You should check out "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale" - It's a great Norwegian horror movie, obviously centred around Christmas and a rather grim Santa.
That story you had for the lodge was so relatable. I talk movies with the patients at work and someone suggested a movie to me and two sentences later was like "oh man it sucks he dies at the end." Like bro! How you gonna suggest it and then ruin it!
I have a weird spoiler that happened to me, but it was a book, not a movie. So when I was little, I loved Harry Potter. I had read all the books up to the new one that was coming out, which was the 6th. I was about 14 at the time, and I was going to Germany with my grandma and knew I'd be able to buy the book earlier than in the states. So I bought the book was back from my trip and was maybe 10 pages into reading it. Well I sleep with my TV on. So one night, I woke up to go pee, came back, and notice there's a hot dog eating contest on TV. I glance at the TV, thinking, "damn they're really putting down those hotdogs!" When they show the crowd, and in the crowd is a man holding up a sign that reads in all caps, "DUMBLEDORE DIES AT THE END!" I was so incredibly pissed at the random man 😅
Getting a little sappy here for a moment so just bare with me Cody 😂. It's crazy to think 2 maybe 3 years ago I started watching you and little did I know you'd become my favorite UA-camr and my inspiration for maybe starting my own channel one day as I love movies as well at just 22 years old I still collect physical media. Dying breed for sure! This year though has been the hardest year of my life me and my sons mother had spilt up after almost 6 years much to my dismay and I'm going through the worse depression of my life, but even on the days I just feel like rottening and lost a lot of interest in the things I love like movies, video games, sports, and etc. I always was happy to click on your videos it's always like listening to a friend. So thank you for what you do Cody it really means a lot that you take your time to give your fans content. Much love Cody.
Cody... big smile on my face , when u said " remember when we rented horror movies based on there Vhs covers " am 43yrs old... yup i did that so many times.. good video buddy
When it comes to holiday films, my favorite holiday horror film (if this evens counts) is gremlins. I know what the director said, but its a Christmas film in my book. It's really fun. I love the concept, and the gremlins have so much personality
EXCELLENT list. Well done intro explaining the lack of entire franchises (Halloween), actually appreciate the omission of already exhausted films that would have essentially cluttered this list. Exceptional work as always @CodyLeachYT, keep up the great content.
Gotta love Jensen Ackles, him and Jered Padaliki both. Our Winchester brothers do a decent job in horror as well as killing monsters(and gods, demons, ghosts, the literal devil). Bloody Valentine, Friday the 13th remake and House of Wax are all 3 decent horror/slasher movies and they're great in them as well. Jensen is great as Soldier Boy also.
I look forward to every new post you put out. You have lead me to watch films i have never seen , like Stir of Echos and Frailty. Both were off the charts amazing. I am actually having about 10 friends over this Saturday to watch Frailty because i just can not give this film enough praise
i know it isn’t horror, but die hard is coming back out in the theatre in my town. i’ve actually never seen it… so i feel like going into theatre for the first time should be the best way to see it? right? 😂
Nice rankings. Trick or Treat was one of those movies I had pictures of in my head since childhood but didn't know for the longest time where they came from. And yes, it is an absolute blast. I've never seen any of the original Silent Night Deadly Night movies, but I have seen the 2012 remake and would recommend it. It has some brutal, unforgiving kills, some good black comedy, great use of color and the killer Santa is actually pretty intimidating. There was also that movie from Shudder I think from last year, Christmas Bloody Christmas. It's a nice little holiday horror roller coaster ride.
End of Days is an underrated Arnold flick. Never got the hate, either. I have a lot of nostalgia for it for it though. In the summer of 2000 I got Leukemia. My grandpa and I spent the entire summer watching movies and we loved End of Days. Also it has a wild ass nu-metal soundtrack lol
I'll actually defend the original Silent Night Deadly Night as a legitimately great slasher flick. It's very unique in the sense that the first half of the film details the killer's slow descent into madness so that when he finally snaps and kicks off the carnage, you actually feel some sympathy for his character. Yes, the second half is over the top and goofy, but isn't that part of the appeal of slashers? As for Part 2...well, at least it gave us a one-of-a-kind performance from Eric Freeman. For better or worse.
