Taking Some Time To Just Play

- Sometimes, I spend so much time working on new courses and the behind-the-scenes stuff at Texas Blues Alley that I forget to take time just to play guitar for no other reason than my own enjoyment. It's important to remember who you are and not lose yourself in your work.

What song is this!? Please someone tell me I woke up with the chords playing in my head!
This is a pretty blatant ripoff of "While We Cry" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, but with a I-V-vi-IV progression instead of the I-V-IV-I progression used in that song. "While We Cry" was kind of a ripoff of "Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam, which is influenced by Hendrix.
@@Texasbluesalley I hear yellow ledbetter and much more! Fantastic feel and thank you for responding!
Killer vibrato mate ❤
Dude the mix sounds so great I feel like I'm in the room. Which instantly makes me want to steal more than just the licks.
UA makes great reverb plugins. 😁
man that was cool. early follower and student (CD's mailed to house) until 2011 when dad went Home, and mom came down with lymphoma/dementia. had to put guitar down to keep mom fed, clean and spend as much time focused on her as possible. mom went Home in 2017 and even though i picked guitar up on occasion, have lost so much of what i once knew (the blues shuffle) that i cannot get the spark back. have guitars and amps everywhere and will prolly never use again. makes me sad but i guess thats life. was great hearing those beautiful blues notes though...
Awesome to see you both enjoy playing while also being great at it... Also, love these (personal) thoughts, reflections and messages of yours that you share from time to time... It's what music's all about anyway, isn't it =}
Sounds great...reminds me of the Allman Brothers song, Soulshine.
So nice to hear this tune again. Thanks for all you do.
Great playing and great tone. I play guitar to relax, chill and make some noise and to take a break thinking about the day job. If only I sounded this good!
I better get to practicing more 😂 that was awesome.
Very nice. On top of your SRV and Clapton tones you have some nice melodic Robert Cray too. Nice style mate.
Love it!
Enjoyed every note! Thanks for all the lessons.
Sounds fantastic very nice performance.
No, Stevie's not dead yet....
Thumb up for the ambiant sound "in the room"
Well, not sure why but your vid just showed up in my feed. I don’t know who you are, I see your from Texas, so am I. And I play guitar as well (certainly not as good as you). Damn, that was AMAZING!! You even have the lefty trem on it, just like SRV. I subbed.
I’ve been watching you jam on thanksgiving for years and that outshined them all ! Very nice !
Crazy that you know all the licks but choose to still play and sound like your self. Kind of a rarity now days. Most people are so fixated on playing things exact the they never learn guitar but just the songs. Well played sir.....
wow...that was awesome.loved it..what a sound, and what a room....TY Sir
Similar to Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam in terms of chord progressions, playing pieces of those chords, melody, etc
Noodling is a great way to move forward :)
Beautiful opening 🖖Let your "soul shine!"
Things you do like this and your constant encouragement make me very very grateful I found your channel and lessons.
So nice. Good to see you enjoying some sweet playing. This is why we all do this. Professionals and rank amateurs (me 😊) alike.
Love it🎸🥊‼️
Just beautiful!
Sounds fantastic, Anthony! 👏👏👏👏👏
LOVED IT. Thanks for sharing.
Killer!
Masterclass! Loved this. 🎸

The song is while we cry by Kenny Wayne Sheperd
Really digging this!
Really enjoyed this!
Love it✨🙏🏻👍🏼🍒
I really liked that one thing you did that started at about 0:01 and ended at 7:01. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Wow incredible playing
Anthony, that was awesome. You are the man
Anthony Who??
Great playing!
Sounding great Anthony!
wow bravo!
Kind of special that you're playing your SRV strat, where it all started.
Beautiful Anthony
Very nice playing Anthony
🔥🔥King of the Rake🔥🔥
Tone for Daze! From SE Tx

Believe this is Because We Cry by KWS. Way to rip it Anthony - you were incredibly patient knowing that adrenaline pedal was right there calling to you (step on me! C’mon! Step on me!!).
Sorry While we cry - or one of the 50 songs that use the same progression and timing
Good vibes✌️.
Wow, which kemper profile did you use for this? Your tone just keeps getting better, fantastic playing
That is actually my Dual Showman Reverb through the EV 15" in my Vibroverb. Ever since I got the Fryette Power Station, I've been playing my amps down here on the stage a lot. In my main shooting area in the upstairs part, I still use the Kemper almost always because it's so convenient.
Great playing as usual Anthony...used to watch your videos all the time however for some reason they stopped popping up in my feed (I blame the algorithm - I've subscribed now to prevent that!). Today I thought of Zexcoils and it you popped into my head. Glad you're still teaching and looks like you fully endorse those Zexcoils since you're still rockin them. Unfortunately they are increasingly hard to get and seemed to have ruled themselves out of international markets as their shipping quotes are very high - almost $300 to ship to my country!
Not sure how affiliated you are with that company but it would be cool to do a re-review...your thoughts on the zexcoil after all these years, why you still use them, why you sometimes choose not to, whether you've had trouble sourcing them etc.
Wish you all the best.
Sweet tunes
What a wonderful playing... please, make a tutorial of this, very appreciated
That jam should be on a hot butter biscuit
You’re an insane player. Thank you so much for this I love it start your own Spotify channel.
Nice playing
As a lonely man i am sad you play alone , great sound jealous my cs strat sounds so difficult makes me more sad 😅❤
Won't be this way forever. I've got great musician friends just waiting to come over and jam. It's just a matter of finding the time.
Yellow Ledbetter jam 😊❤
