The roland has the best feel of any of the entry level keyboards. It was more responsive to soft touch. Thanks for the direct comparison. Not enough price difference to get the fp10 over the fp30. The fp10 should be under $700.
I recommend you to buy Roland fp10. The keys are much better than Yamaha, (where Roland uses the PHA-4 Standard and has an Ivory feel & Escapement). For sound, Roland is better i think, because they use the "SuperNATURAL Sound Engine" where they produce excellent dynamics and expressions.
@@stephem8 I tried the FP-10 and thought the volume control (lack of) was sort of cheesy and unfortunately the last octave and change is sustained at all times, no sustain pedal pressed, and in fact unplugged just to be sure. How about the clicking noise of the keys? For some reason, none of the reviewers dont mentions this misunderstanding. After a week of using the FP-10, the keys start to click. This is due to the mechanics of the keyboard and the using of grease under the keys. The problem is very common, there are many discussions on Reddit about this. Owned FP10, the key click problem was confirmed. Loved this instrument, but this clicking issue is really disappointing. Roland needs fp10 quality control.

Hi can I make a suggestion. When you're doing a review, can you also record the actual sound of both units of their built-in speakers because like me, that's a deal breaker. Though these 2 have both 12 watts speakers, for sure sound quality is different. Sometimes the sound they produce on a computer recordings is not exactly how they sound through the built in speakers, if that makes sense. Thank you.

if the FP-10 is placed a few inches higher, it may prevent the same playing as the P45... so I think like Merriam Music, they place one of the left and one on the right so they can turn 180 degree and play one of the other, that'd put two piano at an equal playing field
@@Punk-HI1 That's just the graded action which both have. When people typically talk about better action it means they feel more like real piano keys overall from weight to feel to everything else.
FP-10 has great feel and love the weightedness but unfortunately develops clicking noises very quickly with the PHA4 action. Not happy with mine because of this.
I tried both and I feel like FP10 is very plasticky and clicky. Also the dynamic range seemed much smaller. I had to tap the keys incredibly lightly to get a quiet tone and mash them very hard to get louder. Yamaha felt more responsive.
@@Bec888B Bummer and sorry to hear. I purchased an FP-10 and a week or so into it, discovered the right most 16 or 17 keys are always sustained. Tried factory reset. No firmware upgrade available. I was able to return it in time and am trying the P-45 and like the way the keys don't feel as weighted. Hello everyone. Please tell me what to buy, Yamaha p145, Roland fp 10 or Casio cdp s110, the teacher says that the keyboard should be heavy, and then Ronald wins here, but it seems to have a muffled sound, because the speakers are below, I don’t know if anyone has heard these pianos live. Casio seems to have a better sound and a deeper keyboard, but it seems too soft, Yamaha has excellent sound and a tight keyboard, but in the new model it has become shorter and I don’t know if it is heavy enough for learning to play the piano for the first year? Please tell me what to choose. Thank you very much. :)

Very nice comparisson! Thank you! Roland hasa better key action as I own Fp30 and is the same PH4 action. You can hear more levels of authenticity of real piano sounds, more chromatic, on the FP10. Yamaha has a different tone and less nuances on this model, that might please to some people though. Would be nice to have one including the new Casio Privia PX-S1000 that is in the same price range as I heard and seems to have even more to offer for the money compared to both Yamaha and Roland.
I think it is an unfair comparison, the FP-10 vs P-45 because the P-45 is old and so the FP-10 should probably be compared with the P-125. To this I say: Watch out Roland, because I think the P-45 was already nipping at the FP-10's heels and with the fairer comparison (FP-10 vs P-125), look out! lol
Roland got crisper notes and better dynamics. But at times, it sound so metallic and digital. Yamaha othehand is so balanced sounds much natural and authentic. So I think I prefer Yamaha, eventhough it doesnt have modern features like Bluetooth and less compact. Just for its natural sound and casual use.
FP10 was unnecessarily key tightness and more hard than acoustic piano. The keys push return back and you will get slow response which I feel very bad while playing. Hope p45b has a good response and hammer action waiting for my order.

@@putra_rimbawan_ literally a keyboard? are you retarded
The roland has the best feel of any of the entry level keyboards. It was more responsive to soft touch. Thanks for the direct comparison. Not enough price difference to get the fp10 over the fp30. The fp10 should be under $700.
Yamaha P45 little bit more natural.. but for me the winner is Roland FP-10 for better key action
I'm a beginner. I'm torn between Yamaha p45, Roland FP-10 and korg b2. Please help.
Timothy I think you should 100% go for Yamaha p45! It’s amazing
Tried factory reset, which was not well documented, but that didn't help. No firmware upgrade. It is going back tomorrow and I say good riddance because I am disappointed, to be sure.
Turns out this is normal, but Roland support did not tell me, but instead recommended getting it serviced.
@@stephem8 No, when I asked I was told it might be a defect, but it's supposed to be like that because that is what acoustic pianos do as well.
Same (((
Does the same happen with the fp30

