  • Understanding the etiologic and radiographic classifications of pediatric spondylolisthesis is a crucial part of creating an effective treatment plan. Sumeet Garg, MD, pediatric spine surgeon and Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, provides illustrations on the classifications of pediatric spondylolisthesis.
You’ll begin by learning the Meyerding classification for vertebra slippage, which includes low- and high-grade slips. We will then focus on how to evaluate and use global sagittal parameters to classify this condition. These include how to measure pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt, sacral slope and the C7 plumb line.
There is no medical consensus on the treatment of higher-grade pediatric spondylolisthesis cases. Dr. Garg discusses the controversy around treatment and his thoughts on safe surgical procedures.
The Spine Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado provides leading-edge care for pediatric spondylolisthesis and other complex spinal deformities. We accept referrals from physicians across the region and beyond.
