      @@TheBarbecueLab - I bought one because of your review and used it for the first time yesterday. I was BBQ'ing skin-on, bone-in chicken breasts (with ribs) that were pretty big, and much smaller skin-on, bone-in thighs. Both to different temps. I'd have been LOST without the Smoke 2-Channel. And the wireless remote worked flawlessly. Thanks again! Keep up the good work on reviews.

    I have a Weber I grill 3 which oddly enough gets no reviews anywhere. I really like it because it has four probes with a great app but offers no displays at all. that’s fine for me because I always have my phone with me anyway. I am looking for something for my dad though, who is not nearly as technical as me , so this should be great. Seems very simple and doesn’t need an app or website to check on. Great review though

      Is the 2 thermometer unit faster to transmit than the 4 thermometer unit? Thermoworks told me that the 4 probe has such a long distance that it only sends the temp to remote every 30 seconds. Is it the same on the 2 thermometer unit or faster? thanks

    This product is excellent. I'm banned from Amazon reviews for insulting garbage Chinese manufacturers constantly (lol) so I have to leave my feedback here.
    I bought this because the temp receiver on my smart grill is terribly broken. This can do a perfect steak, I'm happy with it. The remote temp recorder is an added benefit. I have it stashed in the living area so I can put food on then go watch TV.
    Mildly confusing at first to get started but I didn't bother with the manual lol.

    I have 2 probe Inkbird it is great, when it rained I just put it in pint plastic bag to shelter it never had problem can't beat it for the price. Ive had it for over a year it pairs to phone works great. I like the signals I believe it has setup similar to guru that collectively is cheaper and realiable. I like the smoke but I have to wear out the inkbird first.

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  4 роки тому

      When you put your inkbird in a plastic bag, do you seal it all the way or just leave it open? We've tried a couple of different ways, and found that just a plastic bag would let some water in sometimes unless we taped it shut. Inevitably, as soon as we taped it shut to make it rainproof, we needed to get in there for something. That's why we started using a little rubbermaid plastic bin to keep the plastic bag in. Always open to learning new ways!

      The Barbecue Lab I just stick it in bag dont seal it morr like umbrella the inkbird unit is small compared to smoke. Used it several times and was really amazed.

    I've been looking for months, Had a Maverick that would seem to work but loose connection and not recover unless i went outside and re paired them. Sometimes it would work for 15 mins, then just crap out. I was inside my house not 20 ft away from the bbq unit, just couldn't penetrate the walls? I dont have metal siding either. I ran into something similar with the Thermopro that reviews on UA-cam say were so good. but the only way to keep connection was replacing the batteries everytime and keep it within 10 ft. dont even think about going inside. I fought it for 3 weeks and sent it back. Had another one from bed bath and beyond and the probes crapped out or something. So i gave up on remote temp probes. I'll spend the Benjamin and see if it actually works.

    • @BigPairOdice
      @BigPairOdice 2 роки тому

      Just be sure you have plenty of spare probes because the ThermoWorks probes are fragile! Two of my four Smoke X4 probes died halfway through my very first cook with it. And when my two new replacement probes arrived, the original two functional probes died! I've had the Smoke X4 since April 2021 and never had four functional food probes at any given time. It goes through new probes like they're popcorn! And my grill/smoker has a probe port, so the lid is not resting on the probe wires and pinching them. I've never exceeded the max temp ratings or immersed them in water while cleaning, and they're stored properly without the wires tightly bundled, etc. The probes are very delicate and unreliable. Nothing like having your probe(s) fail and being forced to swap them out mid-cook. If the probes aren't reliable, who cares about all the other features, range, slick design, etc. Buyer beware, very disappointed in my ThermoWorks Smoke X4!

    Comparing a Signals to economy version of Smoke isn’t fair at all. Signals uses WiFi and can control the Billows fan system. The Smoke X2/X4 also control the Billows. No matter what you do, the $60 original Smoke will never control a Billows or have a transmission distance of a mile and a half like the Smoke X do.
