It’s so sad that you have to say that in the beginning of your video. I know that it is your opinion. Just like I say is that I love Freddy’s Dead The Final nightmare. That’s my opinion.
Completely agree on Friday the 13th remake and Amityville Horror. Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George are really good as is the creepy little girl. I actually really enjoy the Friday the 13th franchise even with as stupid as it gets but the remake was actually a good horror movie and easily the best of the lot. So pissed we didn't get a sequel to it. The Jason in that one absolutely dominates and is truly terrifying in his size and relentlessness. While i do agree that the Texas Chainsaw remake is very good and enjoyable, i do still prefer the original by a slight edge. Rewatching that remake, it did totally creep me out that he was walking around with her boyfriend's face on. Other remakes i really like are Evil Dead, It Chapter 1(though i maintain that Tim Curry is still the Pennywise that gives me nightmares), Thirteen Ghosts, The Thing, The Fly, and The Blob. Red Dragon is...ok. Manhunter is so much better, imo. I am also probably the only person on the planet to think this but i vastly prefer Ringu to The Ring. I am not necessarily against American remakes but the original there just created an unnerving mood better to me. Best horror remake, imo, is Let Me In. Matt Reeves has done no wrong as a film director and only appears to improve as he goes. His version of the vampire tale had me interested from the out.
watched the blob remake after watching the original. i found the original to be very boring, having one dimensional characters. when i watched the remake i was taken aback about how GOOD it is, great characters, amazing practical effects, absolutely fun every minute
It’s great how Cody is doing Tier Rankings of topics that make a lot more sense in this format than just a regular ranking. It makes for great, engaging content, which is what Cody always delivers.
Unfortunatelythough, he gets a lot of them wrong. He trashes most classics and praises terrible horror movies. I just don’t think he’s a true horror fanatic.

The TCM remake was an insane theater watch. I was tripped out. One of my buddies kept making excuses to get up during the intense scenes. Love this movie.
The way he was so dead on with his review of that movie. I literally was in the theater wanting to leave, hoping at some point the movie would turn a corner but it didn't. Straight trash!
I also didn't love Evil Dead the first time I saw it but then grew to really enjoy it and have watched it several times! 😅 Prime example of how ads/trailers can absolutely destroy how we first view a film. Thank you for this wicked ranking video Cody, you are the king of horror content for me. 🤘
I think Evil Dead 2013 is a good stand alone film on its own. Having said that, I did not think it was a good remake because I couldn't care less about any of the characters and how stupid they were. Where as, I think The Hills Have Eyes 2006 remake is the best remake period, because I have never cared more about a family in a film then I did watching that film. I also felt that way in both The Night of the Living Dead 1990 and Dawn of the Dead 2004 remakes. Evil Dead had a great opening scene but it was just too much with the excessive gore and blood trying to 1up the original and its sequel. It actually made me sick to watch and I didn't care for the ending or the pointless cameo by Bruce Campbell, he deserved more than what they gave him. When I met him at an evening with Bruce in 2021 with a Q&A session with him and a 4K Theatrical restoration of The Evil dead 1981, he hinted at Evil Dead Rise 2023 and spoke vaguely about it which excited me. I asked him what he thought about the remake and his reply was, "As a producer on the film with Rob and Sam, I can say it made enough money to put my snot nosed kids through college." I take it he was not overwhelmed by the remake.
I agree, even though I didn't like Evil Dead 2013 as a remake, it still stands on its own a decent horror flick. Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead, The Last House on the Left and My Bloody Valentine are great remakes as well. @@bo2720
I absolutely love that you gave props to The Dawn of the Dead,House on Haunted Hill,House of Wax, and Thirteen Ghosts!! I am right there with you that I am a firm believer that these are all underrated horror movies. Glad to see someone agrees!
Cody I just have to say that I’m loving these tier rankings. It gives me something to put on during my lunch break or when I’m doing homework. Keep up the great work!
Another really engaging tier list video...this time I'd seen most of these films so it was fun to rank them. You explain your views on each film very well here and it always makes sense why you put it in that tier...awesome work.
