This set is fine but to me it's just an upscaled 4+ set, the temple is very basic in shaping and not very appealing and the tree looks like it was taken directly from a juniors set. I like the chibi y-wing but the chibi slave one and tie advanced from previous years were much more effective in comparison. The figs are solid and the actual pieces for medals is an amazing inclusion. 7/10 imo
I'd say 6 out of 10. This isn't a appealing set to display & that means 90% of adults will buy this only for the mini figs & the miniature Y wing which is dissapointing
It’s a cool set since it was a once scrapped idea to see it become official. I would just say that tree for the outlook post could’ve definitely used more detail like maybe a tree you build with smaller pieces than those big parts. Other than that, I’m glad LEGO brought a new Original Trilogy set to the table.
For $170 the gunship or ghost is a much better option. My main issue is that there r a ton of sets releasing for more than $100 this year. Too much imo
@thunderspark1536 while inflation is bad I really would love to see a specific breakdown of where the $170 goes. The $300 sets for example, or even the $500 ones....are they seriously worth the cost of a Nintendo Switch or PS5? Is plastic worth that much? Doesn't make sense
do you ever think we'll get an R2 unit with a dome that spins? Seems like its an easy transition. A body with 1 peg instead of 4 would be a good start.
This could have been the Mos Eisley replacement set if they had approached Yavin as a master builder series. The location aimed at an adult audience. Especially as this timeline for Yavin is from original film. A more complex, larger build. More detail. More vehicles. More minifigs to add volume to the scenes. Perfect accompaniment to Mos Eisley. Next a new reimagining MBS of the Death Star and you have the three main locations of the film covered.
Let me just say this: of all the diorama sets Lego has released from A New Hope. How in the force did they not make a diorama set for the medal ceremony? Is Yavin iconic? Yes. However I think we all remember it best for the ceremony at the end of A New Hope. LEGO: take notes
OMG! LEGO has not made the 2x2 trans yellow dish since they released it in two parts packs in 1989 & 1991. It was only released in two Classic Space sets released in 1986, sets 1558 & 6874. This Classic Space fan is extremely happy about that!!!! 😁
The weird thing with the Han face, which I believe they've done at least once before iirc, is that it's using the Young Han Solo face instead of the regular Han Solo face. The expression is good, but less facial lines to show that he's younger sticks out like a sore thumb when you realize it
For those of you getting this as a gift for a kid, the 4+ A Wing set that retired not too long ago goes EXTREMELY well with this set. The A Wing scales well with the Y Wing, and the A Wing looks really good to boot for what it is. It also comes with a green Rebel pilot to help round out the different type of characters you can have at Yavin. The A-Wing even comes with a Yavin side build. It's just a great way to make it look like you have a fleet to go with this base. The A Wing should fit through the hangar doors as well. Any kid would love to get these two sets together. Luckily, that retired A Wing is still not too pricey. If they have the Darth Vader's castle, they can attack this base with Vader's tie and some stormies. Or vice versa. This is what Star Wars has been missing; big playsets like the Battle of Endor, Darth Vader's Castle, and this.
@@Oscar-ek2jx Nintendo Switch is $300-$350. Nintendo says their product is for kids. Sorry but if anything, LEGO needs to dial back Star Wars adults sets. Shit is getting ridiculous.
I'd love to see you combine a few of these sets together and combine with some of your regular sized ships. Your videos ROCK and thanks for being a great example for others.
9:09 In reference books some cross section of yavin 4 temple show a observation and communications room at the top with a satellite dish in it. Some other cross sections just keep that area covered and don't show what's there.
The figures are really really good, but I can’t help but be disappointed by the build. Seeing how Yavin is one of the most hyped locations for a set cause we have literally never gotten it before. Definitely wait for a discount to pick it up.
i feel like this set is going to experience something similar to the justifier where it comes down to around £100 on amazon after a bit also great video again keep up the good work
I saw a Russian dub of Star Wars when I was a kid, but the part where Red Leader says "Cut the chatter, Red 2," and "I'm going to cut across the axis and try to draw their fire" were kept 100% in English and the John Williams horn section silent then exploding in was amazing. So yeah anyway it sucks he died in the movie but I'm glad to honor him in minifig form and in my head canon he survived and was dancing on Endor in Jedi with the Ewoks.
Love how you used a blue saber blade instead of the included white pointer stick. Very nice. But seriously, What are these lego prices I'm sure they are accounting for both inflation and people that buy them on discount. Those are minifigures I wish I could get but not with this price. No bricklink in my area either, mexico has very little variety when it comes to shops and buying international... might as well pay the full price of the set at that point. So discount it is.
To me, the design looks like a mirror to darth vaders castle set. It has the mini y wing like the mini tie advanced, a opening in the middle, and has the little room on top to place minifigs
Fun build but I wish it had more detail for the hefty price. The mini-figures are definitely a plus and worth it in the end for me. You still can’t beat having the Yavin 4 base and recreating the classic throne room scene.
i really like your reviews, they elevate you. all your videos and social media is really salty and than you can switch and create objective reviews. that is an honorable ability.
Dear Ryan (if you ever see this lol): There is a mistake (At least in my version) on page 8 of the first instruction booklet, the first step calls for 1 white 1x2 plate, but if you follow the instruction you actually need 2
This gave me an idea that Lego could possibly create the scene on Crait from the last Jedi with the big blast door and a few ski speeders at a smaller scale
I have to give LEGO props, I thought Gold Leaders helmet print looked familiar. Set 7658 comes with a Gold Leader with the same front helmet print, just the newer fig is more detailed and colored. Thought it was a nice touch
Thanks for the review! I don’t think this set has enough pluses for me to drop 170 on, minus the mini fig selections it’s just not a lot for that much money
The Y-wing and the medals are the best parts (and couple of the minifigs). I wish they would release ship builds of the same size as this set's Y-wings.
This is definitely something I’m picking up. Not only is it a cancelled set finally getting realrased, but it comes with so many good figures and details I’ve never owned (no matter how small, getting a Y-Wing is nice). Not heard of Y2 H3 before. Is he not the same droid as seen on Tantive IV?
despite there are cons against this set, like the price and some details as described in the video, still, this is a great one. Looking forward to getting it :) Proper review, as always, thank you! 👌🏻
I think I'm going to buy this set and then get another one off bricklink with no figs and combine them. I really do like this set but the interior is just so cramped and bland and I think getting a second one and beefing it up will make it look awesome
The most appealing part in my prospective view is the down scaled Y-Wing Starfighter, since we haven’t had a Y-Wing in a while, it makes it a little exciting.

I feel like the designers had great ideas but they were poorly executed, probably by the fact that they needed to reach their audience target and price range. It'll be interesting to see fans buy like 2x of this set and create a big moc with it. It has potential to be a proper Yavin 4 base.
Wow, it does not feel like 2 years ago when you made the concept model. I actually didn’t believe you and looked it up, convinced it was sooner than that. Man the time flies!
Look honestly besides the mini figures and the Y-Wing, the build itself looks like something anyone could easily make from their own set of legos. Not saying that this is inertially a bad thing, it’s just that i can confidently say that people could make something look as good or better pretty easily. Now if this set was $80 than that’s different, but $170 is insane. Can people seriously say they’d pay $30 more than At Te for thisv
Between the simplistic build and giving us only 1 rebel fleet trooper, this set came out kinda disappointing. This is the best 4+ line set so far.