Hi can I make a suggestion. When you're doing a review, can you also record the actual sound of both units of their built-in speakers because like me, that's a deal breaker. Though these 2 have both 12 watts speakers, for sure sound quality is different. Sometimes the sound they produce on a computer recordings is not exactly how they sound through the built in speakers, if that makes sense. Thank you.
I like the p10 for the higher up note. I like the p45 for the lower notes. I got the p30 instead.
Lol
can you like.. explain why you chose it..
Pouchy17 they didn’t have the FP-10 in stock so I got the FP-30 for $1.5K which is 2X the price of the FP-10.
Dude - my P45 is arriving Monday - was feeling I should have maybe got the FP-10 for its more advanced technology - but after hearing you play the P45 at 2:09 I am glad of my choice! Many thanks from London, England!
Do u regret getting yamaha?
I had to return the P45 as it looked like it was not new - and exchanged it for the Yamaha PSR EW425 arranger instead
@@makarashow's the experience with the 425? Currently stuck in a similar situation and very confused

@@makaras I still feel like investing a bit more and getting a proper digital piano, the sound engine, movement between the keys and the key-feel difference seems like a Lot
Excellent review, thank you! Really helped me make a decision. :) P45 for me.
if the FP-10 is placed a few inches higher, it may prevent the same playing as the P45... so I think like Merriam Music, they place one of the left and one on the right so they can turn 180 degree and play one of the other, that'd put two piano at an equal playing field
From what I’ve heard, the Yamaha sounds “deeper” and fuller, while the Roland sounds brighter and more open.
FP-10 is better! Keys action, Piano sound is more rich
@Mimi Ibrahim I think it's the way the keys seems heavier on the left than on the right. Reproduce the weight of the hammers on a real piano.
I hear that the keys on real grand pianos are generally not as firm as those on an upright acoustic. So perhaps in a way, the lesser weighted keys on the P-45, more closely resemble an actual grand piano? Kind of ironic.
Thanks for the review mate. That was really good
Yamaha sounds more natural for me. Less digital, if u like.
I'm playing Roland RD300NX, but I agree with you... Yamaha P-45 has a natural tone..

Hola, consulta para los que saben

I prefer the warmth and richness to Rolands in general across the board. I always Yamahas a little sharp and piercing on the ear... and in some cases actually a teeny bit sharp in pitch!!!! ???!
I tried both, FP 10 is more heavier than p45 i tried just like this video compared two of them at same time, coz i like weighted keys to build power than i choose FP 10..
Its personal opinion tough...
To my ears the Roland sound Abit digital the ending notes. Where the Yamaha sound full and bright
The bright edge on the FP-10 would easily cut through an audience in a loud environment.
Best piano comparison i've ever seen. Thank you!
I don't know why, it's "hard" to play play on yamaha's GHS keyboard action, I don't know how to explain that, but it's something weird to play on GHS, GH3 and higher are cool actions. Roland's PHA4 seems much closer to an upright piano action.
Great idea to do a VS on these two. Lovely playing too Sir!! X
to my taste the winner is the fp-10. however, i'd have to hear them both connected to the same amp. with the same EQ config. the type of [integrated] speakers can change the sound A LOT.
Anybody can comment on how heavy the keys are at one end to the other? ex: C4 near the edge vs C4 at the end of the black keys). I have a Casio CDP-S100. The weight difference along the keys make sit hard to play. I'm looking for the cheapest piano with the best action to use as a midi controller with Pianoteq.
I have the p45 already before watching the vid so i want another one roland f-10
MatXPlayz was there a problem with the keys rattling (mostly middle c) or any other issues with the piano? Roland has very wide keys so I wouldn’t get it unless p45 had an issue most complain of

I think when it comes to music production. You would eventually need vst plugins . So might as well get the cheaper one.. in this case the P45 and get a good piano plugin, and you are good to go
But even action is important right
@@nigeldsouza6088 yes, I lacked knowledge before ... I had the P45 before and man I can tell you, it is very bad when you pair it up with a high end VST plugin... I ordered the fp-10 recently . I think the Yamaha has a better tone overall, but the Roland definitely has a better low end.

The default sound of the Roland is sampled from Steinway concert grand while Yamaha uses their own GFX concert grand. The sound difference is really just preference. They are both digital. To say that one sounds more digital than the other is not correct but rather one sounds more natural, but unless you are comparing it to the original and know what the original sounded like, one cannot comment on how natural it sounds.
Thanks

To this I say: Watch out Roland, because I think the P-45 was already nipping at the FP-10's heels and with the fairer comparison (FP-10 vs P-125), look out! lol
Yes! I fell like this as well
I originally would like to buy fp30 but I think that fp10 just enough for my needs after watching this video😄
Yamaha sounds far realistic. But I mean both are really good. It's all about the feel and which one has the best Rhodes sound :).
I've found FP-10's sound more "blurry" than Yamaha. Yamaha's sound is more synthetic and legible, imo.
4:00 looks the exact opposite, yamaha sounds a bit more blurry than the fp10
Great review and playing. As an absolute beginner which one would you recommend?
Roland got crisper notes and better dynamics. But at times, it sound so metallic and digital. Yamaha othehand is so balanced sounds much natural and authentic. So I think I prefer Yamaha, eventhough it doesnt have modern features like Bluetooth and less compact. Just for its natural sound and casual use.