Dawn of the Dead 1978 is my favourite horror movie of all time. The remake was an absolute gift to the fans of the original and works better for modern audiences. I have a massive amount of nostalgia for the original as my intro into the zombie sub genre and extreme gore. Great work as usual Cody.
@magicjohnson3121 It's a zombie movie at a mall and that's it. It's a remake in name only but that's okay because copying the original too closely might have been a mistake and often is.
I always say that if Child's Play hadn't been called "Child's Play" and just been it's own thing called Buddi or something I would've loved it. It's really fun
One thing some people don't really know or remember was that the OG Freddy was originally going to be a kiddy diddler, but because of the real life cases going on at the time, Wes changed it so that the OG Freddy is the child killer we know today. The 2010 reboot possibly went with the original concept instead of doing its own twist on the OG kiddy killer Freddy.
Memory might serve me wrong but it was rare for anything attributed to a horror film in the 80's being nominated for an Oscar so I very much doubt if Jeff Goldblum was nominated. Edit...He did win a Saturn award for best actor though
TRIGGER WARNING (Theme: s**ual h*rassment and crime) 51:12 Not that either crime is okay by any means, but I always find it insane when some people say the crime of - let's call it h*rassing - is "worse" than straight up UN-ALIVING a child. The issue I have here is the word "worse". If you wanna say "equally as bad", okay, it makes more sense that some people might feel that way. But "worse" than UN-ALIVING? In one scenario the child is literally wiped from this existence. In the other (however still terrible), they get to live, and there are ways to heal from trauma with the right help and methods. One crime still leaves the child with a life to experience and grow in. The other takes that possibility away completely. And before anyone says "the other crime still robs them of their innocence and takes away their chance at a normal life" - that is subjective. Nobody has to stay a victim their whole life. Here me out, I am not taking anything away from the point that the h*rassment crime creates a huge trauma in their life that **can** be crippling. I get that. But it absolutely DOES NOT HAVE TO BE a life-long battle for the victim if they get the right help and practice the right methods to work through said trauma. They absolutely CAN heal from it with the right tools and self-care. Saying it steals their innocence is to say the victim has no free will of their own. Literally ANYTHING BAD can happen to someone - even a kid - and that person can still DECIDE that "No. The perpetrator DOES NOT get to take my peace away from me. They don't have the RIGHT to." Understandably, a kid may not understand the ways to address this themselves, but that is where their family and even therapy can help guide them. And they can work to heal their trauma and live a very fulfilling life over time. Again, because I know this is triggering to some of you, I am not defending any crime at all. I understand how terrible both crimes are and how negatively they can impact someone. I'm not taking anything away from that. The point of this post is simply that it baffles me when someone claims the "h*rassing" crime is "WORSE" than the un-aliving crime. One crime leaves the victim with at least a chance at life, one does not. One leaves the family of the victim with a chance to keep them, one takes their loved one away completely. We as a people will always be victims to something at certain points in our lives. Whether child or adult, there are situations that happen to us which are out of our control, and some are definitely going to be traumatic. But the reason we as a people are not advancing beyond this negativity is because we so often refuse to believe we have the power to help ourselves. We never HAVE TO stay the victim. That decision lies in our own hands. There will ALWAYS be someone to blame. There will ALWAYS be an aggressor. We simply WILL NOT be able to eliminate that fact. But what we CAN control is: how we react, and how we process our hardships. Instead of being a victim for the entirety of our lifespan, we can see traumas and hardships as opportunities to learn. To learn the invaluable skill of self-healing and acceptance. Then the aggressors from your past got nothin' on you. Nothing can control you your entire life unless you let it.
I really appreciate the categories on this tier list. It’s not a simple “this is better than that” because you can’t always really compare these films that way. Especially for this kind of tier list these categories are fantastic
My favorite horror remake is Evil Dead 2013 by far. Super intense in gore and really scary. Worst is of course Leprechaun origins. Not even a Leprechaun
Great video dude 👏, and I was surprised with the huge amount of opinions that we had in common, I feel like about 80 percent of the choices was how I would have put them too.
