I think Johnny needs a little more practice driving on the rocks. He's lucky to have friends like Mike. Thanks for the video stay safe. Alway's an adventure with you guy's.
That was awesome. The way you let him try his way first, and help build his confidence and talk him through an obviously stressful situation for him. And you didn't belittle him or make him feel inadequate. Hats off to you sir. Cheers.
Good on you Mike for helping a friend in need. This situation doesnt say anything about how "good" a friend he is but it says tons about how good a friend you are. 👍
I've heard camera people narrate what's happening in frame before. Was the first time I've heard one narrate their own movements. Cracked me up when she came out with "camera person is mooovvinnng...."
Mike that was some rescue. Most of those utility access roads are no joke. It's why I park the 4x4 and then hike it🤷🏽♀️! Your judgement in the DeathStar is on point 💥✌🏼⭐💯. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Mike! When u r dragging someone away from a bank like that: if u turn the steers so they're pointed towards safety and let em roll, they pull the front end away from the danger zone using less power. I agree w the ebrake, the rear wheels are getter sliding but the front can help!!
My dad, the Forest Ranger, had a 3/4 ton Ford pickup with limited slip diff and a 500 pound, horse rack on the back. We lived in Moab, 1948 to 1955. He had to deal with ranchers, miners, timbermen, campers, hunters and recreation people on a daily basis. He often had to respond to distress calls from people with four wheel drive. He rarely, never made it home for dinner. There is nothing better on rock than rubber tires but, for soft materials, you better have tracks. Iguana
We use vanilla to ward off the gnats. Splash it on like aftershave around eyes, nose/mouth and ears. PLUS, there is an added benefit of smelling like a sugar cookie. EVERYONE loves sugar cookies!
I love Taylor (I think that was her name) gets handed the camera out of the blue, and proceeds to do a stand out job. I can think of a few major channels that could learn a thing or two from the way she filmed this recovery. She had good angles and covered the action, but by far the most important thing is 'she was smooth'. None of the hose-piping we see so much of on Cleetus McFarland's channel. Top job Tylor. When are you starting your own channel?
My little secret my parents used , The scent of the Vicks Vapo-Rub serves as a great repellant for mosquitos, gnats, and other types of bugs, just a small bit on each side of your face and the sta away.
Those same flowers grow up here in the mountains in So Cal about 50 miles due south of The Hammers... Johnny seemed in over his head. Lucky to have friends like you!
Poor Johnny. You could just sense it in his voice, he was like 1 second away from having a full blown panic attack. Glad you were there to help him through it. When you have a really bad day and really bad things begin to happen, everything about everything begins taking on a different vibe. So easy to have a meltdown. Mine was over being stuck in the sand going up the hill on elephant hill on obstacle that was super easy. It is hot... and things dont go your way... and you are out there all lonesome and while i know you are not supposed to wheel alone but you know.... we all do it... under stress things happen. Mike to the rescue.
They were in a bad for sure..Mike you might have prevented a really bad outcome. The consequences of this trail got into Johnny’s head and he needed a calm and helpful guy to get him through it..nice work.
I hate it when people don't listen to or trust their spotter. a good spotter knows sooooo much more about the situation than the guy that can only see through 2 mirrors and and windshield. trust your spotter. especially when they are professional's at this lol. good job Mike. ohh new subscriber here... glad to see you have your own channel!
Is it really called being in a bad spot or trying something new and it doesn't go quite as planned and needs assistance, thumbs up 👍 great video, thanks for bringing us along on your adventures
First time watching this channel. I guess it is Mike nice rescue. Definitely knows what he is doing and super nice truck. The other Gentlemen needs to greatly improve his offroading skills and take another skilled offroader in another vehicle with him before he ever tries a trail like this again. You could tell he was terrified of the situation he got himself in and that it was his lack of ability that put him in that position. With no roll cage that tumble would have turned out bad for you both. Especially without anyone knowing you two were out there. Be safe out there.
We don't have the sort of trails here in New Zealand that you do around Moab, but some of the ones we do were built to build and maintain powerlines through the mountains. I must say I don't remember those powerlines being so close when I drove that road.
Definitely was out of his element. At least he finally stopped making things worse. It's good to have friends that will come out and get you on your way again. Nice save. Where did you go for dinner or a brew after the save?
