Something I'd definitely be interested in. They should extend the board by a few inches in length and width in the back and added stabilization algorithm for the wheel balance and aluminum casing with changeable dent plates and scids for the underbody in v2
I agree that it would be worthwhile to play with the possibility of altering the current dimensions in order to improve the product, if in field testing the additional size does not spoil the ultimate design. At least for now with the current internal space needed for the components the board would have to be extended in order to make those handle spaces on the board ends (not sides) larger and deeper so they are more practical to use. I am thinking that range is always something that rider's will want to be extended and that means more batteries and the need for more space and or improved battery tech that produces more battery power and capacity in the same or lesser space! In any case it will come...
I'd rather have the weight than less battery/range. But maybe wheels on an end to trolley along? I suspect it wouldn't work great unless you're the perfect height though
My ADV is insane. Going up hill at 23 mph or cruising at 25 then peaking into 28 mph with total confidence is bananas. Literally can not ride the GT anymore.
@@BrandonTalbot I think the GTS is better for racers and elite riders because it's lighter. But for everyone else, the ADV can't be beat. It just crushes the GT. Once you get used to the strong nose of a VSEC it's hard to go back to FM boards.
ADV PRO crushes even the GTS and the weight difference is soo small. It just make more send to buy two ADV versus one GTS that you cannot repair if breaks and you have to wait for future motion to let you ride it.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace Eh the ADV is over 20% heavier than the GTS. I wouldn't call that small and it's definitely noticeable. The tradeoff is worth though imo
I got mine a week ago and I can't stop riding it! The board is a tank. It goes over everything! It also weighs as much as a tank. Setting up the IMU is a little tricky and is not well explained.
You are so so right on all points. Frankly, I can't remember in any arena in which the game was changed to this degree it seems almost like just at the snap of two fingers. It's like Vedder snapped his fingers when he engineered the VESC system, that enabled so many other engineers that have in-turn been using the VESC tool in the public domain on so many electric products, including PEV's, and then that evolved to the point where it is that it was the perfect tool to build upon by engineers like Tony who realized the death grip that FM had on the One Wheel product and then Tony was smart and capable enough to capitalize on it. So, Tony parlayed on Vedder's finger snap and he snapped his fingers and all of the sudden FM no longer has a hold on the OneWheel product. So, very much like what happened with the architecture and framework of the PC in the 70's as it fortunately inadvertently entered the public domain so that engineers were able to develop on the IBM clone and that released the grip that IBM was at that time trying to keep on the PC market, Vedder and Tony have been able to even more so dramatically do the same to FM. FM are over there in their HQ's in Santa Cruz living a nightmare and crapping their pants... YAY!!! NOW, If they don't GET SMART and change their business model quick, fast and in a hurry, they are done for! My mind tells me that they will not, because none of them are near as smart as they think they are, and it's so appripo as he even lied and passed the OneWheel concept off as his idea too. If Tony continues to play his cards as he has and he continues to nurture the market and being one with the OW Clone universe his success along with the success of the ADV will far surpass anything FM ever thought of doing!
Yeah, and it needs to stay that way. I am convinced that for the OW clone to expand its customer base to the degree that it has the potential too achieve the price is actually going to have to come down. At the current price it will never become a household Xmas present under the tree. For instance I have 4 granddaughters and each of them would enjoy having one but not a lot of parents could buy 4 ADV's at the current price. Hopefully as Tony grows his operation he can streamline the costs and processes enough to give the ADV a household name! If he doesn't someone else will!
@@jackcassandra65 currently I can't think of any electric scooter, board, etc. that can go ~30mph and cost less than $1k. I can see why it costs what it does with how strong/heavy the components are and technology in it. Something like this with less expensive components is bound to break fast. Heck, even this one has some issues with the current skid plate. Hell, TEMU might even have a knock off, but guarantee it'll break quick and/or have a much higher chance of injury.
@@jackcassandra65Go get them used pints for $500 then. This board wasn't made to stick under Christmas trees for every kid in the family. No new onewheel is priced to do that regardless.
@@jackcassandra65 These are high powered electric vehicles, not toys to give under the christmas tree to young ones. Only the Pint could possibly classify as that. Yay! Push-back was a outright catastrophe of a design! Never should a warning to the rider of exceeding the products operating parameters turned into throwing the rider hazaedlessly and dangerously off the board. Yes, I system to notify the rider is clearly needed but to create something that puts them in danger of injury or death is criminal and FM should have been made an example over that engineering fubar snafu!
@@jackcassandra65 Pushback is not responsible for people nosediving, it's people going to fast for the board to keep them balanced. If pushback is disabled people can still nosedive by going too fast, but there will be no warning to the rider.
This aged well. Guess what you can repair your one wheel now. It’s crazy how ungrateful people are for the pioneers of this hobby. FM literally made this a reality otherwise it probably wouldnt exist.
I received the bumpers replacements and they are perfect. It's not 40min. I increased the speed of the video and without intro is more like 20min. Easy to set up but after it's the best onewheel today.
Nope, people are asking me what this is and if it's comfortable or safe to ride. Most are genuinely impressed of my balancing performance, but it's all great design and performance of the wheel.
Super glad to hear its got you excited! Whenever they release their EUC model we are in for a wild ride.