I’m with you completely about the original. I didn’t hate the sequel. It’s not the worst movie out there. I didn’t turn it off or anything and I now regret getting rid of my dvd copy of both films - they came together. I need to find it on blu-Ray if it even exists on that format.
@@gregpolutanovich1774 The OG My Bloody Valentine is another one of my favorites. I never cared much for the remake. I've never seen Christmas Evil or New Year's Evil, so I can't really comment on either.
“Slaughter High” - Marty is back for revenge and it happens during April fools day , was originally suppose to be April fools but that movie got the rights to the name
Such a fun tier list. I had "Orphan" spoiled for me by a co-worker...so annoying. I even told her don't tell me any more after she said her one daughter saw it. She smiled "sweetly" at me and then told me the ending. I don't understand people who do that. I don't know about your co-worker and "The Lodge" but my co-worker did that s*** on purpose.
Just came back to say I watched P2 for the first time because of you mentioning it. Instantly became a holiday favorite! Glad you mentioned it, don’t know how I’d never heard of it. Would love to hear your updated thoughts if you do end up rewatching 😊
Ooo that sucks about the Lodge being spoiled! That is definitely one of those movies you have to go in knowing as little as possible beforehand! Kind of like Barbarian!
Love the video! Just me again desperately pursuing a train to Busan response! Ill never give up on this quest. Ik from watching you for sooooo long that it would instantly be your fav zombie movie!
My go-to every single xmas is Santa's Slay. I watched Silent Night (2012) again last night, and it's a fun movie. Also really enjoyed Christmas Bloody Christmas.
One of the most creative and awesome looking tier lists out there, man. This one is probably your best one! Wonderful job, Cody! Valentine (2001) is definitely one of my personal favorites, so I'm glad that you included it here. Happy Holidays 🔪🎄
Rare Exports : a Christmas tale 2010 would definitely make your list if you give it a watch. Totally original finnish horror that garners quite a cult following.

I'd recommend Haunt and Hell House LLC. Both are centered around haunted houses during Halloween, and Hell House LLC is probably my favorite found footage movie (not a genre I'm overly fond of).
Thank you SO much for recommending April Fools and not spoiling its plot. There was a twist I didn't see coming and which REALLY elevated the experience! Definitely a classic movie for the holiday.
Halloween III score IS by Carpenter, he just did it in collaboration with Alan Howarth, but it most DEFINITELY was a Carpenter score primarily. There is a great interview with Alan Howarth by Alex Ball on his youtube channel where he talks about how he and Carpenter worked and made music and some shots of what Alan's studio looked like during the Escape From New York days, the equipment they used and how they collaborated. Worth the watch.
I first saw Halloween 3 doing what you did as a kid, renting movies at Blockbuster. I had seen most of the Halloween's at that point and I was on a kick of watching every single Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and any other franchise horror film I had yet to see and Halloween 3 was the only of the series I had yet to watch. It was NEVER shown on tv during Halloween(which is how I had seen nearly all the others) and the internet wasn't nearly as big a thing in the 90s so I had zero idea it didn't have Michael in it. So I picked it up over some others based on the cool cover and the Witch tagline thinking Michael would be going up against witches or something. For the 1st half I remember being extremely confused wondering if the wrong movie had been put into the case and it took me a long while to realize he wasn't coming, the commerical and later the scene he's watching of H1 sealed away all hopes of him showing up. I was disappointed at first but after deciding to watch it on it's own merrits, and especially upon rewinding and watching it a second time I ended up loving it and wishing there were sequels to it. Only years later did I discover the original idea for Halloween was an anthology series and I wish we would have gotten some of those, especially the proposed Halloween 4 ghost story. I would actually trade in H4-6 for 3 more anthology movies despite how much I love Michael, they could have went back to him with H20 after doing 4 non Michael ones. I'd rather have 4 than Reserection, though, lol. I never understood why no one liked H3 though, it was a great concept and movie.