I’ve never been so caught off guard and scared as the moment Tommy ran thru the laundry in the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre adaptation. I was used to those type of always killers walking. That was an insane moment. That movie and The Hills Have Eyes remake are 2 of my all time favorites! I agree w the Friday the 13th remake.
Just discovered your channel last night. The fact that you put Dawn Of The Dead in GOAT I'm subscribing. My buddy and I get together and watch this movie at least once a year. It'll forever be one of the greats
I wish you got a better watch of The Ring. Truly one of the scariest films I’ve ever seen, and one of the few that have ever made me scared. It left a serious impact on me, and the visual aspect to it will make you depressed. It ends on a note that is so incredibly wild and sad. One of my favorite horror films and one of my most underrated.
I'm going to defend the use of CGI in the IT remakes. It gives Pennywise an uncanny feeling almost like a "this thing should not exist in this world," but here it is right in front of you.
No way.. A CGI clown doing stupid shit is not scary. Tim Curry just turning his face from a smile to evil looking was far scarier than anything Skarsgaard did. I enjoyed the Chapter 1 remake but Pennywise was the worst thing in it.
@@Ian_Synnott just an L take. First off people who don't get scared just don't get scared. Based on an objective opinion the remake is 10 x scarier when the Clown has shark teeth. The old version just looks goofy and would cause more laughter than fear.
That’s the problem it gives it an uncanny feeling and 7/10 times it feels so unrealistic to where it throws you out. You’re supposed to be able to suspend your disbelief and believe what you’re watching could be real.
@@Ian_SynnottI’m on the other end of the stick. I found Skarsgaard Pennywise more scarier than Tim’s. If anything Tim’s Pennywise took me out of the movie. I remember watching it and everytime he talked or tried being scary just made me cringe and think “how did peoplee find this terrifying”. I objectively hated that film and I watched it before I watched the remake, if memory serves I watched it before the remake was even announced. But yes the cgi in the remakes of IT where not great. Do I think it’s the worst thing? God no, not when they decided to do a prequel of The Thing and use CGI for The Thing. Off tangent but my biggest gripe for The Thing prequel is easily the part in the helicopter. The CGI was at its worst their and it was so atrocious.
TCM 03 is the first horror movie I remember watching at the ripe age of 6 lmao it's always been one of my favs because of that. Glad to see others appreciate it as much as I do
I don’t understand the hate of the 2009 Friday. I enjoyed every part of it and thought they did a great job of taking that classic into the new generation. It gave some explanation on how Jason travels so fas as well
Absolutely terrible screenplay / dialogue is why many hate it, along with the fact it's not scary at all, has split second flashes of CGI gore and ugly cinematography.
I know this video is 9 months old, but Im so glad F13 2009 is getting the love that it deserves. Derek Mears Jason is honestly terrifying. And the kills are really damn good and I love that we get a final guy instead of a final girl. And I love that the central relationship is between siblings.
You know that Wes Craven wanted to make Freddy a child molester, but the studio intervened and killed the idea. They saw it as too controversial and risky. They just restored it for the remake to pay tribute to the original idea. Doesn’t make the remake any better. But it’s interesting to know.
@@reiterated They always hinted at something more dark and sinister in a lot of the sequels. But it always were undertones and very clever placed short hints in the dialogue. Until the remake came along.
I love how Maniac films are totally different experiences. The POV one always made it super uncomfortable to watch but a good film to watch. I will say this … the original had THE BEST headshot scene in cinema history to me.
Great to see the love for The Uninvited. Defo has rewatch value and not to spoil it in the comments but when the twist/reveal happens and you rewatch it, it’s like “Ahh man, how did I not realise this! Well played!” 😂 My Bloody Valentine 3D is fun too, great cast and the small town setting is on point👌🏾
I'm happy to see someone else like the Hellraiser remake. When I was little, I had a recurring nightmare that these "things" or "looming presence" were coming for us and we had to lock ourselves in the house and pretty much just sit there and wait for them. The Hellraiser remake was like someone took my dream and adapted it into a movie
I would also add Funny Games and put it in Better than the original, i just prefer it...i think as a movie it's very effective and disturbing, it's frustrating and you just know the director is toying with us as viewers, like the original as it''s pretty much shot for shot but in English.. It just goes there and has the balls to do it.. It has my high respect.
