DIY Concrete Raised Bed
Вставка

- This DIY raised planter is fully made out of cinder blocks! These blocks are staked and then filled with dirt and rock. Traditionally you would pour a concrete footing and then stack the block, I wanted to see if it would work with rock and block adhesive. I love how it turned out and so far its doing amazing. If I were in a more wet area I would have installed a drain, we are in a pretty dry area and this dirt is mostly granite, clay and rock. I have found there isn't much settling that occurs in this area.

Make sure to incorporate a great drainage system so you don’t direct water into your basement or crawl space.
Yeah she didn't lol
3 things to think about:
1. Tar the exterior wall in which the dirt will be up against. The water will work into your foundation wall and slowly weaken it until settlement cracks appear and then eventually work its way into the home. You can tell if your poured wall is constantly moist due to lime buildup(white power)on the inside of the wall.
2. Any wall above 2 ft I would recommend rebar every 3-4ft of the wall if using block if dealing with a hill. Before you cap, place a stick of rebar and fill with a no shrink grout. Without it, the hydrostatic pressure will start to push up on the wall which will crack the stucco and bow the wall.
3. Go deeper with your first row. This one is pretty much self explanatory.
And I would not recommend putting ANY drainage against the home in this situation as it will have the adverse effect. You will pull water to the drainage and to your home rather than away.
Great Great Great advice!!
Great advice!
Thanks Appreciate it.
We who do this kind of work can be a little judgemental but we mean no harm just want the best for you and the structure. Keep up the good work your vision is awesome and honestly most men wish they could do projects with their women mad props to ya!
You go girl..Turned out beautiful 😍
Wonderful job building that wall!
This is actually a pretty cool project
impressive! Very nice job. Glad you painted it black. It looks great.
Such a great idea when a curtain wall will work rather than a massive retaining wall ❤ easy touch ups if needed, too! Great idea
You should be proud, looks great.
I am so very proud of you
You are a DIY sorcerer. This looks awesome. Thanks for sharing!
You have a beautiful home. It’s gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
It is very nice
I love how it matches the roof, nice design and ☠ execution ☠. Killer job!
Awesome Dear Lady 😊
Man that looks beautiful. Love the black ❤❤
Great job looks stunning🗽
Good job
You are killing it
I would’ve left 1/4in. space between the bottom blocks just incase there ever is to much water it won’t build up and break. I know you’re in a dry climate but so was I went I did this. My neighbors yard was higher and they would over water and even put a small doughboy pool it eventually broke and there pool popped and they tried siding us for our wall break under the pressure they built on it. They didn’t get anything out of it.
looks awesome
Looks amazing
Aww the puppy in the window ❤
I love it❤
Absolutely love this lady go girl 😮
I really like this I do this for a living u did a phenomenal job
I might recommend that you filled the cells of the block to help stabilize the wall against pushing of the soil from behind. But I guess you didn't fill it full from what I can see.
Looks good.👍
That's very cool. Great job.
That’s pretty cool, the black paint looks modern 👍🏼👍🏼
I think the black made it look like shit! I like black it’s definitely modern but this clashes with the house the light gray was way better
Great job
You Go, Girl!!!
Nice home!
Looks great!
Very nice
Weep holes so moisture doesn't settle on your foundation but drains
I was going say this. Looks good but always need drain holes.
It's on rocks 🤡
@@Kt-cn2rq would holes be needed if no concrete base?
@@Kt-cn2rq Should be ok because you have the perimeter drain for the house.
This looks incredible!
Thank you!
Killing it
Very nice.
Beautiful 🤩
Thanks for sharing 😍
No bueno you’ll need to drain the water it might retain
That is actually one of the reasons I used crushed rock, that seems to have helped with the drainage actually and so far its doing really well. We had a wet winter (not common) and I was kinda wondering how it would hold up. We shall see when it gets really hot. It is experimental after all.
Beautiful..
Awesome job. You go girl 💪❤🎉
Thank you!!
Amazing job, love it
BEAUTIFUL
Awesome .
Good work..... CONCRETE!
Luv it! Great job!
Ooo, a deep taricata color would look pretty too

Impressive!!
Wooooaw. Good job.

Very cool. Great job
Good job girl!😊
Thank you!! 😁
Now dryrot has developed in the crawlspace...
Really great job!
It's a great job I like it. One thing I would have done is bringing new dirt nice soil for the planner so your garden would thrive I told Sandy dirt it's not going to let plants live real good other than that you did an amazing job I will just change the dirt❤
Thanks I did do that actually. This second part was shot in the winter when the plants were still dormant.
Dry stacking and then using an outer sealant coat (like you did) is actually very strong.
Great job!
Great Job
You are a badass it’s looks amazing 🤟🏽
That's awesome.
Beautiful ❤😂
Lovely ❤️
You Go Girl🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Pull the top Put some rebarian and pour some pea gravel concrete mix in the blocks
Looks amazing. I just love how the black really enhanced the look of ur flowers and house.
Great job you might have settle after a couple of years with just a rock base but It looks amazing
Oh wow! You did a fantastic job. KUDOS 2U ❤
Cool...wish I wasn't so lazy.
Good job, but I would like recommend a waterproof membrane against the house
girl, I love your handy woman skillz.
Oooooo my Miss Thang, Killed it‼️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹😎
That’s really awesome!
I think I would've filled the corners with concrete.
That Mason glue is pretty strong though
🤩 wow

You just destroyed the drainage around your house and are forcing water up against the foundation.
Actually that’s why I went with the crushed rock base, to help with drainage
Where is the concrete footing, rebar and morter head joints ??
Nothing to be sorry about, there are lots of different types of retaining walls. This is called a gravity retaining wall, if you look that up you may better understand my goal. I may not last and I may have to fix a section but since there is no mortar that’s super easy to do. 🙌🏼 so far so good
@@EternalHarvestDecor is nice that you understood that he had the video muted so he couldn't hear you talking about how you did it differently and ... he also didn't have his glasses on so he couldn't see the caption to read that either. 😉
Wow !
That looks great.
Tigran Gertz has entered the chat…
7 years is the standard test you got 6 years 4 months to wait, Absolutely the wall will move it’s all about foundation get that right then you get 20+ year value
It looks fantastic!!!!!
What kind of concrete adhesive did you name brand I’m thinking about doing a wall for my landlord he’s in a wheelchair wife’s Busy with the kids and I think that just might do it you did a great job
I used this... amzn.to/3MAFfbz
It's NOT "cinder block"! Its concrete block.
What bag did u use
Nice work. You could have gone one step further and poured concrete into block cavities. Would be indestructible then.😊
yes my dad did this and it ends up cracking and shifting with ground
Add 3/4" rebar first, to make it really indescribable 😉😉
Great idea! I have blocks like that and a slope that drops into the street. Right now the clocks are those scalloped ones about an inch thick. I’ll dig those up and put the cinder locks in and do what you said and it should hold up great!
What’s the name of the song playing. I can’t think of the name. BTW, your work looks amazing
I've sent an amazing job💖💋
Looks good, but you have no rebar..
Good job it will last long if you do not put pressure on it by adding more dirt.
Please post an update every year! This is very educational
Black paint was a great choice. ♥️
Girl you did an absolutely amazing job!
Turned out so beautiful!
Can we apply water proof on the rendered edges without primer?
Probably, I would check the instructions on the water proofing material you want to use