Good morning Mike I give you credit you definitely like living life on the literal edge. That was an interesting recovery. The odd part is it makes a lot of the TrailMater recoveries seem not as much fun since there is no risk involved. No disrespect to Rory or Shawn. In my opinion when danger and risk is involved it makes it more challenging
I've gotten phone calls from friends an hour before I had to go to work, by friends who were stuck in the mud up on some old stagecoach road in the mud.. you Always go save a friend
I met Mike a few months ago in Moab. Super Cool dude. I got the last old hat lol.. since then i have gotten a buddy to start building a rig to go with me. Goals.. im coming back for a better hat😂
Hey Dirtbilly Deluxe! I think he need a little more seat time with other before out on his own on trails like that with alot of obstacles that are hard to judge with the foliage and rocks on a narrow mountain trail! Great job Mike and kudos to the camera gal!😉😲👍📹👋👋👋🤣😂🤣
Dang, where do you find a woman like Taylor in NorCal? Have truck, shop, and a bus. And this is why you always go wheeling with a buddy. And I can just hear Rory in that situation saying "I saw this on UA-cam once".
Fun Video. It would be helpful if you would mention the area it was filmed. I see in your Bio your affiliated with Trail Mater, but I hod to dig around to see that. I assume it's near Moab, but the terrain looks quite different, and could be many places ( eastern Cali comes to mind) Just keep that in mind for us randos that drop in. And yes I've done similar rescues back in my days of 4 wheeling. Cheers!
I see that tree suicided itself for the mission you don’t find a lot of plants that would be willing to do that. Great job considering where the trail was nice work!
RE: the flowers, maybe its Mirabilis multiflora. This is a species of flowering plant in the four o'clock family known by the common name Colorado four o'clock that is native to the southwestern United States from California to Colorado and Texas, as well as far northern Mexico, where it grows in mostly dry habitat types in a number of regions. source: wikipedia.
I was taught this as standard practice in England but no-one seems to do so in the USA, though more cables are rope now rather than wire so I guess is almost self damping.
You need to add a bit of yellow tape on the “customers “ centre steering position .. I also note no one in Utah gives measurements on backing up or turning , it was refreshing to hear you giving “five feet, two feet. “
is that guy on Drugs or has ADHD? you tell him to turn passenger while backing up but he keeps turn the wheel the opposite direction when he starts moving.
Not everybody can be an ace driver, so the moral of this story is that if you are not that great at least listen to the advice of those who are good drivers. Carefully do what they say, instead of doing what you feel is right, because that is what got you into trouble in the first place.
Never knew how much patience Mike actually had till I saw this video. You’re a good guy Mike. Better than most of us.
you have to be patient, & precise,,if your a rock climber.. or you die..
@@harrywalker968why I keep my 4x4 limited to snowy roads and construction sites 👽
I realized how calm and collected he was when he smashed his thumb and just kinda looked at it. 😂😂
Why on earth would you put Taylor BEHIND the camera LOL
I think Johnny needs a little more practice driving on the rocks. He's lucky to have friends like Mike. Thanks for the video stay safe. Alway's an adventure with you guy's.
Less Johnny, more Taylor 😂
you got that right
Camera person was a fine job.
DEFINITELY more Taylor! 😊
Shes just fine in general😂
❤
Asks for help and proceeds to question every action you give. Good friend he has in you. Mike the Man of Patience.
Amazed he made it passed that tree without going over the side. Then he was nervous to turn it around with Mike guiding! Nice work Mike. Thanks
Mike, I Vote to make Taylor The designated Camera Person.
Yeah, because she is HOOOTTT! 😊 and as Fat Bastard from Austin Powers would say SEXY!
I concur. She did an awesome job panning around showing the the awesome surroundings while y’all doing the boring stuff lol
I'd rather her be in front of the camera
I've heard camera people narrate what's happening in frame before. Was the first time I've heard one narrate their own movements. Cracked me up when she came out with "camera person is mooovvinnng...."
Agreed
The weight of the Death Star really worked for this job. It didn’t even notice that little toy yota when you were winching.
Mike that was some rescue. Most of those utility access roads are no joke. It's why I park the 4x4 and then hike it🤷🏽♀️! Your judgement in the DeathStar is on point 💥✌🏼⭐💯. Thanks for sharing.
Any body would be lucky to have a friend like Mike!!
Just found YOUR channel this morning. Great rescue.
Johnny needs to set up some obstacles in a parking lot and practice backing around them. Mike you are a good teacher.
Johnny needs to learn to listen to he spotters, I was getting frustrated just watching. Thanks for the video Mike.
Johnny telling Mikey how to drive his Blazer, lol
Mike is one of the true certified og Jedi of anything everything about off-road adventures ✅
Excellent recovery. You know what you're doing. It's almost like you do this for a living.