I know your movie tastes so well, I guessed your rankings correctly 95% of the time. I was wrong about The Blob because I thought you saw the original.
I remember when the Friday remake came out, I was going through a horror movie phase and catching up on some of the franchises I was terrified of as a kid. I finally went through the Ft13th movies and when I finally gave the remake a go I was honestly really impressed with it. Taking the first three movies and condensing them into a modern day telling of the Crystal lake killer worked really well and fleshing out Jason and giving the audience explanations on how he's able to get around the camp grounds was a clever idea gave us something new while being faithful to the original. I really liked this one! ... I also kind of blame it for setting my expectations to high for the Nightmare on elm street remake... The nightmare series, next to Chucky, was my favorite horror franchise when I was a teen. It was a free canvas to let the creators go wild and let their twisted imaginations go wild. ... And they did NOTHING WITH IT! I loved seeing a serious Freddy again, the kills were either pale cgi imatations of the originals or just boring. On top of that, the heavy implications of Freddy... Doing things to his victims and toying with the audience if he was guilty or not was a horrible decision. Save for the micronap concept and (imo) a good redesign and casting for Freddy, this was absolutely disappointing. Oh, and then there's Child's Play 2019.... I liked it. Chucky is my favorite horror villain and I thought this was an interesting modern day spin on the character without stepping on the toes of the original series. They don't create Charles Lee Ray, they don't recreate a 6 year old with tricked by a possessed doll, they don't recreate a mother trying to save her son from a vengeful spirit, they set out to do their own thing yet it gets piled on. Meanwhile, M3gan comes along with the same idea minus the blood and gore and it's a run away success. That's just how it goes, I guess.
Your arguments about the nightmare remake make absolutely no sense lol. So, they did nothing with it, but you liked the new additions of the micro naps and hated the new backstory? Y'ou're okay with Freddy being a child murderer but him doing things before he murders them is where you draw the line? Like are y'all listening to yourselves when saying that? (and i specifically mean all of you cause almost everyone has this complaint) You wanted to root for a child killer, and the filmmaker reminded you that it's not normal or sane to do that, and instead people criticised him for it lmao and that's why y'all will never get another Nightmare movie, because people want to root for him and realistically the studios would get into too much trouble nowadays if they made the audience root for an actual child murderer lmao....
@@zaldigr863 I was just trying to be a smart ass! But if you want a more articulate retort.... The difference is that a child KILLER is a pretty typical slasher trope. Part of the reason people like 80's slashers is that it's fun to sometimes "cheer" for the villain. Although child murder is obviously an unforgivable act, in the original franchise all of the pedophile stuff was subtext. Plus, eventually Freddy was presented in a "cool" way that made him a pop culture icon! Most slasher villains kill teenagers, children are just one step up in depravity. No child is ever SEEN being murdered in the original franchise, so it's really just an extension on a trope that fans are used to. It's impossible to "cheer" for Freddy when the remake puts the fact that he has sex with CHILDREN front and center! My sincere apologies if my first reply bothered you. There's a much better one that proves that I can get a little long winded sometimes, too!
My list of remakes better than the original: Black Christmas (2006) Silent Night (2012) Halloween (2007) My Bloody Valentine (2009) The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) The Hills Have Eyes 1&2 (2006, 2007) Hobo With a Shotgun (2011) Evil Dead (2013) It (2017) The Crazies (2010) Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Napel did an amazing job on all the remakes he did. Friday The 13th remake is my favorite Friday movie out of all of them. And I'm an 80's kid who followed Jason's movies from the start.
I'm sad you didn't enjoyed The Ring :( It's probably my favorite horror movie of all time! The original is equally good but it gets a bit confusing, the remake is much more straightforward. However the original had a better Samara (or Sadako, her original name).
