the box. And these are wired probes, nothing fancy about them! And I'm cleaning them and storing them appropriately, and my grill/smoker has a probe port so they're not being pinched under the lid or subject to any stress like that. And I use them for smoking, so the temps are low and not exceeding factory max temp specifications. So, beware...the ThermoWorks probes are quite fragile and will fail routinely even when you care for them properly!

Wow! What an experience of bad luck. So sorry to hear that.
Personally the signals hasn’t let me down.
And their CSR is great. My unit stopped one day working on wifi and they helped me no questions asked.
