Teflon tape isn't used BECAUSE there were leaks.. it's always used (or something like it) for water fittings. Ask any plumber.

Water cooling looks nice ....sometimes but are more trouble then they are worth. I have never seen one that did not fail.

I think that the reason only one of the GPU blocks was clogged is that little cooling was reaching the second block.
Clogged water block fins seem to be very common regardless of vendor, one of the reasons I stay with air cooling.
Vinegar, its acidic, can be helpful to removing scale buildup.
Imagine the round EK logo rotated clockwise 90 degrees, it resemble an unhappy face.
Very appropriate for this system as well a the current state of EK.
Don't forget to add biocide to your coolant.
    Thanks for another great episode.

if you´re interested, the Radiator brand is Alphacool (a german watercooling company), this specific model should be a Nexxxos UT60 480mm Rad.
Btw i have two 1080ti´s with waterblocks on them and i dont use them anymore, if you wanna play around with them in sli you can have them for free (i´d just need to figure out shipping from austria to the US)

Little trick for draining loop once you have it like that pop off a tube at the top open the drain port and inset air duster it will blast any water you have left out of it. Also, you need some biocide and corrosion inhibitor in with the distilled. You can get that from any of the main water cooling brands

    • @Phoenix_Enterprises
      @Phoenix_Enterprises 15 днів тому

I was going to mention using distilled H20...cooling loops need biocide to stop bacterial growth...*(slime molds) as well as lubricants for the pump.

In Springfield, OH they're eating the blocks. They're eating the rads. Eat the rads. Eat eat the rads. Interesting the super rusty block was missing a screw. For that block to look like that, it probably had something that didn't belong there like a screw. Be sure to get a screw that doesn't rust like you know stainless.

Next time clean any loop parts like the rads with distilled water and not tap water. Cleaning with tap water can introduce things you don't want in the loop.

Plumbers tape to be sure, for in the day, we didn't want it to start leaking, so we took preventative maintenance before the problem. I'm sure that you put Teflon 'plumbers' tape' on the kitchen/bathroom drains when you work on them so that they won't start leaking. Nothing worse than the mess after something leaks, so pre protection, that is unless you know that the fittings and 'O' rings are good.
Colored fluid, = funky dirty tubing...

You should use antifreeze , itll def help with the rust, plus itll look way better with the green liquid. Fyi, teflon is used to prevent leaks, not because its already leaking.

just the caselabs case is worth a ton of money. If it is the merlin there is one selling for $1400.
I usually do a complete teardown ever few months to clean my loop. It just depends if I use opaque coolant or not.
Any heavy cleaners with alcohol or acetone, like goo gone can destroy the acrylic. It will cause it to cloud up and it may start cracking.

The Teflon tape is to make sure it doesn't leak for certain if you have anything threaded at all thats related to liquid always use Teflon tape make sure you use fresh Teflon tape when you put it back together otherwise you might be a victim of Murphy's law if something can go wrong it probably will

I remember you having physical problems and I was hoping you would get better. I sent you a message via comments and now I'm about to die being murdered and I never got to build a PC. I always wanted to. I won a laptop from toasty bro's but rejected it because I was homeless. I tried to get medical attention so many times and people keep stopping me, even at the emergency room. I'm so tired and suffocated physically that my body is giving out. People bitch any medical attention and are cutting my spinal column and mutilating my brain and stealing my FBI hard drive processor chip set . So this is the end for me. Take care and keep the PC videos coming for the people that exist that ain't the people involved with killing me.

One thing I've learned with being an electrician for over 30 years is that liquids and electricity don't mix. Don't care how good or watertight the system might be there's always a chance and since I leave my system on all the time - not a chance! One of the reasons SLI and Crossfire died violent deaths is because of excess heat cooking one or both or all three of your very expensive GPU's. Other reasons are the fact that GPU's advanced at a stupid fast rate, sucked way more power and got way more expensive in the process. When the game devs stopped supporting the platforms that was the last nail in the dual GPU coffin, not to mention it was a pain in the a@# to set up and configure. Good solid case though.

  • @fragalot

Do you really need to water cool it again? If you're going to flip it as a budget build, use air coolers. Maybe you can get some aftermarket air coolers for the 980s? Or at least get one cooler for the 980, sell that system and keep the other 980 for another build.

Resale Used market wise, you will be hard pressed to make much money on it, but yes it is worth it, theres still plenty of value in those GTX980's and please keep that case. its ironic that the second gpu is PNY because theres a rumour that Kingpin could be teaming up with PNY having been permenantly seperated from EVGA cause of the lousy way Nvidia dealt with them going into the 4000 series rtx and beyond era. the red extention cable sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all the black, it either needs more red themed stuff, or just do all black.

The area is to small to close in plus the garage is also used for auto stuff and I usually have multple car and computer projects going on the same time. Would not be practical. I was gonna use the shed for that but the cost to run electricity is not worth it. Plus, we might be moving next year so I don't want to dump a ton of money on the house.