This was such a fun tier list. I really need to see the re-make of "The Blob" again. I really liked it when I saw it as a kid and I especially remember seeing the trailer for it and being so psyched to see it. And I don't know why more people don't talk about it.
Thank you for ripping into that Pet Sematary remake! Switching the kids had potential, because it completely changes how the third act plays out, but yes, it is weirdly rushed and they do little with it. The ending . . . UGH! It is dark and bleak, sure, but to what end? At the end of the movie, it has nothing to say. How can you make a movie about the horrors of losing your child and being unable to move on . . . and have nothing to say? SPOILER FOR THE ORIGINAL In this one, dad basically succeeds in stopping this, and effectively has to kill gauge himself, which re-traumatizes him, but makes it so much worse than his first death. Unfortunately, he doesn't learn from it, repeats it with his wife, and she comes back and kills him. He could not let them go . . . he could not realize that "sometimes dead is better" . . . better than being stuck and unable to accept said death. Unfortunately, my wife saw the remake first, and now refuses to watch the original, and I understand why. They have done legitimate harm to the original.
I LOVE when you talk about your love for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake & your theater experience for it, because I had the same experience. I remember being a 12/13 yr old girl on a family trip stopping at a random theater and my dad & stepmom were trying to take my younger brother, younger stepbrother and me to see some kids movie called good boy and I begged them to let me watch the Texas chainsaw massacre. I was in the theater alone shitting my pants but when I got out I acted like it didn't scare me half to death cause I begged to see it ha. I'm still obsessed with it to this day one of the best remakes/ horror movies in general ❤
What’s weird about Fright Night is that the 2013 movie Fright Night 2: New Blood is basically another telling of the same story but with a sequels title
Fun fact for anyone who doesn't the person who played isaac in Children of the Corn (the kid with the amish hat) wasn't a child, he is now in his sixties which means he was in his twenties when he played him
F13 2010 remake is highly underrated. The way jason adapted to living in the woods. Having traps and alarms that let him know where someone was was amd having tunnels that I guess explained how he got around so fast was nice detail. That scene with him pissed and running was also very awesome. Kills were cool. Characters eventhough they were the some stereotype they were alright. The opening scene before the title was really cool and it combined the best parts of the first few movies into 1. Wish we got a sequel to it. The dude that played jason was a beast aswell
Always love your videos Cody. Just curious, how come you don't review any Asian horror? It's such a big sub-genre nowadays and it would be great to hear your thoughts on some of its classics.
Great list! Had to check the comments to see how many people (in your placing of Evil Dead) said "They're not called Cenebites, they're called Deadites!" ;D
The SA scene in Last House on the Left is hard to watch. I honestly tend to skip over it, but only because I just don't like seeing that stuff. When I was an edgy teenager it didn't bother me, but these days... not so much. But I absolutely love the rest of the movie and really liked how in this version the daughter actually survives unlike the original.
I’ll never get the hate for F13 2009. Maybe it’s because I saw it in the theater back when I was like 14 and had a blast, but I still enjoy it at almost 30 for what it is.
Some remakes that I actually like (a real rarity) are The Thing (1982), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Nosferatu the Vampire (the Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski version from 1979), The Blob (1988), Cat People (1982), and Scarface (1983). THOSE, however, are OLDER ones, having nothing to do with this $h!tty current Hollywood remake trend, which I pretty well detest.
This video gets an immediate like for putting the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre at #1 GOAT. I have been saying it for 20 years since I saw it in theaters that it is one of the greatest horror movies and easily the greatest remake ever made. I think it's 10X better than the original and the film is an absolute step up in every way. The cast and acting is phenomenal, the settings are drenched in pure dread and suspense and R. Lee Ermey as the Sheriff is the cherry on the cake. He is absolutely phenomenal and truly terrifying. The gun scene with him and Morgan in the van is one of the greatest and most tense horror movie scenes ever created. This movie is a instant classic and will always be endlessly rewatchable.