SUBBED!!!
That was a great job of the camera person. Johnny is fortunate to have good friends. Be well.

Johnny scares me - it’s good that he has a great friend like Mike!!
Too much hesitation and overthinking
Wow !!! Great scenery ❣️ , but Hmmm🤔, no spare tire 🤔. Great video 🥂🍹.
Mike: agree you are one patient gentleman! Great recovery!
Glad you posted the video after sundown here. Ain't much going on after dark out here except bears and coyotes.
He always has the best scenery with him!👍👍
Very nice Mike! Keep doing what you’re doing! 👍🏻
I love how the separation was between the axles, where NOTHING BUT JUST THE FRONT SET SPUN. I thought that was AWESOME...
That time lapse at the end was awesome on the gnarly road.
Poor Johnny. You could just sense it in his voice, he was like 1 second away from having a full blown panic attack. Glad you were there to help him through it. Good job Mike...helping a friend in need at the edge of the world...not a good trail to be on...
I think the Death Star needs a dozer blade for clearing out trees and brush. Great job Mike.
Good recovery Mike. Its hard doing something like that without any help other then the other driver. 👍👍👍
They were in a bad for sure..Mike you might have prevented a really bad outcome. The consequences of this trail got into Johnny’s head and he needed a calm and helpful guy to get him through it..nice work.
Hey Mike !! Nice SAFE rescue on your part !!! 🙃😉👍👍👍👍👍 Hope Johnny learnt something about his rig & going where no 1 else would go ?? 🤔🙄
More Taylor !! She also did a great job with the camera as well. Maybe you should teach her to wheel, as Johnny keeps getting stuck.
Flying a little scout drone ahead of time saves a lot of grief. Good job on the extraction.
Finally you get a pretty camera person to record what silly places off road people go lol. Good Job on the recovery mike!

Johnny needs more experience.... Taylor take the wheel!!!!
Hey! Great job as usual Mike and lol.....they just dont make toyota drivers like they used to
Love your videos Mike. Keep them coming. Finding a way to keep Taylor in front of the camera more would be a good thing too... :)

Can't tell you how many times I've had to do a sketchy turnaround exploring dead end roads in the desert, all part of the fun 😆
It amazes me that Johnny got as far up the hill as he did!! :)
Your mom helped!
Definitely had my butt puckering just watching it! Glad no 1st Gens were harmed in the filming of this
Thinking maybe Johnny scared himself pretty bad. Mike to the rescue and a great learning exercise for Johnny.
Taylor did a great job with the camera.
I didn't know you had your own channel! That's awesome! You have a new subscriber. Btw you should've kept Taylor on the other side of the camera!
Next time!
Great job Mike, far more patients then I have in those situations!!😃 More Taylor in the future would be great!!🙂
Awesome views. Awesome skills and apparently very friendly flies.
Definitely was out of his element. At least he finally stopped making things worse. It's good to have friends that will come out and get you on your way again. Nice save. Where did you go for dinner or a brew after the save?
Definitely a learning experience for him. He’ll look back on it as fun.
jonny has tons of off road experience
Didn't say he didn't have "off road experience"@@derekcraig3617

Exciting😂😂😂😂😂 Johnny's fear was showing big time🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
THE 4RUNNER GUY IS HIGH AF. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂LMFAO
Praises Mike for his patience. Johnny should drive where he is comfortable.
Thanks for the video mate, Johnny at least had the sense to stop where he was, views always better halfway up than crumpled up at the bottom.
Good to see you doing well Mike. Worked with you about 11 years ago.
Four oclock family was the flower, shows its beautiful blooms later in the day
Well done, Mike. Johnny has a hard time taking direction.
Dang, where do you find a woman like Taylor in NorCal? Have truck, shop, and a bus. And this is why you always go wheeling with a buddy. And I can just hear Rory in that situation saying "I saw this on UA-cam once".
NorCal is full of those women. Fresno and up.
Dang! nice rescue 👍😎✊
That's how most roads above my how end after following them for miles in! 😆

The Deathstar is a beast these days.
The girls will scream and the boys will shout and the ladies they will all turn out. And they'll all go mad when Johnny comes marching home.

Love the Deathstar. Oh, those are pink flowers.
Should throw a blanket over winch cable that’s pulling so you don’t loose a windshield or your life if the cable snaps.

That Toyota has a really, REALLY nice seat cover.

I turned my Toy pickup around like that, except I backed up the hill, and it was snowing like hell. I had driven right into a snow front.
