Great walk through. I'm going to build up the confidence to do this myself since Chevy quoted me 850 plus tax. They said after installing a new one the car needs an alignment?. Any suggestions or feedback??
@@Jhoss003 ohhh those are annoying and ironically I’ve only seen them on some LS4s. But i ended up having to take the bumper off just to get to the bolts that secure the bracket. You MIGHT be able to get away with removing the splash shield but im not 100% sure. I feel like i had already tried that previously
Dudes i need help. Mine exact same issue. Balancer wobble. Got parts but what is that rattle at start up. MY IMPALA SS DOiNG THE SAME n it sounds like crap. Help please on that rattle at :29 seconds
Its your starter. Not that its necessarily “bad” but the part in there that retracts from the flywheel is just retracting slower than it should. I’ve heard of people lubricating them before but i feel like you might as well replace it being that you have to remove it to lubricate it anyways
You replace the bolt because it’s a torque to yield bolt like a cylinder head bolt proper spec is 111 foot pounds plus an additional 76 degrees. These specs are easily found if you’re going to post instructional videos you should at least use proper tools and procedures I’m sure that you didn’t know that’s why I’m telling you this I hope this helps you in the future videos that you make make a simple google search will show you should about any automotive procedure that you can do. Other than the torque spec the video was good. Just a suggestion though if you were to remove the 2 lower motor mounts you could get a lot more downward room without messing with the cradle
Without showing jack points and stand positions this video is useless. I had so much hope that I had found help.Half the information is like no information. Too bad!
This video was a huge lifesaver for the seal. It was my first time doing anything to my own vehicle, and it was the perfect guide. Thank you so much.
Got to do this on my Impala SS. It got the wobble too. 😂
Me to in my 5.3 gxp
2007 GXP here it's been wobbling for almost 21000 miles
i dont get how the whole pulley didnt turn with the impact though, when i try to break it with the impact the whole thing just moves with it
Heat that bolt with a torch. That should help break it free with the impact
Thanks for the video, huge help. Got it done in no time flat. A nearby shop was telling me 5 and a half hours of labor plus the parts.
How can I change the crankshaft position sensor myself
what is the correct FT/LB of torque the bolt on the harmonic balancer?

I’ve never heard of anything regarding an alignment after swapping a harmonic balancer. I definitely push you to DIY😎
@@khalil2236 Okay thank you brother. I will try on my own.
How do you lower the engine again ? I didn’t see how you guys did that
Anthony Villarreal support the subframe with a jack and remove subframe bolts and lower with the jack
how long is the hose clamp?
Would you happen to know if a 05 Pontiac grand prix 3.8 harmonica balancer , fit a 05 Pontiac grand prix gxp 5.3
It will not fit
@@khalil2236 okay, thanks
Can you explain how to remove the bracket out of the way from the sub frame bolt
What bracket are you referring to
@@khalil2236 the ones covering the subframe bolts
@@khalil2236 can you text me 4054887952 and I can show you what I’m talking about. Really struggling

@@khalil2236 okay thank you
did you take the back bolts of the subframe loose or no?
I believe I did just the front and it gave me enough clearance
Why did you change the balancer the reason I ask is that my 05 5.3 GXP makes a intermittent noise that sounds like main bearings knocking
The balancer was beginning to wobble and sometimes had a mild chirping sound while spinning
I appreciate this video a lot

Best vid I've seen for this , good job
Do you have to drop the subframe?
dakota hall not completely drop, but you do have to lower the front of it
Lol, some kind a rude but the idea is there, thanks.