Also the fact that Zach played “Down with the sickness” at the end of Dawn of the dead made the most sense was absolutely EPIC…..still get chills thinking about it
I watched the Texas remake in theaters with a friend. I was so shooken up by the movie that I got into a car accident with a truck on my way home from the theater.
When I was 11ish I watched Mirrors, and the image of that woman's jaw getting ripped off kept me up. It was the most traumatic movie that I had ever watched as a child lol
Personally, I love the nightmare on elm street remake. It’s probably because I saw it in theaters when I was 11 and I was just happy to see a new nightmare movie. But I feel like if they didn’t scrap all of the interesting new stuff from the trailers and the behind the scenes footage, it would’ve been so much better.
Great show Cody. I just discovered your channel. Very good stuff. I really like your take on the remakes. I like your points that some of those movies you did not see the originals when it came out so your attachment is more for the remake. I'm older so seeing the originals makes it special for me. Keep up the good work!
Great tier list man. I agree with you on alot of these. Here are a few films that you missed and would have loved your opinion of where they would rank: -2021 Candyman -2021 slumber party massacre -2004 the grudge -2014 Leprechaun origins -2010 the wolfman -2000 hollow man/2020 invisible man -2019 Critters attack Some of these may be considered reboots but really i cant really see a difference especially when a reboot ignores previous movies or the orginal movie entirely. I would also love to see (if you havent yet) a tier list of franchises that could use a remake or reboot. There are a bunch of franchises in the horror genre that could use a reboot or remake to revitalize the franchise. Also there are a bunch of franchises that are perfect and are still beloved that could be ruined with a remake or reboot. Would love to watch that!
@@CodyLeachYT I think you might’ve mentioned like Dylan McDermott? I get him and Dermot Mulroney mixed up with their similar ass names and the fact that they too have also done horror.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake for me was not even close to the Original. The Girlboss aspect to the movie totally missed the plot of the Original. The Original was Terrifying and didn't have the "Final Girl" aspect to it. I cant understand that pick at all
The ones I could think of that were missing are: *The Grudge (2004) *Dark Water (2005) *Shutter (2008) *One Missed Call (2008) *April Fool's Day (2008) *When A Stranger Calls (2006) *Quarantine (2008) *Day Of The Dead (2008) *Silent Night (2012) *The Eye (2008) *Cabin Fever (2016)

The rants are epic
I’m glad to see Evil Dead get the love and respect it deserves. Fede Alvarez absolutely crushed it
Texas Chainsaw, Hills Have Eyes, and Evil Dead are some the best horror films, and have the best remakes in my opinion
Let's hope he does it again with the new alien movie
I had a fun experience watching it in theaters and it's one of my favorite remakes.
I agree, even though I didn't like Evil Dead 2013 as a remake, it still stands on its own a decent horror flick. Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead, The Last House on the Left and My Bloody Valentine are great remakes as well. @@bo2720
@bo2720 personally I'd include Friday the 13th in that
Cody I like this long form style with you going into detail on each film. Good stuff dude!
I love watching your videos when i'm taking a break from studying, thanks for uploading
I absolutely love that you gave props to The Dawn of the Dead,House on Haunted Hill,House of Wax, and Thirteen Ghosts!! I am right there with you that I am a firm believer that these are all underrated horror movies. Glad to see someone agrees!
But have you see the originals of those?
@@GarrettWiseman the only one I haven't seen the original is Thirteen ghosts
Great work as usual Cody.
well said
The remake is just about a completely different movie.
@magicjohnson3121 It's a zombie movie at a mall and that's it. It's a remake in name only but that's okay because copying the original too closely might have been a mistake and often is.
I must be one of the rare ones that love the Rob Zombie Halloween series. I love that he made Michael Meyers actually terrifying.
i liked it but I live in a southern state and i like his take on grungy gothic horror
You're not alone brother Ill never understand the hate it gets
Nice work Cody, keeping up the trend of giving us rankings we didn’t know we needed
We knew we needed this one that's why we kept asking for it
I use to say Jason didn't run but then I went back and watched part 2 and saw him running in the woods
I just know this is gonna be a fire vid like every single Cody leach video
The man doesn't miss
I agree 100% about the TCM remake! It messed me up the first time I saw it. I still randomly think about "the face scene" to this day!
