Well damn I only came here for the wiring on this particular vehicle..I have a 90 yota pickup I retrofitted this (your original) radio into my truck everything worked flawlessly except I have no backlight in the radio. Anyway you could let me know which factory wire color was the original backlight dimmer wire? Or which Input on the original radio was the dimmer input.Would be awesome if you could come through for me

Did you watch the video till the end where I state that cd player wiring video is linked in the description and there is a card that pops up in the corner for that exact reason.
@@jptheinstallguy i didn't stick around my bad. I ended up realizing that it doesn't matter what the blue/pink wire does and finished up the wiring.
I’m having problems… and you seem like you know what your doing, yesterday I installed a sub and amp in my 97 4 runner. But didn’t finish, went back to it today and installed and new head unit, wired it all up but no sound out the inside speakers, but I did have bump in the subs! Please help! Really lost haha. Probably did something wrong in the wiring, but I don’t know the factory schematics, because I did everything right that the one I was using online told me too… but the radio does cut on and work, just no sound
U need to re wire your radio harness with the correct speaker wires to the other wires they won’t colour match they little different

Ok then, I’m gonna give it a shot. I’ve put 3 sets of new speakers the last being 4 inch JBL, the right speaker keeps blowing. Think it’s the wiring? The factory stereo? I’m thinking I should also put in new speaker wire this time. Thought? Thanks!
Hello can you please show how to add a toggle on/off switch to prevent the power antenna on these vehicles from staying up all the time?
You can't on runners they stay up all the time
@@kennethWRX not true at all. I was able to figure it out and did in fact add a toggle switch. My antenna stays down all the time unless I hit the switch to bring it up.

@@kennethWRX 1998 . Toggle switch install is a universal option not year specific.
Hi do you still have the CD player portion of the radio?
I do not have the factory radio
How do I replace one if I have cut the wiring harness

metra 70-1761 the link is in the description as well
I’m confused. Best Buy sold me the 70-1761, but that is for cars without an amp. After realizing I have an amp, they sold me 70-8112, and it looks more like what you have in this video (it has the direct plug ins - purple, gray, white, etc) with the snap on connector/adapter on the other end. It has the speaker wires already joined together, then I tried to join the remaining wires (red, blue, etc) based on the wiring video linked above), but it won’t turn on.
