    Nice way to stop air getting to the corroded metal. I'm a bit more paranoid so I would remove the whole board lol. I bought a few gallons of distilled water for these jobs. I don't have a ultrasonic cleaner so I just put the whole motherboard in a shallow tray of distilled water for a little while then clean with a brush. After, I flush away the debris with distilled water in a spray bottle with the board held vertically. I then use 99% isopropyl alcohol spray to displace all the water and finally dry it with hot air (or sun if we have a nice day).

    What causes the charging light to stay on after the charger is unplugged? I've seen that on other laptops. The charging light never turns off despite the charger removed and machine powered down.

    Liquid damage can be removed if it is found early enough,
    once the corrosion eats away the fine tracks it is often too late.
    This time the customer was lucky.

  • @Pepe-ry8pm
    @Pepe-ry8pm 5 місяців тому +1

    Liquid damage is unpredictable and you are not always as lucky as in this case. Depending on where it is, it can end in an irreparable breakdown. A good job but you don't always have that luck

      Hello🤝I remember how in Poland this was the way to protect printed circuit boards in various audio equipment and not only by using rosin, even nowadays you sometimes find retro equipment with such protection, good job, best regards👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋

    And in case of sea water damage, is better use normal water or alcohol? Some people advice to put card into white rice, and sometimes it works.

    Today I will disagree Sorin. Your method is not good.
    First - melting temperature of rosin is about 70-80 Celsius. So in case of MB it is possible to melt and tap to other parts. If you would like to prevent from corrosion you can use dedicated stuff like V-66 Isoleting lacquer used for example in automotive ECU. But IMO cleaning and resoldering is must have.
    BTW on the movie you didn't take out the board even. What if the corosion is on the other side? Liquid is unpredictable.

    Regular mineral oil is conductive, don't use it for the PCB, you can use WD40, it is not conductive and prevents oxidation.