I agree with Trick r' treat. I was actually pretty pumped seeing the trailers, but didn't get to see it until DVD, and watch it every Halloween. But I also love Krampus, it could've done a bit more, but I liked the story. And I do appreciate the practical effects- some of them creep me out, but the Krampus mask was what really threw me off as being fake.
i met wes bentley from p2 in a sandwich shop and he was so so nice and friendly, he couldnt belive someone from england recognised him, talked to all my family , kept calling my dad sir.... posed for photos too
Excellent video, Corey. We’re in agreement on a lot of these. I’m curious what you’d think about Rare Exports. It’s a foreign film which I know it is not your fave but some of the elements are pretty awesome IMO
Going to a screening of gremlins with my dad this weekend in our hometown that just opened a new movie theater at the country club. I'm stoked, my dad can't do horror movies but he loves gremlins. He likes Joe Dante bc of the burbs and innerspace. He's never seen the howling lol I got him to watch krampus last year on Christmas Day and he loves it, he wants to watch it again this year
Thanksgiving horror rec: Blood Rage Christmas horror rec: Don’t open till Christmas New Years horror rec: Bloody New Year The third Silent night deadly night film is almost worse than the second, but the fourth and fifth are pretty entertaining, both are like the Halloween 3 of the franchise (not quite quality-wise though)
I'm surprised you didn't throw in All Hallows Eve (2013) it was basically Damien Leone's Halloween Creepshow. Having said that, I'm convinced Leone is a big fan of Creepshow. All Hallows Eve was a love letter to George Romero
Check out Uncle Sam. It's a fourth of July movie. It's cheesy but fun. It's a holiday that doesn't have much horror tied to it. Great rankings and keep rocking!
I would put My Bloody Valentine the original and Rob Zombie's Halloween on the top tier list for sure. I would take Halloween 3 and put it at the bottom of the tier list.
Cody, a few you didn't include that I would recommend are... "President's Day" from 2010 "Holidays" from 2016 "Uncle Sam" from 1996 "Mother's Day" from 1980 I think you would get a kick out of all of these. I especially enjoyed "President's Day". Enjoy!!!!
Santa's Slay is along the same lines as a Thankskilling or Silent Night Deadly Night pt. 2, you either love it for how shit it is, or you hate it. The rest of the SNDN movies though are so...weird and go ways you wouldn't expect the killer Santa series to go
Surprised you didn't mention Night of the Demon which is 100% a Halloween movie. A couple fun anthology movies that I like are Tales of Halloween and A Christmas Horror Story(It has William Shatner in it!). I always consider Sleepy Hallow a Halloween movie too.
Two Christmas movies I highly recommend are Maniac Cop 2 that is about a Zombie cop that only kills innocent people and Hardware (1990) it's like Evil Dead meets cyberpunk
Krampus is my absolute guilty pleasure. It genuinely makes me laugh and I love that I can put it on around my family who isn't too keen on horror movies. So I force them to watch it every Xmas eve
Jason Brant of So Bad it's Good, has a great review/watch series on the Silent Night Deadly Night franchise. It also has one of the funniest kills ever...
It's funny, while Jason Brant does have a great video on SNDN 1 & 2...it's not really a series of videos. All the other content they have on this series are actully mentions in some of their other videos (I just blurred all of it together in my brain). Mark from Weird Movies With Mark, also has a great video on the franchise...he covers more than just 1 & 2.
