Early American pressed glass from the early to mid 1800's can also be quite valuable. For example some mold made historic flasks from the early to mid 1800's can be worth thousands. Even an early pressed glass shot glass can be worth a lot to a collector. I've seen some sell for up to $200. It all depends on the rarity and condition.
Early American would date to the late 1700s. If you are talking about pressed glass made in American during the early 19th Century, then yes, pressed glass examples can be valuable. You can learn more about pressed glass at www.drloriv.com/Tips/ID/3827/Pressed-Glass

When I was a little girl my grandma gave me and several cousins of mine some blown glass figurines I wanted to know if there's a vintage blown glass or collectors because I'm in my 50's and I'm the only one with my full collection of 4. I don't know if there is vintage for blown glass or anything about it would you know if there is.

So today I was at a sale. There was a beautiful midsized cranberry or ruby glass vase . When I held it up to the light it appeared to be hand blown ( by the swirl on the bottom) the very bottom was very thick and clear glass ( I could only see it when held up to the light) I also noticed a kind of " wave or sagging" of color and something that looked like drips within the glass...? What does that mean? Is that good or bad? No markings on the glass. It was very beautiful, but I don't know if it is rare?, valuable?, or junk?

Hi Dr. Laurie, my husband found this piece of glass. It’s actually a plate and it was wrapped in 1959 paper and on the plate it had a little sticker that said artistic American glass. I’m not sure how to take a picture and send it to you, but I’d be curious if it was worth anything.

Not necessarily surprised.....but becoming more well-informed. I’ve soaked up about 10 of your videos tonight and i’m very impressed with your knowledge on older vintage and antiques items. And like any treasure hunter I love to hear what people can pull out of a yard sale or thrift store that has a much higher value. The dates and descriptions that you explain seem to roll off of your tongue. That’s either excellent prep work for the video or a deep knowledge base. I’m assuming the latter:-)

How about a piece of glass on the outside of an old framed photo. In certain light when looking at the surface of the glass it has imperfections.

I have a few pieces of cut glass and i am trying to figure out how to tell who made the glass (manufacturer's name) and also if there are any ways to tell if your piece is valuable or just a piece of glass. Is there a website to go to or do I need to ask an antiques dealer? I am hesitant to do that only because I don't want them to tell me it's worthless, offer me $50.00 for it then sell it for $500.00. Any clarity would be a big help.

I found a bottle in the shape of a man with air bubbles in the glass. There is a seam on the base of it an there is paint over the man. Hes painted like a sailor. wasnt sure if its garbage. Its approx 13" high..unsure how to upload a pic on this..

If you need help wit id of a piece join a facebook group. There is a group for everything. It helps to know how old your piece is. A catch all group like Vintage glass identification will help and point you in the right direction weather it's depression, EAPG, American brilliant or imported. Really, check with the groups on facebook what have you to lose?
Hi John Feltes, Thanks for that tip, but you have to question the credentials of those who are providing the advice. Also, from my experience I have seen people in some of these groups provide inaccurate information in order to fool you into thinking you have a piece of junk. Why? So, they can keep you in the dark and take a valuable piece from you without you knowing it. Excellent video!!! Do you have any experience with Mickey Mouse milk glass mugs made by Fire King/Anchor Hocking. I have an identical piece to what I'm seeing and reading online except my mug does not appear to have any markings. It makes me believe mine is a knockoff or reproduction. Can you help?

Thx...but I don't believe the cost benefit is there. I can't imagine one cup being worth more than 60 unless it was somehow a proof or test or something crazy like that. If it turns out to be nothing then I'm in the hole. FYI there is a faint scribble on the bottom that looks sort of like a "19". there is also a raised line down one side and some extra glass on the stem. I can only assume that is from the molding process. Thanks for your response nonetheless. The search continues!

People use my online appraisal reports to help them sell. The reports include a location where a similar piece sold and for how much. This helps answer your question for a specific item. One person used my report to help them sell a plate for over $1,000. They bought the plate at a yard sale for $1.