Friday the 13th, The Thing, Evil Dead and Texas chainsaw will always be the best horror remakes. Child’s play is an underrated remake.
I agree, with exception to Child's Play.
I always say that if Child's Play hadn't been called "Child's Play" and just been it's own thing called Buddi or something I would've loved it. It's really fun
@@dustywaynemusic6297 Yeah, I could get behind that. Different name and a different look.
Exactly. It wasnt a Childs Play remake at all.
Childs play is one of the worst remakes of this decade, Friday the 13th isn't as good as the rest but not that bad
The kill in the remake of a Nightmare on Elm Street at the beginning where he slits his own throat (or should I say carves) was brutal
unfortunately that opening scene was the best part of that turd of a movie by a damn sight.
As F13 addict I agree 100% the remake is better than the OG. But still mad you didnt put Jason in Iconic in the other list lol
It doesn't quite fit in this list, but Little Shop of Horrors (1986) is a great remake of Corman's 1960 version.
2000s horror tier list sounds great!!
Damn these tier levels are some of the best I’ve seen so far in any level, very specific
It's always a pleasant day when Cody uploads a new video!
I 100% agree with everything you said about the TCM remake. This movie scared the ### out of me when I saw it in theatres!
Cody why do you keep blessing us with these S tier videos 😂
Memory might serve me wrong but it was rare for anything attributed to a horror film in the 80's being nominated for an Oscar so I very much doubt if Jeff Goldblum was nominated.
Edit...He did win a Saturn award for best actor though
100% agree with your opinion on Thirteen Ghosts. I absolutely love everything about that movie. It’s very underrated and overlooked in my opinion.
TRIGGER WARNING (Theme: s**ual h*rassment and crime)
51:12
Not that either crime is okay by any means, but I always find it insane when some people say the crime of - let's call it h*rassing - is "worse" than straight up UN-ALIVING a child.
Man, that Paris Hilton joke caught me way off guard🤣🤣 I don't know what was more savage, her death scene, or your joke!
Fun fact I went to high school with the kid that played the young boy in the omen remake, hated the movie, but was cool to hear the stories behind it.
Hell yeah. Been wanting this tier list for a while.
@@Dunno683 Wholeheartedly disagree. Tim Curry was a class act in that role. Skarsgaard was boring.
Glad to see others appreciate it as much as I do
It was my first as well. I was 9 and halfway through I turned it off and woke up my dad and asked if I could sleep in his bed😂😂 I love it now
Lmao ya'll must've had cool parents
Your crazy with the Stepfather remake. Terry O’quinn is awesome
I don’t understand the hate of the 2009 Friday. I enjoyed every part of it and thought they did a great job of taking that classic into the new generation. It gave some explanation on how Jason travels so fas as well
Most of the complaints towards the movie are a bunch of fucking fat sweaty neckbeards because *"It doesn't do the same thing so it's bad, waaahhh!!!"*
It is interesting.
There seem to be hints in some of the sequels, like when the little girl on the trike says, “This is where he takes us.”
@@reiterated They always hinted at something more dark and sinister in a lot of the sequels. But it always were undertones and very clever placed short hints in the dialogue. Until the remake came along.
@@peterludwig4599 And instead of assuming the audience was intelligent enough to figure it out, whacked us right over the head with it.
Well played!” 😂
My Bloody Valentine 3D is fun too, great cast and the small town setting is on point👌🏾
Well, Haneke always wanted it to be set in America.
i feel like for some of these movies, there should be a tier that’s like “what did they even change” like with the omen remake
Tier list videos are lots of fun. Hope you come up with more good ideas for them.
I know your movie tastes so well, I guessed your rankings correctly 95% of the time. I was wrong about The Blob because I thought you saw the original.
I adore the 2009 The Stepfather. Underrated imo for sure!