Great list Cody!! I know it's pushing it but Jaws is a Forth Of July movie and of course I'd put it on top. P2 wow I forgot about that one but man is it a terrific film, I might just have to pop that one in this year and watch it again. Two that you may like are Rare Exports a 2010 Finnish tale about an alternate take on Santa, and 2015's A Christmas Horror Story starring William Shatner. Happy Holidays Cody to you and the family.
I remember trick or treat when I was a little boy in the 80s and for whatever reason, I've never seen it again. I wonder what I remember from it. I'll have to check it out again.
the ones i've seen: •Sleigher's Gonna Sleigh - Halloween (1978) •Rebel Without A Clause - End of Days (HIGHLY underrated!), Halloween (2018), Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Trick 'r Treat •Snow Be It... - My Bloody Valentine 3D, Black Christmas (1974) •Eat, Drink and Be Meh - Halloween (2007) •Yule Be Sorry! - N/A

Awesome ranking, thanks Cody. The Lodge definitely deserves a higher spot, sucks that it got ruined for you smh
Hey Cody 👋 good video. Keep up the good work.
Trick R Treat didn't go to theaters. It was released direct to video.
I would put My Bloody Valentine the original and Rob Zombie's Halloween on the top tier list for sure. I would take Halloween 3 and put it at the bottom of the tier list.
Cody, a few you didn't include that I would recommend are...
"President's Day" from 2010
"Holidays" from 2016
"Uncle Sam" from 1996
"Mother's Day" from 1980
I think you would get a kick out of all of these. I especially enjoyed "President's Day".
Enjoy!!!!
Santa's Slay is along the same lines as a Thankskilling or Silent Night Deadly Night pt. 2, you either love it for how shit it is, or you hate it. The rest of the SNDN movies though are so...weird and go ways you wouldn't expect the killer Santa series to go
Bill Goldberg is an awesome Santa.
Hi Cody
what about "Christmas Bloody Christmas“ from last year?
Curious to know your opinion
Some holiday suggestions
- Santa’s Slay
- Mother’s Day (troma not remake)
-Father’s Day
- Rare Exports
- Uncle Sam
Surprised you didn't mention Night of the Demon which is 100% a Halloween movie. A couple fun anthology movies that I like are Tales of Halloween and A Christmas Horror Story(It has William Shatner in it!). I always consider Sleepy Hallow a Halloween movie too.
I watched the original years ago but remember literally NOTHING about it
Speaking of Night of the Demons, I saw you sporting an NOTD 2 shirt. On a previous video. May I ask where you got it?
Black Christmas og and 2006 fire 🔥
Great list Cody!! I know it's pushing it but Jaws is a Forth Of July movie and of course I'd put it on top. P2 wow I forgot about that one but man is it a terrific film, I might just have to pop that one in this year and watch it again. Two that you may like are Rare Exports a 2010 Finnish tale about an alternate take on Santa, and 2015's A Christmas Horror Story starring William Shatner. Happy Holidays Cody to you and the family.
Let’s go Cody!!!! I’ve always wondered…. Is your intro something you wrote??? Just curious brother!! Hv a great holiday!!!
I like your videos and i think you should say what year it is on all movies as many titles are the same on IMDB ... just saying ...
I remember trick or treat when I was a little boy in the 80s and for whatever reason, I've never seen it again.
I wonder what I remember from it.
I'll have to check it out again.
Big W for having P2 on here. 🤝
the ones i've seen:
•Sleigher's Gonna Sleigh - Halloween (1978)
•Rebel Without A Clause - End of Days (HIGHLY underrated!), Halloween (2018), Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Trick 'r Treat
•Snow Be It... - My Bloody Valentine 3D, Black Christmas (1974)
•Eat, Drink and Be Meh - Halloween (2007)
•Yule Be Sorry! - N/A
I haven't seen the lodge but I plan on checking it out this weekend and thanks for not spoiling it for me
I LOVE OG Terror Train (New Year's Eve). Something I think doesn't get nearly enough love. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