Straight up. That opening scene has always really disturbed me.
Great list. Didnt expect 13 Ghosts to be #1 but im pleasantly surprised
EVERYTHING you said!
(and i specifically mean all of you cause almost everyone has this complaint)
You wanted to root for a child killer, and the filmmaker reminded you that it's not normal or sane to do that, and instead people criticised him for it lmao and that's why y'all will never get another Nightmare movie, because people want to root for him and realistically the studios would get into too much trouble nowadays if they made the audience root for an actual child murderer lmao....
@@zaldigr863 Pretty dumb thing for such a long rant.
@@HeelSection3825 it was two paragraphs…
the education system is failing the world..
My list of remakes better than the original:
Black Christmas (2006)
Silent Night (2012)
Halloween (2007)
My Bloody Valentine (2009)
The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)
The Hills Have Eyes 1&2 (2006, 2007)
Hobo With a Shotgun (2011)
Evil Dead (2013)
It (2017)
The Crazies (2010)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Texas chainsaw remake was freaking terrifying for me as well but in a good way. I actually hope to be freaked out and it worked.
SPOILER FOR THE ORIGINAL
In this one, dad basically succeeds in stopping this, and effectively has to kill gauge himself, which re-traumatizes him, but makes it so much worse than his first death.
6:18 This scene right here is why House on Haunted Hill remake is a classic. It's a scene that sends actual chills.
What’s weird about Fright Night is that the 2013 movie Fright Night 2: New Blood is basically another telling of the same story but with a sequels title
I was born in 2000… TCM 2003, Friday the 13th 2009 and Hills Have Eyes 2007…. Classics to me 😂😂😂🍿🍿🍿
Fun fact for anyone who doesn't the person who played isaac in Children of the Corn (the kid with the amish hat) wasn't a child, he is now in his sixties which means he was in his twenties when he played him
reboot jason was scary as hell
He doesn't like watching foreign movies
Great list! Had to check the comments to see how many people (in your placing of Evil Dead) said "They're not called Cenebites, they're called Deadites!" ;D
Oh no did i say that? Hahaha Another classic Cody flub. It’s amazing how scrambled your brain gets when you talk for long periods of time.
Spoilers lol
I was so excited to see this. Your tier rankings are my favorite
Everyone thinks the same about that movie
Also the fact that Zach played “Down with the sickness” at the end of Dawn of the dead made the most sense was absolutely EPIC…..still get chills thinking about it
I watched the Texas remake in theaters with a friend. I was so shooken up by the movie that I got into a car accident with a truck on my way home from the theater.
When I was 11ish I watched Mirrors, and the image of that woman's jaw getting ripped off kept me up. It was the most traumatic movie that I had ever watched as a child lol
WOW MAN. Once again Coppola’s Dracula is NOWHERE on your list. I’m concerned for your mental health
Agree 100% on dawn of the dead remake. One of the best!
Here are a few films that you missed and would have loved your opinion of where they would rank:
-2021 Candyman
-2021 slumber party massacre
-2004 the grudge
-2014 Leprechaun origins
-2010 the wolfman
-2000 hollow man/2020 invisible man
-2019 Critters attack
Some of these may be considered reboots but really i cant really see a difference especially when a reboot ignores previous movies or the orginal movie entirely.
Great ranking man. I think the dude from The stepfather is Dylan Walsh - I remember him from Congo of all movies 😂
That’s his name. What did I say?

Omg! Yes about the 13 Ghosts mini series! My sister and I always wanted to see the backstory, and how they were captured! We also wanted to see each of the “symbols” and backstories of the “monsters” in Cabin in the Woods!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake for me was not even close to the Original. The Girlboss aspect to the movie totally missed the plot of the Original.
The Original was Terrifying and didn't have the "Final Girl" aspect to it.
I cant understand that pick at all

*Quarantine (2008)

Was the logic behind excluding the new Toxic Avenger remake just that it hasn’t released to the public yet? Or is there something in there that makes it distinctly different than a remake?
Yeah it didn’t seem worth discussing yet
